Libyan Prime Minister sacked for missing deadline to form a cabinet

    - October 9, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

TRIPOLI: Libya's Parliament has passed a no-confidence vote in the new Prime Minister, removing him from his post in the latest blow to stability in the war-ravaged country.

Mustafa Abushagur was Libya's first elected Prime Minister after last year's overthrow of the dictator Muammar Gaddafi that ended eight months of civil war.

He had 25 days from his appointment to form a cabinet approved by Parliament, but that deadline expired on Sunday as legislators moved to unseat him.

The General National Congress voted 125 to 44 in favour of removing him as prime minister, with 19 abstaining.

Until a replacement can be nominated, management of Libya's government is in the hands of the legislature.

Mr Abushagur represented an offshoot of the country's oldest anti-Gaddafi opposition movement and was considered a compromise candidate acceptable to both liberals and Islamists.

But he failed to produce a list of ministers that could win the approval of enough MPs.

After 40 years of Gaddafi's divide-and-rule tactics and the 2011 war, Libya's towns, tribes and regions are highly polarised. Many feel entitled to high government positions because of their losses in the war against Gaddafi and are wary of any power wielded by their rivals.

Jacksonville, Florida Roofing Contractors Now Offering Same Day Repair Assessments

    - October 9, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Jacksonville, Florida roofing contractors now offering same day repair assessments at Roof Link Inc. Homeowners and business owners can now take advantage of expanded services offered by Roof Link in the Jacksonville area for roof repair and replacement assessments.

Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) October 08, 2012

The period of time that takes place after damage happens and when it is assessed can be short or long. Not every insurance company has the manpower to respond as fast as home and business owners would like. For those without insurance, fixing a roof or re-roofing a new one as fast as possible is typically a top priority.

The Roof Link website is helping to shorten the length of time that contractors can respond to damage reports or new roof installation requests. The talented contractors that are dispatched through Roof Link now have the capability to arrive faster and assess damage thoroughly to expedite roofing repair and related services.

Roofing materials are often created by third party companies that do not employ teams of contractors. Research and development programs are typically created to obtain knowledge from roofers as well as homeowners when materials are manufactured.

Companies like Owens Corning that produce hurricane proof shingles can often take years to develop the right mixture of protection versus cost value. One of the ways that Roof Link Inc. remains as a consistent provider for 21st century roof coverings is by offering materials produced by Owens Corning and other manufacturers that currently have the highest wind ratings for wind and water damage on the market.

The asphalt shingle industry now has new competition in the form of flat roof materials. While asphalt shingle ruled much of the 20th century, the 21st century has materials like metal, rubber and turf that are offered as alternatives to asphalt shingles. The use of the flat roof system is one way that efficiency can be improved inside of homes and businesses. Flat roof repair is a secondary service that is now offered by Roof Link through its network of licensed roofing contractors in North Florida.

Homeowners or business owners that would like to submit a same day roofing repair or replacement assessment request can do so by making contract with Roof Link at the following address:

Netflix Tumbles on Downgrade Amid Streaming Concerns

    - October 9, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Netflix Inc. (NFLX), the worlds largest video-subscription service, fell the most in more than two months after Bank of America Corp. analysts downgraded the stock, citing concerns about the health of the domestic streaming business and a recent run-up in the shares.

The stock tumbled 11 percent to $65.53 at the New York close, the biggest drop since July 25. Bank of America analysts led by Nat Schindler downgraded the shares to underperform from buy. The Los Gatos, California-based company had gained 6.1 percent this year through Oct. 8.

Netflixs soft target earlier this year, when it predicted 7 million net new subscriptions in 2012, may have been ambitious, the analysts said. Fewer than the 6 million additions that Wall Street estimates are modeling could hurt the stock, the analysts said. The company is also facing increased competition both in the U.S. and internationally.

Bank of America predicts that domestic streaming subscriptions will plateau sooner than expected, pressuring 2013 estimates. The analysts project Netflix to have 33 million domestic-streaming subscribers next year, up from about 23.9 million at the end of the second quarter.

Additionally, theres a likelihood that content prices will be increasing due to competition and Netflixs exclusive and original content emphasis, they wrote.

Bank of America had upgraded the shares to buy from underperform in August, citing international expansion, smarter spending on content and rising domestic profit, combined with the drop in the stock following the companys second-quarter results.

In the most recent note, the analyst said that the stock, as of Oct. 8, had surpassed Bank of Americas $72 price target. Since Oct. 2, Netflix had gained 30 percent through yesterday as Citigroup Inc. cited improvements in its customer-satisfaction rating and Morgan Stanley upgraded the shares, saying competition from Amazon.com Inc.s Prime Instant service is overblown.

Kitchen Fires #1 in New Report; Smoke Alarms and Escape Plans Key to Surviving Fires in the Home

    - October 9, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Fire Prevention Week is October 7-13

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) are providing new statistics on fires in American homes and urging consumers to install smoke alarms in their homes and check to make sure all smoke alarms are working properly. It is also vitally important to develop and practice a family fire escape plan.

    (Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20030904/USCSCLOGO)

In a report released today, CPSC estimates there were an average of 366,700 unintentional residential fires, 2,310 deaths, 12,550 injuries and more than $7 billion in property damage each year attended by fire service between 2008 and 2010.

The top cause of fires in the home is cooking equipment, accounting for an estimated 147,400 or 40 percent of residential fires each year between 2008 and 2010. Cooking was also associated with the largest percentage of fire-related injuries, an estimated average 27.4 percent or 3,450, in the home.

Home heating and cooling equipment, including portable space heaters, was a top cause of fire deaths, accounting for about nine percent or 210 deaths on average, in homes each year between 2008 and 2010. Portable heaters were associated with 100 of those deaths each year.

"Six people die every day in home fires," said CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum. "The early warning provided by smoke alarms can make a big difference. Consumers who have working smoke alarms in their homes die in fires at about half the rate of those who do not have alarms."

"Every second counts when there is a fire in your home," said U.S. Fire Administrator Ernie Mitchell."It is easy to believe that when the smoke alarm sounds, you and your family will be able to escape. A home fire drill can prepare you and others to escape a real life emergency in your home."

CPSC and USFA recommend that every family have a working smoke alarm in their home.

To provide better warning of a fire and more escape time, install more than one alarm and interconnect all smoke alarms in the home. Interconnected alarms speak to one another so if there is a fire in one part of the house, the interconnected alarms sound throughout the house and alert consumers to the fire more quickly.
