Titan Quality Roofing and Construction finds a Bible untouched by the fire in a recent demo/new construction project in Jenks, OK. http://www.titanqualityroofing.com The discovery of a bible in a pile of ash from a house fire is giving a Jenks family inspiration to start a new beginning in the new year. "Someone was looking out for us, we feel special," said Lauren Burns. Eleven days before Christmas, the same day as the Connecticut shootings, the Burns family in Jenks faced their own tragedy. "Nothing was worth saving," said Lauren Burns. Nothing was left after their home went up in flames from a suspected gas leak. They lost their family dog, toys and family mementos. A few pictures surfaced above the ash but buried and untouched by the flames was Mrs. Burns #39; bible. "That is the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs." "It shows that we are being looked after," said Burns. It was a construction worker with Titan Quality Roofing and Construction who uncovered the bible among the ashes. "I asked did anyone put that there and no had been off their equipment," said Jason Davis. "Untouched as you see it. You could see other things in the house covered in soot." Scorched pages from other books float above the debris but not the bible. "Not a page in it is messed up," said Burns. Before the walls came down, she found three other bibles buried in the ash and untouched. She also found crosses on the walls that were unharmed. The U.S. Department of Labors Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited A.H. Sturgill Roofing Inc. for two alleged safety violations after a worker died Aug. 22 from complications caused by heat stroke.
The 60-year-old temporary worker sustained heat stroke while working in direct sunlight on a commercial flat roof, throwing rubber roofing material into a dump truck on the ground. The worker was hospitalized due to work-related heat exposure on Aug. 1, the agency said.
The violations involve failing to provide a program addressing heat-related hazards in the workplace and to train workers on recognizing the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses, including taking preventive measures, such as consuming adequate amounts of water, according to OSHA.
A serious violation occurs when there is substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known.
The company, which faces a proposed fine of $8,820, has 15 days from receipt of the citation and proposed penalty to comply, request an informal conference with OSHAs area director or contest the finding before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
The company declined immediate comment until it could learn more about the alleged violations.

Like the rest of the housing market, home improvements and remodeling plunged during the recession as consumers hunkered down.
But now that economic conditions are improving, the forecast for home fix-ups is looking up, too.
Future market indicators, which have been lagging a little bit, have jumped up, said Paul Emrath, a research vice president with the National Association of Home Builders. Calls for bids and appointments for remodeling proposals are increasing significantly.
They are basically as high as they have ever been, Emrath told builders meeting for the industrys annual exposition this week in Las Vegas.
The outlook for home remodeling in the year ahead is the best its been in almost a decade, based on the most recent remodeling industry surveys by the homebuilders association.
Home improvement expenditures are forecast to rise by almost a third from the worst of the market in early 2011 to late this year.
Remodeling fell by about 30 percent during the recession.
Thats not as big as the decline in housing starts, which was closer to 80 percent, Emrath said. Our forecast is for slow and steady increases going forward.
There is still pent-up activity waiting to be released, he said. We had a lot of projects put off as we went through the decline.
