    Should You Start a Business?

TIME Ideas Money Should You Start a Business?

Marty Nemko holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology from UC Berkeley and is a career and personal coach.

While the unemployment rate is down, its still tough to find a stable, well-paying job. So, many people are trying their hand at self-employment. Of course, at least half of new ventures go out of business within a few years.

Should you give self-employment a shot? Perhaps this internal debate will help you decide.

Person: Im sick and tired of working for someone else.

Alter ego: And getting laid off by someone else.

Person: But most businesses go out of business.

Alter ego: And you have no experience running a business. Your odds will be really bad

    Person: But Im smart.

Alter ego: But are you entrepreneurial?

Booze, bikinis and barbies: No festival hangover for Tamworth as city embraces Australia Day spirit

    - January 26, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Jan. 27, 2015, 4 a.m.

AUSTRALIA Day 2015 in Tamworth, as across the nation on our national day, has the cheek to be irreverent, larrikin and laidback.

AUSTRALIA DAY SHENANIGANS: Darren Wilcox and all his B&S mates celebrated yesterday in quite an unusual way - bikinis! Front: Anthony Russo, left, Luke Currin (bear suit) and Luke Cowling caught the eye of many passers-by - and no wonder! Photo: Gareth Gardner 260115GGB01

AUSTRALIA Day 2015 in Tamworth, as across the nation on our national day, has the cheek to be irreverent, larrikin and laidback.

As well there was a fair bit of music overhang, as Tamworth showed it still had an overflow of great energy to celebrate Australia Day yesterday, bookending the 10-day Tamworth Country Music Festival and rounding it off in style.

People were out and about at pools, parks and dams, playing cricket, eating off Australia Day plates and drinking out of Australia Day cups.

Some, like Darren Wilcox and all his bachelor and spinster mates who had attended theTamworth Ute Show the day prior at Tamworth Showground, decided to go all out in Mr Wilcoxs paddock.

They strapped three gazebos together, marked out a cricket pitch, set up two splash pools for their children and barbecued up a storm from 6am, starting with lashings of bacon and eggs.

Mr Wilcox said the15 utes and 20-strong gathering had attracted a fair bit of attention from passers-by, as people had been stopping to take photos of them.

Its probably the best one weve done for a while, Mr Wilcox said.

Fences on A31 to be replaced a year after biker died in collision with pony

    - January 26, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

HIGHWAYS bosses are to replace fences on the New Forests busy A31 a year after a motorcyclist died in a collision with a stray pony.

Bournemouth man Daniel Robins, 31, was one of two riders involved in a collision with the animal on the westbound A31 at Picket Post near Ringwood on January 22 2014.

Police had initially closed the road after the pony was spotted but then reopened the route after failing to find the animal. The Highways Agency says the decision to replace three stretches of fencing, totalling around 1.5 miles, is not related to the accident.

A spokesman for the agency said work would begin on February 2 to replace the first of three sections and would be finished by the end of March.

The bill is expected to come to 450,000.

Its part of normal maintenance and updating work, said the spokesman.

The fence posts there are reaching the end of their useful life.

The three stretches of fencing to be replaced are as follows:

    - On the westbound carriageway, west of Stoney Cross to the Moggshade Underpass

    - On the eastbound carriageway, from the Moggshade Underpass to around 300 metres west of Stoney Cross
