The owner of the Ocala Gran Prix business, Jorge Arellano, has bought the land beneath the operation, as well as the adjacent I-75 Super Flea Market, for $4.75 million.

The sales price includes the indoor flea market and parking area, which makes up 33.21 acres, as well as the 11.72-acre property west of the flea market area that houses Ocala Gran Prix.

Both properties are adjacent to Interstate 75 and north of U.S. 27.

The properties, at 4121 NW 44th Ave., were previously owned by Donald Denson, Donald N. Denson Children's Irrevocable Trust agreement and Paul R. Fornof of Ocala.

Arellano could not be reached to comment about his plans for the flea market but an assistant said he was still formulating a strategy and was becoming acquainted with the market's workings. He would be more likely to lay out his plans next month, she said.

In addition to owning the Ocala Gran Prix go-cart business, Arellano also owns Private Ocala Aviation, LLC, which offers flight instruction, and Manya Flooring Installation in Jacksonville, according to Florida corporate public records.

Arellano lives in Ocala.

InstallationCalculator.com launched in June of 2014, and since that time Kilgore along with help and feedback from over 50 contractors nationwide formulated an algorithm to take in relevant data points, and spit out the most accurate flooring calculation that could be found anywhere.

We take it all into account, says Kilgore, "from the regional average cost of materials; whether tile, hardwood, carpet, laminate, etc; or the average local cost of labor for installation of that flooring material. Now that the flooring calculator is complete, next on deck is fence repair and installation, then the beast of remodeling.

Kilgore built the proprietary algorithm from scratch. Having the reputation of a computer geek, he spends much of his time off building and developing PHP programs. A few months ago, his hobby turned into an actual business opportunity. Seeing the number of people out there searching the web for how much their home improvement might cost, he decided to spent the bulk of his savings in research and development to generate a useful user engagement tool. Of course, being in competition with large home improvement retailers is challenging, however the online tools their sites mainly focus on are for materials costs only and thereby leave their users somewhat in the dark as to how much installation itself might cost.

Patricia Allspaugh, a user of the site, says, It was so simple and accurate. I talked with a local contractor who gave me an estimate, but their total sounded too high. Sure enough, after using the calculator I found out that they were charging three prices for the labor. Im so grateful I found InstallationCalculator.com. I saved over $3,000 in the span of a few minutes.

A North Berkeley house fire early Monday caused approximately $350,000 in damage and left the home uninhabitable, officials said.

The Berkeley Fire Department received a call at 5:38 a.m. about the fire, in a two-story home in the 1300 block of Delaware Street, between Franklin and Chestnutstreets, said Avery Webb, deputy fire chief.

Webb said a callertold dispatch that lots ofsmoke was coming out from under the eaves of the home, which was not occupied because it was undergoing a remodel.

When firefighters arrived, at 5:44 a.m., they saw fire in the basement area. Inside the basement, they found a gas line feeding the fire, so they shut off gas to the house.

The fire spread through the building, in part, due to the construction project, which had opened up some spots in the wall, Webb said. Fire also made its way upstairs through the chimney chase.

Smoke and flames went all the way up to the attic, Webb said.

The fire initially was dispatched as a single-alarm assignment with four engines, a ladder truck, an ambulance and a battalion chief on scene. About half an hour into the battle to knock down the blaze, it was upgraded to a second-alarm fire bringing three more engines, a ladder truck and an ambulance to the block as it became clear it would take some time to put outthe flames.
