Q: I enjoy your take on plumbing and hope you can help me. We're replacing our old round front toilet and I would like to put in an elongated toilet. My husband says that the space is too tight for an elongated. Is there another option we can look into before he runs out and buys the same type of toilet?

A: Let's catch everyone up. Toilets generally come in two basic sizes:
1. Round front -- This toilet has a circular bowl that can fit into a tighter space.
2. Elongated -- This toilet has a slightly longer, egg-shaped bowl for extra comfort.
So, the bad news used to be that if you wanted to replace a round-front toilet with an elongated, in many cases the longer toilet would not fit the space. The good new is that now we have toilets on the market with "compact-elongated" bowls. These specially designed one-piece toilets offer the comfort of an elongated bowl with the same footprint of a round-front toilet.
However, compact-elongated toilets usually cost more, so let's hope the price increase won't "bowl" you over!

Weihrauch HW100 PCPs air rifle are famous for its precision, we had a spider pest infestation at our farm, hundreds of them. So to control it I started to hunt then. They are approximately 10 meters away. Each spider had a approximately size of a 5 cents coin.

A pigeon pest controller is needed to keep Peterborough clear of droppings, a city councillor has said.
Independent John Fox said: "The birds are all over the place and everything's covered in poo. The steps of the beautiful guildhall are ruined by it."
He called on the council to employ a pest controller to deal with the birds.
A spokesman said: "Like many other councils we have no policy to control or cull pigeons." He encouraged people not to feed the birds.
Mr Fox said: "This city is trying to encourage a European cafe culture, but that's not going to happen as things are.
"There are four big flocks of feral pigeons and they are becoming a pest.
"They would go back to the rural areas if people would stop feeding them. Right now, they seem to prefer to come here for a sandwich."
He said he planned to talk to the council about the possibility of asking businesses to "chip in" and employ a pest controller for Peterborough.
Paul Phillipson, executive director of operations for the city council, said: "Pigeons are common to every town and city in the UK and Peterborough is no exception."
