Pest control to check for bed bugs next week

    Saturday, February 7, 2015 4:05 AM EST

    Titusville Herald

Titusville Area School District reports that the pest management company that was hired to rid Main Street Elementary School of bed bugs is scheduled to return on Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., to conduct further inspection and reapply appropriate pesticide.

The pests were discovered last week and treated Monday evening in some of the school's bathrooms.

According to school district Superintendent Karen Jez, in the event that bed bugs are rediscovered by the pest inspection company, the district will repeat the same process, including having the exterminators return for follow-up treatment and bagging personal belongings.

"At the direction of our buildings and grounds and student services directors, the principal, teachers and staff have had the children place their personal belongings in plastic bags each day this week to prevent the spread of any potential bed bugs from one individual's belongings to another," Jez said. "This is the same process undertaken when lice are found at school."

She added that the treated areas are thoroughly cleaned and the actual pesticide is placed behind the baseboard, inside the wall sockets and walls.

Jez said that in speaking with the pest management company, Ehrlich Pest Control, "our buildings and grounds director is assured that it is safe for our students and employees to be in the school building following the application process."

Since the bugs are most likely riding to school on someone, Jez reminded families in a letter posted on the district's website, gorockets.org, to inspect their homes.

Families out of pocket as doors close on shed company

    - February 8, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

A BUNDAMBA couple has been left $1400 out of pocket after the company they paid to supply two roller garage doors vanished with barely a trace.

John and Val Vogel were devastated to find the premises of Patios and Sheds Ipswich locked and deserted, after the company failed to deliver and install a roller-door kit they'd paid a deposit for before Christmas.

Mr Vogel, who is terminally ill, and Mrs Vogel, said they didn't even have a way of contacting the company, with phone numbers not working and the company's website now shut down.

The Vogels are not the only people who have been left out of pocket, with the QT being told that Patios and Sheds Ipswich had been locked out of its Warwick Rd premises due to the non-payment of rent.

Mrs Vogel said she and her husband had taken the matter up with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, which was now investigating Patios and Sheds Ipswich.

"We went out there just before Christmas," Mrs Vogel said.

"They told us that if we paid them the deposit straight away, we would have our doors just after Christmas.

"After a few weeks of waiting we decided to go around there to see them.

"When we arrived, nearly everything was gone.

"There was a phone number on the fence for the person who owns the property."

Good Samaritan reports burglary in his street and discovers thief is his own SON

    - February 8, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

A Good Samaritan was shocked when he reported a neighbours burglary on his street - and police arrested, charged and jailed his own SON.

Honest Peter Eveson, 59, called police after hearing an alarm go off, and discovering a neighbours patio doors had been smashed.

When his son Peter Eveson Jnr, 39, became agitated by the 999, his father asked him if he knew anything about the raid, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard.

But despite the sons denials, he later admitted the burglary in Meir, Staffs, and has now been jailed for two-and-a-half years for last Novembers afternoon raid.

Jailing Eveson Jr, Judge David Fletcher said: You will be 40 next year, by the time of your release probably 41.

That may be an opportunity for you to take stock of your life. At the time it is in complete chaos.

Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said: His father went to check as the alarm was sounding and discovered the rear patio doors had been smashed.

He reported the matter to the police. The defendant became agitated.

His father challenged him and asked if he was responsible for the burglary. He denied it and said he would not do it at his doorstep.

Eveson also burgled a house in Longton, Staffs, that month - using a garden ornament to smash his way into the conservatory but did not gain entry to the house and nothing was stolen.

BURGLARY: Peter Eveson broke into a home just yards from his dads property

BURGLAR Peter Eveson broke into a home just yards from his dads property only to deny it was anything to with him when his father became suspicious.

The 39-year-old targeted the house in the same Meir street as his relatives before going round an hour later.

But he became agitated when his dad called the police after hearing an alarm and discovering the patio doors at a neighbouring property had been smashed.

Eveson, above, insisted he was innocent telling his father he would not commit such a crime on his doorstep.

But he later admitted the burglary and has now been jailed for 876 days at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said the victim left his house in Penfleet Avenue, Meir, secure on the afternoon of November 27.

But when his mum visited to feed the cat at 3.45pm she found the glass door had been broken. She then noticed Beatrice Potter figures had been stolen and called the police.

A cordless telephone, jewellery and earrings were also taken in the raid.

