Professional tree trimming thins out the tree and removes dead or overgrown branches for the best and healthiest overall appearance of the tree. We also get what is called Mistletoe. That is an unsightly clump of green foliage that birds carry from tree to tree. It attaches to the limbs and penetrates the branches, eventually choking the life out of your tree. It must be removed or your tree will not survive.

In Florida we have to prepare for hurricanes and making sure your tree is in good condition and free from dead wood or hollow bark is extremely important. While trimming your tree we can do a full inspection of the tree and advise you on any condition that might be present.

The Capote Black settlement of Guadalupe County, Texas is a classic example of the origin, evolution and transition of African Americans from life as slaves into lives as American citizens. The church is one hundred and forty years old. I have been working with the Capote Restoration Committee since fall of 2012 to preserve the structure and document its construction.

There are many lessons of sustainable construction integrated into the structure. I thought it would be appropriate to share one for Earth Day 2013. A significant amount of history has been gathered regarding the pottery works that members of the Wilson family operated from ca.1857 to 1903. The African American business produced things such as storage jars, urns, and churns. One of the reasons for the success of the pottery was the availability of native clay soil with inherent plastic and adhesive qualities.

In the process of systematically disassembling deteriorating parts of the church I asked the general contractor, Earl Greenwood, to excavate to the base of some of the brick piers. At the bottom, we discovered hand formed concrete footings. After some research I found out that a White medical physician and chemist, Dr. John E. Park, had developed a formula for load bearing limecrete in the Seguin area in the 1850s. Dr. Park used native materials from central Texas, including the same type of clay soil that the Wilsons used in their pottery. Various historical sources also, verify that Dr. Park used African American slaves as labor to build a number of limecrete structures in Guadalupe County before the Civil War. The African Americans who worked for Dr. Park are not given much credit for knowing how to mix the limecrete. But none of the thirty five limecrete footings at the church have disintegrated or cracked over more than 100 years of service. Limecrete has the ability to absorb and release moisture as the moisture content of the surrounding soil changes. The footings are even specifically shaped according to their particular locations, interior, corner and perimeter. Its obvious that African American knowledge of local construction materials and techniques has been underestimated. Surely there are other similar untold stories across America.

Each piece of flagstone is carefully selected and graded during the quarry process to ensure the most consistent and highest quality product is being delivered to you.

From subtle, light grays to bold, dark grays, with some brown tones for color.

The perfect balance of earth tones.

Irregular in shape, our 1 thick or less thin flagstone has a wide variety of applications. Thin flagstone is most commonly used as a veneer for patios and porches.

If used as flatwork, it must be laid on a concrete pad.

Pieces range in size from small plate to 1/2 pallet size.

Also referred to as medium or standard flagstone, our regular flagstone is irregular in shape and 1 to 1 3/4 thick. Regular flagstone is most commonly used for patios, pool decks and walkways.

Pieces range in size from plate to close to pallet size.

Also referred to as thick or 2 flagstone, our heavy flagstone is irregular in shape and 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 thick. Heavy flagstone is perfect for walkways, patios, pool decks, wall caps and steps.

Because of its thickness, heavy flagstone can be dry laid in sand or a similar base.

Pieces range in size from platter to pallet size.

Our natural cleft flooring is one of our most popular products for pool decks, patios and walkways. Ranging in sizes from 12x12 up to 36x36, our natural cleft flooring comes in a natural, random ashlar pattern.

Irregular in shape, quarry stack is perfect for planters, flower beds or as a wall stone or veneer. Our quarry stack comes in 1-2 and 2-3 thicknesses, with pieces ranging in size from hand size to plate size.

Because of its thickness and durability, our webb wall is most often used as a veneer, random steppers or in driveway applications. Irregular in shape, our webb wall ranges in thickness from 3 to 5.
