Save On Home Remodeling With the New Home Investment Package

    - July 31, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

San Francisco, Ca (PRWEB) July 31, 2013

Christopher Wells Construction, a San Francisco area remodeling contractor, recently introduced its new Home Investment Package, giving homeowners who remodel their kitchens or bathrooms, a free upgrade valued up to $1,000, which can be applied to several features of the project.

Now is an optimal time to remodel a kitchen or bath in San Francisco Bay Area, said Chris Wells, a residential remodeling contractor, and owner of Christopher Wells Construction. The return on investment is exceptionally good for certain home improvement projects and when combined with the Home Investment Package, homeowners get even greater economic value. Its also a nice way to get an aesthetic enhancement for a kitchen or bath at no additional charge.

Christopher Wells Constructions three complementary remodeling improvements include: (1) a free window retrofit on a standard kitchen; (2) a replacement of standard sheet vinyl flooring with Marmoleum, a popular green product or other high-end flooring option; and (3) a tile upgrade, to give a remodeled kitchen or bath a unique look and feel.

Wells' assessment that homeowners should consider renovating their homes this year is supported by Remodeling Magazine's 2013 Cost vs. Value Report. According to the report, a major kitchen remodel in San Francisco will recoup 106.5 percent of the cost; a minor kitchen remodel will regain 128.8 percent; and a bathroom remodel will recoup 118.8 percent of its cost.

This means, homeowners get back every penny they invest and make a tidy gain, which can amount to thousands of dollars after the sale, Wells said. But for homeowners who are staying put, he added, remodeling is an intelligent move because you can take pleasure in a newly remodeled kitchen while enjoying more space and better functionality. Both practically and financially remodeling your kitchen is a winning proposition, Wells said. And interestingly, by remodeling rather than moving, you may get the new home you desire and save big in the process.

Wells is also quick to point out that the actually value of a remodeled home will increase in value after a room renovation depends on such factors as a homes location, the direction of the housing market and the scope of the remodeling project.

Yes, renovating your kitchen if you live in San Francisco is a smart financial investment, but homeowners should not be too quick to sell, Wells cautioned. You should never discount the pleasure and tremendous peace of mind that comes from renovating a kitchen or that was once falling apart or outdatedand is now beautiful to look at and functions so well.

Summarizing the benefits of the Home Investment Package, Wells described how each of the free remodeling upgrades will add value by improving overall quality, enhancing aesthetic appeal and increasing a homes net worth.

Wells pointed out that housing prices are now climbing in the San Francisco bay area, so its a good time to increase a homes value and get immediate satisfaction. For many, everything surrounding a kitchens use just feels more gratifying after they remodel it, especially if its been on someones wish list for a while.

Plumber: Kitchen-sink choice leaves her feeling drained

    - July 31, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Q: I plan on having a new kitchen sink installed this fall and I'm stuck on what type to get. Because I don't have a dishwasher, I like the idea of having one large single-bowl sink for extra room. But, I think a double-bowl sink is more practical and that is what I presently have. Can you please help me decide what style can work best for me? -- June in Ohio

A: Usually, I would list the advantages and disadvantages of both types, then let you decide. However, a new style of kitchen sink -- called "low barrier" or "smart divide" -- has become available in the last few years.

Basically, it takes the best features of single- and double-bowl kitchen sinks, and puts them all in one unit.

The concept is quite simple: The divider wall between the sink bowls has been lowered, so handling larger, long-handled items such as pots and pans can be a lot easier. But, because you still have separate sink basins, you can wash in one bowl while still keeping the second bowl open for rinsing or disposer use. The overall size is the same as a standard kitchen sink, making it a perfect choice for a replacement job.

Bottom line: A smart divided sink can be an intelligent choice for your kitchen.

Prosecutors Plumber helped plan Deerfield break-in, robbery

    - July 31, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

By JAMES A. KIMBLE Union Leader Correspondent

BRENTWOOD A plumber who allegedly provided the layout of a Deerfield home to accomplices who stole $20,000 in cash and a box of silver was described by prosecutors as a key participant to the break-in who never set foot in the home during the heist.

Prosecutors said Christopher Martin, 40, of Danbury, formed a plan with two others to carry out the June 29, 2011, burglary so a large safe could be raided for money and an assortment of valuables.

"He came up with the perfect score. It was a perfect target," Assistant County Attorney Michael Zaino said during opening arguments in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Martin is facing charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and acting as an accomplice to Jacob Palo, 37, of Concord and his girlfriend Sherri Avnet, 34, of Manchester, who were both convicted for their roles in the case.

Defense lawyer Michael Anderson described Martin as a successful businessman, a family man and longtime friend of the victim, Dr. Arthur Cutter.

Anderson said his client had nothing to gain by participating in the burglary.

"The real actors have already been convicted," Anderson said. "This is just a case of taking somebody down with him."

Palo stormed into Cutter's house sometime around 6:30 p.m., and brutally beat the local veterinarian before directing him to the safe in his bedroom. Palo is serving a 20 to 40 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a litany of charges, including first-degree assault.

Cutter testified on Tuesday that he first thought the man at his front door was a client from his veterinarian business that he had forgotten to take care of earlier in the day.
