Honeywell Aerospace is flight testing emerging technologies like touch and voice recognition in the cockpit. (Photo: Courtesy of Honeywell Aerospace)
PHOENIX The pilot gives one simple command: "Departure."
That one spoken word triggers the tablet mounted in the middle of the cockpit to initiate the process.
The pilot is using voice-recognition technology that officials with Phoenix-based Honeywell Aerospace call a "huge advancement" in the cockpit.
Without the technology, the pilot would have to type in several commands.
Jim Anderson, a veteran pilot and lecturer in the aviation program at Arizona State University, said that current control systems force him to look down.
"(I have to) lower my head, and it takes away from looking outside," he said. "Voice recognition is the next step. You can just say it."
Honeywell's aerospace division, which focuses on inventing and manufacturing cutting-edge technology for the aviation industry, is testing the device at Phoenix Deer Valley Airport.
The tablet not only includes voice recognition, but it also features a new touchscreen. Honeywell officials want to include text-to-voice features in the future.

After a series of roadblocks, the decks seem to be clearing for the Ilanthaikulam IT Park, a project of the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), to become functional in the next few months.
All the available space in the 50,000 square feet building has been booked. While three companies have already resumed operations, we expect all others to occupy space latest by April 1, said an ELCOT official.
Built over 28 acres, the IT Park, which was inaugurated in February 2011, had initially found only a few takers which IT entrepreneurs attributed to a host of reasons, including the global economic downturn.
Apart from the built up space, the premises also has land where companies can construct their own buildings and operate. The recent occupation of 4.5 acres of land by the renowned Bengaluru- based Honeywell is seen as a positive sign of development for the IT Park.
At present, the second floor of the built up space is empty and ready for occupation while 6,000 square feet in the first floor remains empty as well.
Most companies, who are yet to occupy the park, have signed the lease agreement and have a few approvals and other formalities to complete. There is a definite improvement in the situation now as far as the functioning of the IT Park goes, after the initial lull, said Kathir Kamanathan, Chief Executive Officer of Chella Software. The Madurai-based company too has been allotted land at the IT Park.
Manikandan. A, Project Manager, Sai BPO Services Limited, which is functioning at the Ilanthaikulam IT park since August 2014, said that the facilities at the park were satisfactory.
With adequate car and two-wheeler parking as well as connectivity from the Mattuthavani bus stand through private buses and share autos, we have been functioning smoothly here. There is immense potential to put the space available to use and we are hoping that the other companies will occupy the park soon, he said.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado (PRWEB) February 12, 2015
Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is a perennial favorite of the snow gods every year, but in this 2014-2015 ski season of off and on storms in the West, Steamboat once again has received a timely powder dump. The Porches of Steamboat, a neighborhood of signature luxury townhomes located near the base of the ski mountain, has announced both an increase of available units in their rental program and a 15% discount for the remainder of the season. We are pleased to be able to expand our luxury rental program said Porches General Manager Emilie Crider. Our larger homes, the 4,000 and 5,000 square feet units, have been in demand for extended families and multiple families who like to ski together, so in our neighborhood, we see these generations and collections of families able to all come out at once and be under the same roof. Our largest homes will sleep up to 14 people. The Porches rental program includes homes from 3,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet, with spacious common areas, gourmet kitchens, game rooms with a pool table, complimentary Wi-Fi, several flat screen TVs in every unit, and garages.
Steamboat Springs is a refreshing anomaly in the wide spectrum of snowy Colorado vacation resorts. Located northwest of Denver just over the Continental Divide via Rabbit Ears Pass, the ski area is situated on Mt. Werner. Originally this area was all agricultural, with acres and acres of ranch land. Today it is a point of great pride with the locals that Steamboat remains a cowboy town, a friendly and down-to-earth family destination. In recent years the demand for more upscale lodging was answered by building modern, more high-end hotel rooms and condos, but the opening of a 16 acre neighborhood called The Porches of Steamboat offered luxury townhomes with unprecedented size and interior spaces. My partner and I had skied in all the resorts in Colorado, and our research showed that what families need when they come for a long ski week is space, places to put clothing and equipment, and places where all can gather at once, said Porches owner Bruce Shugart. Plus, we wanted our neighborhood to be a retreat for all four seasons. Its hard to pick a favorite time in these beautiful mountains.
March and April are traditionally two of the snowiest months in Colorado, and Spring skiing under bright sun and bluebird skies makes these later months some of the most desirable weeks to book. Steamboat Springs, with some 13 feet of snow on the ground and with discounts on luxury rentals could be the ski mountain of choice for the serious powder hounds this season.
About The Porches at Steamboat Springs
The Porches is a neighborhood of homes located close to the base of the ski mountain in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. These high end, thoughtfully crafted homes range in size from 3,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet and they feature hand-hewn beams, professional kitchens, the finest cabinetry, custom ranch stone fireplaces, and of course, comfortable and inviting porches. These luxury homes are available for whole and fractional ownership, and as luxury rentals.

