WEST AKRON Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home and Cremation Services is inviting families who used their services in the past year to attend a holiday memorial service for their loved ones.
A Year of Remembrance will take place today, Dec. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 529 W. Thornton St. Stewart and Calhoun staff will help celebrate and remember those who have passed through songs, words of comfort, praise and presentation of an engraved memento that will serve as a lasting memory.
Support also will be provided by Robert DeJournett, community outreach director at Summa Health System, and Marilyn Rivers & Co., accompanied by Minister of Music Myron Brown and 12-year-old vocalist Elijah Johnson. In addition, ambassadors from Summa Health System, Akron General Medical Center and the House of the Lord Grief Recovery Center will be available to speak with attendees and provide information on managing life after the loss of a loved one.

Health system officials said the UH Fairlawn Health Center offers urgent care, radiology and lab services, as well as primary care, rheumatology, colorectal surgery, cardiology, pediatrics and pediatric specialty care, including endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology and sports medicine. Services began this month.
With an investment of more than $4 million, UH transformed 35,000 square feet of an existing office building into the new health center, located just off Interstate 77 at state Route 18.
This new health center enables us to bring our services together in a location that creates greater access for residents of Fairlawn and the Greater Akron region, said Richard Hanson, president of UH Community Hospitals and Ambulatory Network. Additionally, a patients care at UH Fairlawn Health Center will be fully integrated and coordinated with the expert care provided throughout the University Hospitals health system.
With the addition of UH Fairlawn Health Center, UH now has 15 hospitals, 29 health centers and more than 100 physician locations throughout Northeast Ohio. UH also has outpatient health centers in Wadsworth, Medina and Hudson.

SARASOTA - A custom-built home on Roberts Bay sold Tuesday for $4.2 million, a markup of nearly $500,000 since it last changed hands just one year ago.
Built in 2008, the 5,040-square-foot estate has four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. It sits on nearly half of an acre at 1447 Tangier Way in the neighborhood of San Remo Estates, property records show.
Flanked with plank walnut floors, the luxury abode also features marble countertops, tongue-in-groove wood ceilings, a chefs kitchen and a home office. There are several outdoor terraces and a waterfront pool overlooking the private boat dock, with more than 200 feet of basin-to-bay waterfront.
The property, listed for $4.595 million by Karen Greco of the Palmer Ranch of Michael Saunders & Co., was sold to buyers represented by Mark McCann, of the firms Siesta Key office.
The property was last owned by Richard and Melissa Hall, who bought the home in October 2013 for $3.725 million, records show.
Earlier this week, Naples-based London Bay homes bought a vacant lot on Siesta Keys Solymar Drive for $1.55 million.
GRT Developments is the subsidiary of Naples homebuilder London Bay Homes that bought the property at 3922 Solymar Drive on Siesta Key, records show.
The seller was an Independence, Iowa, company managed by James L. Blin that paid $1.92 million for the waterfront lot in September 1999, records show.

I tell customers that square foot pricing is where quality goes to die. I'm teasing partially, but not entirely. Two homes exactly the same size and shape, one well-built with a higher price tag, one with corners cut everywhere and lower price tag... that 2nd home (the poorer quality one) will have a better price per square foot. Where's the hidden cheap in the cheaper price?
Anyways, tough to price your example, as things such as height to eave, roof pitch, number of windows, excavation (etc. etc. etc.) really change the equation significantly. I could easily price 2 car garages of the same size and shape.. one with a price tag of $20,000... and the same footprint for $120,000. Depends on what you want.
Another factor is who you choose to build for you. A small builder may have less overhead. A larger builder may have advantages in other areas.
Sorry, this doesn't answer your question exactly. My feeling is that by the time windows, shingles, brick three sides, slab, excavation, windows, garage door, man entry door, gutters, overhangs, insulation, wiring, sheetrock (finished, painted), base trim/window/door trim... Plus tie in to existing structure seamlessly... The price from my company would be much higher than $16K, likely double (although I only priced it very quickly with a lot of assumptions).

Grand Theft Auto Online players hoping to celebrate the holidays in Los Santos can download the "Festive Surprise" update to add snowball fights, Christmas sweaters and more,Rockstar Games announced today.
A new homing missile launcher and proximity mines are available permanently, as are new vehicles Hot Rod Christmas Ratloader, Slam Van, and the Massacro and Jester sports cars. Players can now own a third garage to stash their cars, and weaponscan be found at in-game store Ammu-Nation.
Other additions include seasonal clothing items such as scarves, masks and holiday pajamas for free. These items will be available until Jan. 5. Special holiday crate drops will also begin dropping "frequently" until that end date.
