Using a new generation of LED thermal and lighting technology the 295mm square GL-PL0303-V2 consumes only 14.8 watts while producing up to 1260 lumens, and the longer GL-PL0312-V2 fluorescent tube replacement LED light, with dimensions of 295mm x 1195mm, reduces energy consumption to 44.5 watts while producing up to 3900 lumens.

Lower Energy Costs At 295mm, these LED ceiling light fit easily within the width of standard modular ceiling tiles without consuming too much energy. The 295mm square GL-PL0303-V2 produces a bright yet non-obtrusive 1100 lumens or more and the 295mm x 1195mm GL-PL0312-V2 produces 3600 lumens or more, meaning less luminaires to install, and lower energy bills for the same amount of light.

Color temperatures can be chosen from 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white), or 6000K (cool white) to suit the lighting ambience. A dimming option with 1-10V DC, PWM and Resistor dimming is compatible with a variety of lighting control systems and switches, allowing users to easily adjust the level of light. The included LED driver has a two-stage design and is IP67 and CUL certified.

Versatile Lighting In two different sizes - a square 295mm model as well as a longer 295mm x 1195mm model these lights with an ultra-slim 10mm thickness are an easy fit within standard suspended ceilings. The lights can be recessed mounted (295mm standard, 300mm with the spacer or 315mm with the clip-on mounts). Surface mounting and suspension cable mounting options are also available, meaning these panel lights can be installed on almost any ceiling type.

Features: Low power usage - 14.8W for PL0303-V2 and 44.5W for PL0312-V2. Recessed, surface mount, ceiling mount, suspension cable, and clip-on mounting options. Inside restoration of historical home

    - March 23, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

ELKHART Walk down Strong Avenue in Elkhart and its hard to miss the beautiful Strong-Conn mansion.

The historical fixture built in 1884 has been home to Samuel Strong and later C.G. Conn. It was Conn who commissioned architect A.H. Ellwood, after he bought the mansion in 1890, to update it from its Italianate origins to its current Neoclassical design with large 26-foot fluted columns, hand-turned balustrade and a two-story wraparound porch.

We use to live on Riverside Drive and when we took walks we would always admire this house, current owner Tim Shelly said.

In 1992, he and his wife, Meg, turned their dream of owning the home into a reality.

The first thing you notice walking into the entrance on the east side of the house is a narrow walnut staircase that spirals to the second floor.

Light streams in from tall, narrow windows onto a small space under the stairs with a bench seat. Bright-colored paper in purples, greens, pinks and golds decorates the walls and ceilings of the parlor and library on either side of the foyer. Its a drastic difference from the dark burgundy that had covered the rooms when they moved in.

There was a lot of old paper on the walls, old carpets, Shelly said. The first year here was a lot of cleaning things up. The couple worked on the upstairs bedrooms first so they could move in with their two sons, 4-year-old Michael and 9-month-old Andrew.

    Then the real work began.

Five of the 4-foot capitals above the columns were missing when they moved in and had to be replaced. A new roof was put on. Several trees were removed from the surrounding yard. One side of the large house needed some foundation work.

And that was just the outside.

Bamber Gascoigne inherits 50-bed home from his elderly aunt

    - March 23, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bamber Gascoigne, 80, has been left a 50-room stately home by his aunt Ex-University Challenge host says he inherited the property 'by accident' West Horsley Place near Leatherhead in Surrey could be worth 10million Property has its roots in 11th century and has been visited by royalty

By David Wilkes for the Daily Mail

Whem he hosted University Challenge, his catchphrase was Your starter for ten.

But the stakes have suddenly become higher for Bamber Gascoigne after he unexpectedly inherited an historic mansion from an elderly aunt.

He was stunned to be left 50-bedroom West Horsley Place in Surrey by the Duchess of Roxburghe, one-time society beauty and a goddaughter of George Vs wife Queen Mary.

Bamber Gascoigne, seen in a library at West Horsely house, has embarked on a mission to save the crumbling estate, which could be worth 10million once the restoration has been completed

The Duchess Lady Mary Evelyn Hungerford Crewe-Milnes was also Mr Gascoignes godmother and had no children of her own. She died last year aged 99.

The grand country house dates from the 11th century, although most of it was built between the 15th and 18th centuries.

It had many visits from royalty, including one by Henry VIII, during which he enjoyed a 35-course lunch.

Spider Provides Material Lifting Solution for LINQ Hotel

    - March 23, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Seattle Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, recently provided a unique material lifting solution for faade remodeling work on the new LINQ Hotel in Las Vegas.

During the $223-million transformation of the former Imperial Palace into Caesars Entertainments newest 2,256-room hotel and casino, the LINQ, the removal of 3,250 cement guardrail barriers from the structures exterior balconies was required. The massive concrete pieces varied in size from 11 ft to 15 ft and in weight from 1,300 lbs to 2,000 lbs.

In order to minimize disruption to the hotels operations, customer NorthStar Contracting Group Inc. (formerly LVI Environment of Nevada, Inc.) turned to Spider for a material lifting solution that would safely and efficiently remove the cement barriers from the faade to ground level. Spider engineered a custom monorail system that spanned 120 ft and was equipped with two Beta Max Leo VFD wireless material hoists. With a maximum lifting capacity of 2,000 lbs each, this solution was capable of transporting even the largest one-ton cement pieces while maintaining safety regulations.

Since the hotel remained in operation, cranes were not allowed on-site. Alternatively, Spider provided two additional Beta Max hoists on scaffolding and trolley beams on the buildings rooftop to initially lift the equipment into position.

Spider rigged the system and provided on-site user training to ensure the NorthStar crew could safely and efficiently operate the equipment throughout the projects 8-month duration. The system was used continuously, often non-stop through multiple shifts, without failure.

Combining the unique material handling expertise of Beta Max products with Spiders trusted engineering and powered access experience enabled us to develop a unique, one-stop application for this particular challenge, commented John Sotiroff, Vice President Spider Sales and Distribution.

Spider also provided fourteen swingstages and fall protection equipment for roof and repainting work, and stage rigging for the LINQs parking garage.

About Spider: Founded in 1947, Spider, a division of SafeWorks, created the powered suspended access business by introducing the wellknown Spider basket. Since then, our product and service offering has expanded greatly to serve the needs of an ever-growing marketplace. Spider is the largest manufacturer and distributor of access and safety solutions in North America, serving more customers from more locations with a wider variety of products and services than any other company. From baskets, traction hoist and platform rental, to safety and training, to specialty-engineered products - Spider has a strong team of professionals, along with a national network of sales, service and support capabilities to provide you with the most reliable access solutions available.
