Community activists are outraged over another viral video of young women behaving badly.The video posted on MediaTakeout shows an older man with a white beard and red cap being taunted by a young woman aboard a bus. He then gets up and swings a bag at the woman. Then her friends -- at least four of them -- start attacking him.It is so violent, other riders get up to get off the bus. One girl is heard yelling "Give me the knife!"

Report: plumber tampered with gas line in building explosion

A plumber who worked at the East Village building where two people died in an explosion last month has admitted to illegally tapping into a gas line there but said the landlords son ordered him to do it, The Post has learned.

The unidentified tradesman confessed to rigging a gas-supply system for apartments at 121 Second Ave. but blamed it on his boss to deflect any fault from himself, law enforcement sources said.

Authorities havent decided whether to cut a deal with the worker in exchange for his testimony or use his statement against him, one source said.

The official investigation is still in its preliminary stage, with probers trying to recover evidence from the rubble, sources added.

Investigators suspect an illegal hookup in the building was removed from a gas line ahead of a Con Ed inspection on the day of the explosion, then reinstalled before the devastating blast about 30 minutes later.

The buildings landlord has been identified as Maria Hrynenko, who inherited it and several others from her late husband, Michael Sr. The husband ran the East Villages iconic 24-hour Kiev diner before his death in 2004.

Authorities have said the couples son, Michael Jr., 29, was at the building before the explosion, along with general contractor Dilber Kukic of The Bronx.

Michael Hrynenko Jr., also called Mischou, was hurt in the blast and carried to safety by Kukic.

Kukic is awaiting trial on bribery charges in a sting involving an undercover officer who posed as a crooked city housing inspector.

Plumber confesses: I rigged illegal gas-blast line for landlords son

Tenants of the buildings that were destroyed in the explosion on Second Avenue last month have blamed the landlord's illegal gas siphoning operation for the blast and fire that killed two men and injured dozens more. The landlord's attorney blamed Con Ed. Now, the Post reports that a plumber has "confessed" to setting up an illegal gas connection at the behest of the landlord's son.

According to the tabloid, the plumber claims that Michael Hrynenko, the son of landlord Maria Hrynenko, ordered him to siphon gas to the residential units above Sushi Park at 121 Second Avenue, the building where the blast originated. Sources tell the Post that investigators are still looking for physical evidence in the rubble, and "Authorities havent decided whether to cut a deal with the worker in exchange for his testimony or use his statement against him."

Con Ed inspected 121 Second Avenue roughly 30 minutes before the explosion occurred, and a spokesman for the utility insisted that the workers never unlocked the gas connection, called a head end. "We said no, this is a mess," the spokesman told Gothamist. "They looked at the work and said, we're going to fail you."

After the Con Ed inspectors left, Michael arrived with contractor Dilber Kukic, and went into the basement of Sushi Park; the explosion occurred shortly after. Michael was injured in the explosion, and Kukic, who was caught in a DOB bribery sting last fall, carried him out of the burning building.

Hrynenko's attorney, Thomas Curtis, told Gothamist last week that his client was too naive to break any laws.

Maria wouldnt do anything illegal. Shes not savvy enough to do anything illegal," Curtis said. "She was beside herself when she found out about the explosion. She thought [Michael] was dead."

According to the Post, Curtis has been replaced. "It wasnt working out between us, Curtis told the paper. The whole thing is very strange. I think shes made a mistake.

The funeral for one of the two men killed in the explosion, 23-year-old Nicholas Figueroa, is being held tomorrow on the Upper West Side.

Horrified residents have seen a rise in beetle infestations this spring, according to a Tayside pest control firm.

Andy Law Pest Control has received panicked calls about carpet beetles every day in the past couple of weeks due to the warmer weather.

One infestation was so bad that the company had to fumigate a Dundee home to get rid of hundreds of the creatures.

A spokeswoman for the firm said: The adult beetles feed on plant nectar and fly into homes through open doors and windows.

They then lay their eggs into natural fibres, such as jumpers, blankets or carpets that contain wool, for example.

From those you get hairy brow caterpillars, or woolly bears, which rest until the following spring, when they turn into adults.

So the people noticing these beetles in their homes now have in fact had them for at least a year.

Theyre always horrified when they find out people dont tend to see the larvae as they lurk in hard to reach places.

Weve found them behind a settee, underneath a duvet, or near walls.

Carpet beetles are about three millimetres long, with the most common species being black.
