THE SHED business owner responsible for ripping off Ipswich families is living in a newly renovated house, driving a flash ute and has a new business premises down the road.
Paul DeBruin is yet to have the decency to show his face and tell us what he has done with the hard-earned money of the Patios and Sheds Ipswich customers featured in the QT, as well as a long list of tradesmen and former employees.
Instead, he is hiding behind the locked gates of his home in Loganholme which, coincidentally, has recently undergone extensive renovations.
The QT visited Mr DeBruin's family home and his new business premises, located at 3/8 Maiella St, Stapylton, yesterday.
Although his black Holden ute was in the driveway, nobody emerged from the front door when the QT knocked at the front gate, which was locked.
The business premises at Stapylton was also locked, however a skinny, shirtless man answered the door. He said Mr DeBruin was not present, and when asked how customers could get into contact with the owner, he quickly shut the door. It was unclear what sort of business was being run from the new premises.
It's no surprise that Mr DeBruin is keeping a low profile, as the QT has been told by numerous sources that some of the former employees and tradesmen that worked for him have been chasing their money for a long time.
One source told the QT that Mr DeBruin operated two similar companies at Loganholme, prior to Patios and Sheds Ipswich - one of those was called Sunrise Erections and the other was Queensland Steel Constructions.
Both of the businesses went into receivership.
"Paul could sell ice to Eskimos and they will still thank him for it," the source said.

This is the time you are told love is in the air, along with inflated paper hearts and red balloons. But if you want to escape all the glitz and find quiet romance among the piers and patios, or find a new experience to immerse yourself in, this weekend may just be right.
Pick up a new skill:
Brew your own coffee: Skip the champagne and raise a toast with coffee that you brew on Valentines Day. Dreamers Caf, which sits close to the Visitors Centre, known for its pastries and coffee blended by Marc Tormo, will give visitors an insight into the rituals of coffee making, from roasting beans to making different blends. The team at the caf, enriched by its tour of coffee farms and participation in the World Cacao Summit 2014, is keen to share its experiences with those who swear by coffee or want to roast their own cacao. You may walk away with a recipe or two after the session that will begin at 4 p.m.
Grow your own paper: If the smell of paper is your favourite scent on earth, then you should give this workshop a try and gain an ancient but cool skill making your own paper. Auroville Papers, which has been manufacturing handmade paper and paper products for 15 years, will guide participants in harvesting plants, preparing fibre, making pulp, and carrying out the different techniques of couching, lifting and drying and ultimately making their own creations out of handmade paper. Materials will be supplied at the workshop on February 14. For fees and details, call 0413 2622 122
Try warm water as therapy: Lying back and letting warm water wash all over you is a languid alternative to a day filled with exploration. The Paradise Spa at the Dune Eco Resort has introduced Watsu, a Zen Shiatsu inspired treatment which taps into the therapeutic benefits of warm water. Couples can avail themselves of special sessions on February 14. The therapy apparently allows you to float freely, with the waters rhythm providing light acupressure and replicating a cradling movement akin to a baby suspended in the womb.
If music be the food of love:
Pondy is all ready to rock, roll and jazz with eight back-to-back concerts lined up for a four day music festival which forms the highlight of the month-long Pondy Partages 2015, hosted by the Alliance Francaise and Department of Tourism.
Bengaluru-based Mad Orange Fireworks will get Friday night on its feet with their own brand of music which they call as Orange Rock- a blend of jazz, rock, funk and pop. Following the act is Ministry of Blues who do not play lonesome, soulful blues but rather infuse classic blues with modern rock. Kicking Saturday night into swinging mode will be Latination, a quartet comprising French and Indian musicians whose promise to mix up some rumba with modern jazz, Latin boleros with compelling Afro-Cuban dance music. Chennai-based F16 will end the night taking alternative dance music to a high-energy level. Sunday night begins with a strong tropical breeze as Monique Fatna renders Caribbean spiritual numbers. Bringing the curtains down are Lagori, whose brand of music is touted to be a catchy combination of Indian classical melodies with Rock music. All concerts are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Kamban Kalai Arangam.
Screen Affair:
This weekend Auroville hosts a marathon of a different kind one that will appeal to film buffs rather than fitness freaks. The 7 Panorama of Contemporary Indian Cinema, a collaborative initiative by Aurofilm and the Directorate of Film Festivals, Delhi will screen movies in the regional languages, including Bengali, Kannada, Marathi and Odia on all three days of the weekend. The movies span a spectrum of subjects from a relationship between two dwarves who work in a circus (Chhotoder Chobri) and a mother-child relationship that explores the conflict between scientific curiosity and spiritual traditions (Elisabeth Ekadashi) to an Odisha tribes first contact with modern civilization in Adim Vishar) and indebtedness in rural Maharashtra (Ek Hazarachi Note). P. Sheshadri, Kannada director behind various award-winning films, will participate in the festival at Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas in Auroville.

FUNDING cuts have hit Bradford almost 15 times harder than wealthy parts of the South, new analysis shows despite the city facing much higher care bills.
The study highlights the areas where people suffer most from poor physical and mental health, disability and early death, imposing huge extra costs on local councils.
Bradford is the 37th worst-hit of 325 authorities for "health deprivation and disability", according to the House of Commons library analysis.
And, since 2010, it has lost 213.04 of its overall spending power for every resident, according to a separate study by finance chiefs at Newcastle City Council.
Yet, the average loss in the five areas with the fewest sick and disabled people, and, therefore, much lower care costs, is calculated at just 15.41 per head approaching 15 times less.
Incredibly, spending power has actually risen at one authority, Elmbridge, in Surrey - up 8.14 per head - while it has plummeted in Bradford, down 213.04.
The gulf is seen as crucial because social care is the biggest financial burden for councils - gobbling up one third of Bradfords budget - with responsibility for public health now added.
Recently, the charity Age UK warned that older people have been left high and dry by council cutbacks to help with washing and dressing, to day care places and meals on wheels services.
Councillor Amir Hussain, Bradfords executive member for health and social care, said that was not the case in the city, thanks to back office cuts and efficiencies.
But he warned: We are reaching the point where, if these cuts continue, we will have no option but to look at what services we can no longer provide.

CUTS have hit the regions town halls nine times harder than wealthy parts of the South, a new analysis shows despite the North facing much higher care bills.
The study highlights the areas where people suffer most from poor physical and mental health, disability and early death, imposing huge extra costs on local councils.
The worst-hit fifth of 325 authorities includes no fewer than ten North-East areas, a list headed by Middlesbrough which is ranked fourth for health deprivation and disability.
Not far behind are Newcastle (13th), Hartlepool (14th), Gateshead (17th), Darlington (20th), Redcar and Cleveland (21st), Sunderland (25th) and County Durham (28th), followed by Stockton-on-Tees (51st) and South Tyneside (65th).
On average, those ten councils have lost 213.04 of their overall spending power for every resident since 2010, according to finance chiefs at Newcastle City Council.
Yet, the average loss in the ten areas with the fewest sick and disabled people, and much lower care costs, is calculated at just 23.19 per head more than nine times less.
Incredibly, spending power has actually risen at one authority, Elmbridge, in Surrey (up 8.14 per head) - while it has plummeted in Middlesbrough (down 289.02).
The gulf is seen as crucial because social care is the biggest financial burden for cash-strapped councils, which are now also responsible for public health.
Recently, the charity Age UK warned that older people have been left high and dry by council cutbacks to help with washing and dressing, to day care places and meals on wheels services.
