Admitting that it was the mistake of the City Municipal Corporation to take up the Master Plan project without adequate funds for the project, Municipal Commissioner, S.G. Rajashekhar has announced that henceforth, no demolition would be carried out in the city without the availability of funds for the project.
Participating in Meet the Press programme here on Monday, he said that the Corporation has no funds to take up the Master Plan project and continuing demolition of buildings was not a good idea.
After demolition, the Corporation has to pay compensation to building owners if is the private property, after the demolition, the funds are needed for constructing roads and pavements on the widened area. This requires huge amount of funds which the Corporation does not have, Mr. Rajashekhar said.
Assuring that all the sixteen roads taken up under the Master Plan project for widening would be done in phased manner, he said that the Corporation has submitted a proposal of Rs. 600 crore to the government that required for the mega project.
Stating that Corporation has taken public health aspect seriously, he said that in that regard, over 70 per cent pigs have been shifted out of the city limits to prevent spreading of any contagious diseases.
To a question, he said that the Corporation has deployed most of the workers to clean the city for coming Navaraspur Utsav which would be held from February 27 for three days.
On the demand for constructing a marriage hall to provide the hall at an affordable price for people here, Mr. Rajashekhar assured to check the possibility within the available resources.

Municipal Commissioner, S.G. Rajashekhar has assured that from March 1, a roundtheclock working helpline number would be started for people to get their civil problem addressed.
He also said that though the Corporation already has three helpline numbers: 08352278539,278536 and 222474, but they are not 24/7 active. In grievances related to street lights, people could contact: 08352646328,277758 and 8971712018.

Almost brushing architect Louis Kahns famed tetrahedral ceiling with his curly locks, the contemporary American artist Christopher Daze Ellis stood atop a ladder, painting in the geometric clipped-corner tile shapes that are part of a multi-section mural he is creating in the lower level of the Yale University Art Gallery (YUAG).
As part of a 20-day residence at Yale spread over several months, Daze is painting the floor-to-ceiling,12-tall-by-36-long mural with the help of a few Yale art student volunteers. Those students are getting the experience of painting with an internationally recognized muralist with two works presently on display in YUAGs modern and contemporary arts section.
Yale junior Annelisa Leinback (pictured), who has periodically assisted with mural sketching and painting from the beginning of the project, said the murals theme of freedom resonated with her. She also found it amazing that something I helped with will be part of a permanent installation.
Dazes bio chronicles over three decades of mural making from the United States to Paris and Beijing. His work has included a mural for the Star ferry terminal in Hong Kong, lectures at Hofstra University and the Bronx Museum, completing the design of an entire train station in Hannover, Germany alongside fellow artists Lee Quinones and Crash, youth workshops with kids during the Hutuz festival in Rio de Janeiro, and completing a mural for the Vivo City shopping center in Singapore. He has pieces in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of New York, The Groniger Museum in the Netherlands, and the Ludwig Museum in Aachen, Germany.
Dazes trajectory as a successful artist has been the result of reinvention and a willingness to challenge himself. People that are real artists always step it up a notch. They continue to try to make it interesting for themselves they continually challenge themselves, he said in an interview after a recent painting session at YUAG.
Dazes bold, graphic compositions reveal elements of a spirited visual vocabulary rooted in the work of his early years in New York as a graffiti artist or writer, an era from which he emerged as an international legend of the aerosol medium. One of the early sales of his work after his transition to canvas was made in the company of 20th-century icons Keith Haring and Jean-Michele Basquiat, with whom he had several collaborations.
Opening his first studio in his late teens began a period of work that, perhaps more than anything, marked a turning point in his career as an artist. He used proceeds from one of his earliest sales to buy more art supplies. I didnt know how long this was going to last and at least when times were slow, Id still be able to work.
Daze noted that his new mural at Yale, painted exclusively with a brush, is different from others hes done. I primarily do murals with spray paint, but because of restrictions within the museum, I couldnt use spray paint, so my approach to it is more like doing a painting on canvas. Its kind of a first. Im able to work much faster with spray paint. This is taking longer, but Im embracing the process as something different. Its good to get out of the box and out of your comfort zone.
Part of getting out of his comfort zone will be undertaking an entirely new medium, as the artist produces a limited edition of etchings working alongside Yale School of Art student Mauricio Cortes Ortega.
Ive never done any etching before so Im learning about that process as I go said Daze.

Police have laid a dozen new charges against a London business owner accused of transporting teenage girls to hotels in his carpet cleaning company van.
The man, a 40-year-old married father was charged last month with "procuring" -- a charge so rare, police only laid it about six times last year -- after two 16-year-old girls say he asked them if they wanted to make money as sex workers.
Police announced the charge of procurement -- defined as trying to entice or solicit someone who is not a prostitute to work as a prostitute -- saying they hoped other victims would feel comfortable coming forward, knowing the accused was in jail.
The plan appears to have worked as police said Monday they have now identified "two additional minors" as victims of human trafficking.
Sean Leadston, owner/operator of Heaven's Best Carpet Cleaning, is now charged with the following offences:
Two counts of domestic assault, trafficking persons under 18, financial/material benefit from trafficking person under 18, withholding identity of trafficking person under 18, procuring a person under 18 to have illicit sex, procuring a person under 18 to become a prostitute, exercise control, administering drugs for the purpose of illicit sex, living off the avails of prostitution of person under 18, living off the avails of prostitution; violence/intimidation person under 18 and drug trafficking.

London police lay additional sex charges against Sean Leadston
A 62-year-old Huntington Beach grandmother hoped to avoid even a day in prison despite using her managerial accounting job at a Long Beach trucking and warehouse company to steal nearly $3.5 million.
Inside U.S. District Court Judge Cormac J. Carney's Santa Ana courtroom today, Patricia A. Francisco appeared neatly dressed and dignified, except when she quietly wept upon learning her alleged luxury shopping addiction excuse would not rescue her from lengthy incarceration.
"Shopping addiction is real," an impassioned Diane Bass, Francisco's court-appointed defense lawyer, argued as what she labeled "significant" mitigation for punishment reduction.
But a clearly unimpressed Assistant United States Attorney Brett A. Sagel noted that the thief's 16-year scheme diverted company funds to selfishly enhance her lifestyle, including:
--buying a house less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean; --spending $50,000 on remodeling; --purchasing a Huntington Beach condo near Beach Boulevard; --buying a new, $40,000 Cadillac Escalade; --collecting more than $300,000 in jewelry; --spending $30,000 on two plastic surgeries; --buying expensive shoes, clothes and handbags; --taking trips to Hawaii, Oklahoma, and, for gambling, Las Vegas' The Mirage, Excalibur and Monte Carlo.
"This was not impulse buying," Sagel said. "This was planning and anything short of the guideline [sentencing] recommendation [of 63 months in prison] sends the wrong signal."
But Bass continued her attack on the government's stance, urging the judge to consider that Francisco grew up with an overly-demanding, fireman father and her "most striking" feature: "how cooperative she has been" with investigating FBI Special Agents Paul Bonin and Brian Reilly.
Bass suggested no prison time so that Francisco can work as a esthetician. She also said her client's life already looks dismal because she will soon surrender her $619,000 retirement account to her victims as partial reimbursement.
"She will have nothing," the defense lawyer said. "She will be living in her daughter's basement in Oakland . . . It's not an enviable position to be in."
Sagel called Bass' position "disingenuous" and re-characterized the degree of cooperation.