Hatfield, PA (PRWEB) February 12, 2015
Just a few days after learning they had swept the bathroom remodeling categories for the 2015 Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards at the local level, Masters Design Build has been honored with three regional CotY awards for the same projects. They are the only contractor in the Northeast region to win three CotY awards this year.
Winners of the local CotYs were announced at the annual Evening of Excellence Awards Gala on Friday, January 30th at the William Penn Inn in Gwynedd, Pa. The event was hosted by the Bucks-Mont chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Masters Design Build is the only contractor to win three CotYs within the Bucks-Mont chaptertaking the honors in all three bathroom categories: $25k to $50k, $50k to $75k, and $75k to $100k.
This marks the fifth year that Masters Design Build has taken home CotY awards, demonstrating their consistency in producing award-winning work. This is also the second time Masters Design Build has taken home three CotY awards. In 2012, they received recognition for Addition Under $100K, Kitchen from $40K to $80K and Kitchen from $80K to $120K.
While they may go by the same name, the local and regional CotY awards are two separate competitions, judged by different panels of industry experts. Local CotY awards are presented by local NARI chapters, while the regional awards are conducted under the supervision NARIs national office in Des Plaines, IL. The national organization separates their chapters across the United States into seven regions. CotY Award winners in each region then compete against winners from other regions to determine a national winner in each category. Winners of the national CotY awards will be announced at NARIs Evening of Excellence on Friday, April 17th in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
As expected, Brian and Cheryl Martin, owners of Masters Design Build, are thrilled with the outcomes of both awards programs. It is incredibly gratifying to have our work recognized at both the local and regional level. None of this would be possible without the support of a talented team of craftsmen, and the faith of our wonderful clients who entrusted us with remodeling their homes.
Although the Hatfield-based contractor performs a wide range of remodeling services from kitchens to entire home renovations, each of their winning projects this year were master bathroom remodels. In each project, the team overcame unique challenges in order to successfully renovate the spaces. In particular, the $75k-$100k category presented serious structural challenges from the beginning. The English Tudor style home had been built in the 1920s, and lacked certain structural support necessary to keep the home in regulatory compliance. The bathroom had been remodeled previously, but the structural problems were not addressed and the floor sagged significantly. Masters Design Build had to correct these issues before creating the rustically beautiful space the homeowners now enjoy.
The Master's Design Build Group is an award-winning, full-service design-build remodeler and general contractor located in Hatfield, PA. on the border of Bucks and Montgomery County. With more than 25 years of experience in the construction field, Martin and his team pride themselves on a comprehensive understanding of their craft, and strive to build a foundation of trust with their clients.

ST. JOHN the Baptist Church, which was built by Franciscan missionaries during the Spanish colonial period, in Camalig, Albay, has been declared a historical landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. MICHAEL B. JAUCIAN
Imelda Moraleda has bound her life and faith to the massive stone church built by Franciscan missionaries during the Spanish colonial period in the 1800s in Camalig town in Albay province.
The church is indeed a very old church that provided us refuge during the war, says Moraleda, 84, who goes regularly to the St. John the Baptist Church, which was recently declared a historical landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
Describing the place of worship as God-given, she recalls that during World War II in 1942-1945, it sheltered town residents during the Japanese occupation and when the Americans came to liberate the country.
She was a teenager then during the war years and was asked to play the piano during the daily Mass, while Japanese soldiers watched the parishioners every movement. There was no way to escape the garrison of the Japanese soldiers, which was just located at the back of St. John the Baptist Church, she remembers.
The NHCPs board of commissioners approved the declaration of the church as a historical landmark after noting its significant contributions to Camaligs history.
The marker is very educational on the part of the tourists as it will give them an idea of how Christianity started, said the agencys executive director, Ludovico Badoy, who attended the unveiling ceremony on Dec. 14, 2014.
The Franciscan missionaries administered the church for over 400 years, from 1579-1983, according to the marker. Originally, it existed as a structure of wood and nipa from 1579 to 1580.
The second church was made from stone by prisoners in 1605. It was, however, destroyed by successive eruptions of Mayon Volcano from 1766 to 1814.
