Interior designer Kathy Geissler, Best of Kathy Best Design, is thrilled to have her elegant Alpine-style ski escape featured on the cover of esteemed lifestyle publication Gentry Home Magazine. The stunning three-story home, built by award-winning architects at John Malick & Associates, is a true mountain masterpiece and one of Kathys most prized projects. Kathy created the elegant abode for a family of five after her longtime clients said that they were ready to build a ski house inspired by the Tyrolean style winter homes they had seen while abroad in Austria.
Utilizing traditional materials such as stone, stucco, shingles, well-crafted woodwork, and copper-clad windows, the elegant ski abodes intricate exterior detailing clearly reflects its Austrian aesthetic. The photographs that grace Gentrys glossy pages display the designers ability to balance antique Tyrolean-inspired elements with modern accents. The article delves into Kathys masterfully crafted design details, such as how she custom designed a one-of-a-kind floral leitmotif to use throughout the home. With its bespoke details and Old-World appeal, the designer is proud to showcase a family ski home tailored to perfection.

Acclaimed interior designer Scot Meacham Wood is thrilled to announce the Fall 2015 launch of Scot Meacham Wood Home. SMW Home centers on the textile collection which marks Scots evolution from an interior designer into a lifestyle brand influenced by his formative years at Ralph Lauren, the design atelier where he honed his creative talent for thirteen years. While SMW Design will continue to service clients interior needs, Scot Meacham Wood Home will serve as a natural extension of Scots design aesthetic and personality.
Using goods imported from a historic mill in Scotland, SMW Homes fabric collection features 56 sumptuous fabrics--tweeds, tattersalls, and tartans--in three different color palettes. Based in traditional colours, but including shocking yellows and regal purples, the fabrics reflect the countrys history yet still pay homage to Scots Southern roots, with a dash of modernity. The collection updates classic textiles for todays home while maintaining the fine tailored details that best reflect Scotlands romantic charm.
A pattern that has become synonymous with Scots design identity, the tartans are without a doubt the collections signature style. These timeless fabrics draw on the designers penchant for elegant menswear details which often inspire his interiors. Although drawn from tradition, the tartans play with scale in order to accommodate larger elements in the interiors such as drapery and upholstered goods.
Beyond the fabric collection, Scots lifestyle collection will include trimmings, hand-selected antiques, furniture, one-of-a-kind pieces and home accessories. With their vibrant personality and singular attention to detail, SMW Homes offerings are sure to add an element of sophistication to any gracious dwelling.
SMW Homes collection will be available Fall 2015 in HEWN San Francisco (to the trade) and online at http://www.scotmeachamwoodhome.com.

Flames shoot from 78 Holman St. in Fitchburg on Saturday morning as firefighters battle the blaze. (TIMOTHY SHEA PHOTO)
FITCHBURG -- A Holman Street homeowner is in critical condition in a Worcester hospital after he was pulled from his burning home by two Fitchburg police officers Saturday morning, fire officials said.
John R. Saulnier was transported directly to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and is in critical condition, according to fire personnel.
Police Officers Todd Deacon and Michael Sevigny were transported to HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster for what appears to be smoke inhalation after helping rescue Saulnier from a window of the home at 78 Holman St.
Deputy Chief Kevin Curran said when the fire was reported, the two officers were some of the first officers on the scene and helped pull the occupant out of the window.
Police Sgt. Chuck Siomos said the two officers suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Both police officers were treated and released.
A dog living in the home perished in the blaze, according to Curran, and the city annimal control officer was called to the scene.
It appears the homeowner went back inside the home to rescue the dog, according to fire personnel.
Fire Captain Brian Murchie estimated the total damage of the home, including contents, at $225,000.

CASS COUNTY, MO (KCTV) - Crews spent almost five hours battling a fire that fully engulfed a home in rural Harrisonville on Thursday.
By 10 p.m. what was left of the house was smoldering. It's now down to its foundation.
The distraught homeowner arrived some hours later. Jim Burch said he lost his job earlier in the week, and had gone to pick up his last paycheck. When he came home, his home was destroyed.
Burch said his shih tzu, his daughter's dog, and two cats died in the fire.
"It's hard to know what to think," Burch said. "You're kind of in shock. You start realizing all your records and pictures and heirlooms are just gone, and there's now way to get them back."
Burch's house is at East 299th Street and South Hess Road in Cass County. It's just west of Interstate 49.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office says a neighbor called in the fire. The homeowner wasn't there when the fire broke out, and officials contacted him to let him know what had happened.
There was so much fire. We really couldn't get ahead of it, said Harrisonville fire Capt. Johnny Coday.
Central Cass Fire Protection District worked to extinguish the flames which were seen shooting from every inch of the home. Two to three mutual aid companies were also on the scene to help.
The home was fully involved. The front part had already collapsed into the basement, Coday said.
