Home Fabric Design Company, Robert Allen, Unveils a New Crowd-Sourced Program and the 2015 Interior Designer Color of …

    - December 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 11, 2014

Robert Allen, known for leading color vision in the interiors industry, has announced the results of its inaugural Interior Designer Color of the Year program. For this new initiative, the company invited designers to vote for the It color of 2015, based on five options predicted by the color experts at Robert Allen. Calypso Blue was selected as the 2015 Interiors Color of the Year, winning with over 30% of the votes from nearly 1,500 designers and interior experts.

Robert Nachman, Vice President of Marketing for Robert Allen, explained, We have a 75-year history of color expertise at Robert Allen, and the design team constantly reinvents color in fresh, creative ways geared specifically towards the interior design community. By incorporating interior designers into the Color of the Year selection process, we know that Calypso Blue will be a color with great versatility and applicability across a wide variety of projects.

Robert Allen Director of Fabric Design Hannah Alderson adds, Calypso Blue is a vibrant color with bold, inky undertones. It represents where design is headed in the coming year, a reinterpreted twist on a classic shade, and were excited to see how designers use it in their interiors throughout 2015.

The preliminary Interior Designer Color of the Year selection began with the Robert Allen design team. The companys internal trend and color experts studied colors present on the fashion runways, in current interiors, and throughout history to observe past patterns and determine which would be the hottest hues for 2015. After choosing a range of shades across many different families of colors, Robert Allen sent its top choices to interior designers and industry professionals and tasked them to make their own predictions for the Interior Designer Color of the Year in 2015. The winning color, Calypso Blue, radiates a lively and elegant aesthetic, and will be featured in upcoming Spring 2015 collections from The Robert Allen Group.

For more information, please visit Robert Allen's website or call 800-333-3777 to make a private appointment at one of the companys showrooms or New York City studio.

CIOs should become more like interior designers,' says local government CIO

    - December 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

CIOs should become more like interior designers, according to the CIO of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Rocco Labellarte.

Speaking at Computing's inaugural IT Leaders Summit, Labellarte compared a homeowner who opens up their house to an interior designer to a business reaching out to the CIO to ask for their advice on where the business should go.

"If a stranger knocks on your door, would you let them in? Why is it that when someone is spending a lot of money on a home, they call in an interior designer? He doesn't know your home, or what it looks like and he doesn't know you," he said.

Labellarte suggested that the CIO should be perceived in the same way as a homeowner sees an interior designer, as someone "having a vision, being an expert, a trusted guide".

In his presentation, Labellarte claimed that CIOs sometimes struggle to get through the glass ceiling' to get access to the business.

"I've pushed through multi-million pound deals simply by getting the right people to talk to one another," he said, before adding that on other occasions his plans have hit a brick wall.

ButLabellartebelieves that CIOs do have an opportunity to change the way things are.

"There is a way forward for CIOs, where if we want to be a part of the board we have to start talking to each other and start helping each other deliver," he said.

"We speak, but do we share? If we want to move into the board then we need to communicate with each other - our networking has to get better," he stated.

He believes that boards need to change their attitude towards the CIO and be more willing to ask IT where the business should be going.

Interior Designer Vanessa McBride Wows with TeedHaze Luxe Lounge Installation, Inspired by the Debauchery of a …

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2014

Interior designer and stylist Vanessa McBride of Vanessa McBride Design partnered with Weaver Design Group and Michelle Bello Fine Art Consulting to create a fabulous holiday pop-up lounge experience, located in the showroom of San Francisco-based real estate group TeedHaze. The installation is a collaborative effort from McBride and Weaver. The duo was immediately inspired to create the installation after spotting a pair of Alice in Wonderland chairs and a stunning emerald green Diane Von Furstenberg snow leopard rug from Hewn Showroom. The result is a 1920s-influenced space for sipping and socializing, with a bend toward the avant-garde - a perfect compliment to San Francisco during the holidays.

Other standout pieces include a mid-century table, lucite bar cart, and vintage hair-on-hide chairs from Coup dEtat; a stunning modern Y light from artist Christopher Boots available through The NwBlk; black and white felted wool pillows from Cavalier; vintage ikat prints from Madeline Weinrib; and original photography by Marilyn Minter depicting women eating their fine jewelry - a cheeky, artistic representation of overindulgence. Visitors can expect a space that transports them to the luxe debauchery of a bygone era, but is still deeply rooted in modern design.

TeedHaze is located at 1934 Union St., San Francisco, CA, 94123, and invites visitors to drop in Monday through Friday, from 11am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. The Luxe Lounge runs through December 31, 2014. Entry is complimentary with RSVP.

About Vanessa McBride Influenced by living and traveling abroad, Vanessa McBrides approach to design combines elements borrowed from a variety of cultures and aspires to create timeless design by balancing clean, modern lines and classic materials with the whimsical or unexpected. She founded Vanessa McBride Design in order to create spaces influenced by her unique design vision as well as to bring her commitment to organization, clarity and precision to the design process.

Wiring blamed for Rantoul house fire

    - December 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

RANTOUL Substandard electrical wiring was blamed for a fire that caused an estimated $20,000 damage to a Rantoul home Sunday evening.

Firefighters were called to 620 N. Penfield St. at 11:30 p.m.

The house (occupied by Jim Hamilton) was full of smoke when we arrived with a small amount of flames showing around the door header when you enter the kitchen, Fire Chief Ken Waters said.

He said the fire had extended into the wall cavity of the ceiling and started into the second floor, where firefighters were able to contain it.

Cause of the fire was an electric heater in the living room that was plugged into an outlet with substandard wiring. The wires overheated and caught the interior of the wall on fire.

Fire Investigators Say Occupants Of Muskogee Home Were Stealing Electricity

    - December 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma - Two men are in critical condition after a Muskogee house fire and two women are in jail.

Investigators said what was happening inside the home was criminal.

Fire investigators said the people inside the house were stealing electricity from the next-door neighbor and likely trying to power the entire house. 12/10/2014 Related Story: Two Men Critically Injured In Muskogee House Fire

Muskogee Fire Marshal Ray Bob Daniels raked through what's left of the back room of a house on Eastside Boulevard.

There's a breaker panel just on the other side of that wall, he said.

Wiring, that Daniels said was attached to that breaker panel, snakes down the back steps and straight to the neighbor's power box outside.

You can see where it has been cut right here, and then you can see where we have wires exposed right here in this box which supplies electricity to this air conditioner, Daniels said.

Daniels said it's possible the fire sparked because the wiring couldn't handle the amount of power the people were trying to use.

There were also several space heaters throughout the house.

I don't know if they had the wiring plugged into a heater... just don't know what was going on in there, he said.
