Voters throughout California weighed in Tuesday on more than 370 local measures, most of them aimed at raising money for hard-pressed cities and counties.
In addition to bread-and-butter measures that included more than 100 school bonds, voters grappled with a number of environmental and political questions.
In San Francisco, residents were leaning against developing an $8-million blueprint to demolish a dam and drain the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, which provides water for 2.6 million area residents. Environmental groups said they wanted to restore the wilderness valley that is buried under 300 feet of water.
LIVE RESULTS: California election | National election
In Santa Cruz, city residents seemed likely to approvea measure requiring a public vote on a $115-million desalination project. The city has set a 2014 election but an anti-desalination group wanted to keep a future council from reneging.
Voters in Arcata, Chico, Richmond, San Francisco and Mendocino County were confronted with resolutions against corporate personhood the idea that corporations have basic human rights. The measures were headed for approvalin all five localities. The issue gained traction after the U.S. Supreme Courts decision in the 2010 Citizens United case, which allows corporations and unions to spend unlimited sums on candidates campaigns.
Marijuana has long been a staple on the California ballot. In Arcata, residents were on the road toward approving aproposed 45% tax on residential electric bills that are six times over a baseline level set by the state. Nearly 7% of the towns homes have bills that high, indicating they could be electricity-guzzling grow houses.

In Berkeley, residents have been split over a proposed ban against sitting on the sidewalk in commercial areas from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Hotly debated, the ban appeared to be winning.
Thirty-five communities proposed extending or increasing their sales taxes. In tiny Maricopa, an oil town whose dismal finances prompted a grand jury to recommend unincorporating, voters were poised to rejecta one-cent sales tax.

Demolition of storefronts has begun at 800-940 East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena Monday, as developer Park Place Commercial moves forward with a restoration plan that will include underground parking. The historic Constance Hotel is also part of the project. (SGVN/Photo by Walt Mancini)
PASADENA - Demolition of a vacant storefront near the historic Constance Hotel began this week, making way for an office and retail development that's part of a $76 million restoration project.
Not all of the storefronts lining the 900 block of East Colorado Boulevard are coming down. Some, such as the old Taste of Bangkok restaurant, will have their facades stripped back to their historic look.
"It's significantly better and much more like the original historic structure," said Richard A. McDonald, an attorney representing developer Park Place Commercial, owned by Arcadia- based Singpoli Pacifica.
Those storefronts are attached to the Constance Hotel, a 1926 building currently undergoing renovations to turn it into the 136-bed boutique New Constance Hotel.
It's part of a changing landscape at the business-oriented Lake and Colorado intersection that has come at the expense of several small businesses.
Last week, Wolfe Burgers at 46 N. Lake Ave. suddenly closed. Signs posted at the building announce the pending arrival of Rounds Premium Burgers, a growing chain based in West Hollywood that is part of the food truck trend.
A neighboring business on North Lake Avenue, International Discount Golf, went out of business this past summer.
The demolition for the hotel project is on a separate retail building that abuts the west side of the historic storefronts on Colorado. The building previously housed Copy Right
The entire block will eventually become a uniform retail front, with the hotel on the east end at Mentor Avenue and a new office building on the west end at Lake Avenue.

SANTA ANA A burned out structure at the long-empty Saddleback Inn in Santa Ana on Tuesday began to crumble as crews took the first steps in demolition that could take as long as a month.
The city on Sept. 20 issued a notice to "repair or abate" the Saddleback Inn within 30 days, citing a litany of 50 "unlawful conditions" at the site that began with the fire-damaged south-side building, where workers focused their heavy equipment.
Workers use an excavator to break away part of the burned-out roof and a hose to keep the dust down, at the Saddleback Inn on First Street in Santa Ana, which the city has been calling a nuisance for nearly 20 years.
MINDY SCHAUER, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

While demolition of the building is certain, other aspects of the property at 1660 E. First St. remain cloudy. As the months unfold, it will be up to the owners of the Inn, the owners of the site it sits on, the city and now the courts to determine the fate of the nearly half-century old cluster of Spanish-themed buildings.
Santa Ana on Oct. 30 sued to place the Saddleback Inn property under a receiver who would see to it that repairs are made to fix what the city has for years contended are unsafe conditions, or to see to the property's demolition.
Named as defendants are Saddleback Inn LLC, which holds a leasehold interest in the property where the old four-building Inn sits, and the Elks Building Association of Santa Ana, which owns the 2.4-acre parcel. The parcel is adjacent to the Santa Ana Elks Lodge.
The lawsuit lists such problems as deteriorating buildings, inoperative plumbing, heating and air conditioning, rot and rust that it alleges endanger the health and safety of the public. It listed violation notices that date back to 1994.
The city contends that the Inn's owners failed to come up with a court-mandated plan to repair the property. An Orange County judge in April ordered the city to allow the owners of the inn the option to repair the property, but called on the owners to develop a timely schedule for repairs. The ruling vacated a decision by a city hearing officer last year that upheld a city order that Inn be demolished.

Romeoville officials are continuing to make strides with their plans for the redevelopment of the Route 53 corridor.
Trustees approved the demolition of a building at 9 Rock Road, the site of the former Crazy Rock gentlemans club.
Robinette Demolition, which oversaw the demolition of the former village hall, will also handle the razing of the site for a total cost of $78,050.
Assistant Village Manager Dawn Caldwell said that the company will handle asbestos removal before beginning the demolition, which is expected to begin in the first week of December and take about two weeks.
Mayor John Noak said the building was in poor condition and that the area will be redeveloped as part of the overall revitalization efforts of the Route 53 corridor.
This is going to make a lot of residents happy seeing this go away, said Noak of the building.
In addition to the Crazy Rock demolition, trustees also approved the removal of part of a retail site at the Spartan Square plaza near the corner of Route 53 and Phelps Avenue. Robinette Demolition will also handle the razing of the remaining store fronts on the property in two phases for a total of $234,705.
The first phase will include the demolition of a building used as a Jewel-Osco and Ace Hardware to be completed still in 2012.

ElementsTheGame:The Arena-Bronze league #39;s No.1: Problem?
At the first glance, I thought that I will win it easily(100-47 HP), but I got a bad draw at the beginning... And I almost lost. More information below: I have been playing this game called "Elements" for a while. There you have The Arena, where players make defense decks and computer plays them against other players on demand. As selection of the deck in The Arena is random(1 from 500 active decks), plays against tops are rare. The strength of deck is determined by wins-losses, however, the health points of the deck decreases by age exponentially on base 2(not bellow 1 HP): 0, -2, -4, -8, -16, -32, -64, -128, and so on... Also, there are points for winning(deck goes up in rank) and losing(deck goes down), which determine the rank of the deck. Decks below the of 500 are not active, but they can return to the active ranks as more decks with worse ratings are thrown down. After the match, if you win in The Arena, you get points(and the same amount of electrum - cash of the game) and 3 normal spins of the cards from the beaten deck. One spin can result in an additional 5 electrums or 5 electrums and a card from the opponents deck. Elements is free online fantasy card game, so feel free to check it at: http://www.elementsthegame.comFrom:CatsionViews:4 0ratingsTime:03:56More inGaming