Eveson had visited his fathers house at 3.30pm but left when he discovered he was not there. But at 5pm the defendant returned to his dads home.

Burglar arrested after his own father calls police to report break-in on his street

    - February 8, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

"That may be an opportunity for you to take stock of your life. At the time it is in complete chaos."

Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said the victim left his house in Meir, Staffordshire, secure but later that day Mr Eveson heard a neighbour's burglar alarm go off.

"His father went to check as the alarm was sounding and discovered the rear patio doors had been smashed," he added. "He reported the matter to the police. The defendant became agitated.

"His father challenged him and asked if he was responsible for the burglary. He denied it and said he would not do it at his doorstep."

Another neighbour returned home at 5.05pm to find her ground-floor window had been smashed.

At 5.30pm, Eveson visited a nearby house with a bag containing items he was trying to sell, but again became agitated when his former partner turned up and he smashed a window as he left.

Eveson also burgled a house in Longton, Staffordshire, that month - using a garden ornament to smash his way into the conservatory, but did not gain entry to the house and nothing was stolen.

He accidentally left his DNA on vertical blinds and later pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary, asking for four other house burglaries to be taken into consideration.

He also admitted two charges of criminal damage.

The court was told he has 39 convictions for 79 offences, including 20 previous convictions for burglary.

North West decorators merchant celebrates 30 years in business and launches new online store

    - February 8, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bury, Greater Manchester (PRWEB UK) 6 February 2015

Decor8 Northern - decorators merchants in Bury and Manchester - is celebrating 30 years in business this year.

The company has enjoyed three decades of growth, supplying many different customer groups including painters and decorators, painting contractors, local authorities, hotels, property developers, breweries, factories of all types and of course the general public. From its inception in 1985 the main driver for the growth and direction of the company has been to deliver quality products at affordable prices. The directors and staff are continually exploring new, leading technologies from around Europe for the British market and to deliver such cutting edge, innovative products in a professional and reliable manner.

Over that time the company has continually adapted to stay ahead of changes in the market and technology. For many years it has been a very successful online trader promoting and selling many leading international brands and innovative products, including Properla, the latest advanced energy-saving wallcoating product range from Germany.

Decor8 Northern has today marked its 30th anniversary by launching its latest ecommerce site. The new Decor8 Northern Online Store (http://store.decor8northern.co.uk) is now open for business. The site aims to offer the convenience of online buying across the full range of essential trade products for decorators. The store stocks paint, woodstains, workwear, paint brushes, paint rollers, cage frames, extension poles, pasting tables, dust sheets, masking tapes, lining papers, textured papers, pastes and adhesives, abrasives, pasting tables, decorators' tools, and cleaning products. All the major brands are carried, including Dulux Trade, Armstead Trade, Johnstones Trade, Leyland, Crown Trade, Macphersons, Purdy, Corona, Brushmate, Everbuild, Liberon, Sadolin, Rustoleum, Properla, Sandtex, Sikkens, Solvite, Snickers, Ecocoat, Hamilton Acorn, and Frogtape.

According to Decor8 Northern managing director Gary Thompson: "We are excited to be launching this new ecommerce website for decorators. Our new store will enable current and new customers to obtain the full range of decorators' essentials at highly competitive Internet prices and with next day delivery."

The company recognises the need to stand out from the crowd and to offer customers something distinctive. So, the Decor8 Northern Online Store will run monthly promotions for many paint lines and decorating accessories enabling customers to benefit from hugely discounted prices. The company plans also to introduce new products to the market from Germany and the United States so that customers will be able to benefit from the latest decorating technologies available anywhere in the market.

Says Gary Thompson: "Of course, we want our customers to gain competitive advantage from having access to the best possible prices on their materials and equipment. But, just as importantly, we want them to be able to offer and use the latest products, innovations, and technologies available so that they can operate more efficiently than their competitors. Using the best products means you can deliver work more quickly, at lower cost, and to the highest standard, meaning more business, greater customer satisfaction, and higher margins."

Another distinctive characteristic of this new online store is that it encourages customers to recommend friends and colleagues to visit the site and to reward them for doing so. Currently, the site is offering a 20 M&S voucher for referring a new customer.

A further innovation is the Decor8 Northern Essentials Club. By joining the Essentials Club, customers will be notified of the best "when-they're-gone-they're-gone" limited-release deals first, giving them a chance to snap up the opportunities while stocks last.
