The holiday season is one of the most excitingand stressfultimes of the year. Homeowners often undertake home improvement projects, hoping to leave a positive, lasting impression on family and friends, especially in high-traffic areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. Traditional renovations, however, can be time-consuming, expensive, and stressful. Miracle Method, the nations leading provider of surface refinishing products and services for tile and laminate surfaces, offers promotional pricing nationwide to help alleviate some of that stress.
With the holidays just around the corner, Miracle Method is offering quick, cost-effective solutions to homeowners who seek more affordable, convenient alternatives to traditional remodeling and replacement. Miracle Method can completely refinish damaged, dated or worn kitchen countertops, bathtubs and tile to look brand-new and guest-ready in just 2 to 3 days. And most transformations cost about 75% less than traditional remodels, explains Chuck Pistor, President of Miracle Method, so homeowners can concentrate on whats really important during the holiday season.
The surface refinishing process has opened up a multitude of remodeling options that were once available only to those with clear schedules and extensive budgets. For example, homeowners can easily change outdated bathroom colors and update laminate kitchen countertops with a completely new finish. Treating existing fixtures and surfaces also extends their lives and keeps those materials out of landfills. The end result is a durable, eco-friendly, like-new look and feel that is more practical and convenient than renovation.
While Miracle Methods seasonal sale is nationwide, each franchisee has the autonomy to offer the promotional pricing that best meets the needs of its market. We understand the importance of quick turnaround, affordability, convenience, and quality, says Pistor, especially during the holidays. With more than a million satisfied customers, Miracle Method Surface Refinishing has been relieving the stress of the holiday season for homeowners since 1979.
To schedule your in-home estimate, visit Miracle Method.com or call 888-271-7690. With more than 135 offices across the US and Canada, Miracle Method can help transform nearly any home anywhere, for a stress-free holiday season.

The federal government has suffered a surprise defeat on a temporary scheme to determine future wages for intellectually disabled Australians.
The federal government on Monday was confident it had the support of enough crossbench senators for its temporary scheme - known as a business services wage assessment tool - to pass the upper house.
But despite securing the support of the Palmer United Party the legislation was defeated, with three key crossbench senators siding instead with Labor and the Australian Greens.
Assistant social services minister Mitch Fifield, who argued the scheme would have given disabled Australians greater choice, was clearly unimpressed.

"There will now not be a business services wage assessment tool payment scheme because of the way you voted," he told the chamber.
In its original form it evaluated thousands of Australians with disability, determining their pay based on their competency and productivity.
Wages can be as low as 33 cents per hour.
The court in 2012 found two intellectually disabled employees were discriminated against by using the tool and the government moved to replace it.

As snowstorms and record low temperatures sweep the United States this week, it is more important than ever to take the proper winter precautions. According to CNN, the National Weather Service reported that about 50% of the country had snow on the ground on November 18. Because this is still relatively early and still not officially the winter season U.S. citizens need to be cognizant of the consequences of the upcoming winter.
If this weeks low temperatures and significant snow accumulations are any indication of the winter ahead, homeowners must take the initiative to become educated about the valuable water heating options available. While heating is certainly a costly expense, it is a necessity. A November 13th article published by Eco Seed, an environmental organization, stated, Heating water accounts for around 18% of the average US household's energy use. After climate control, pumping hot water into a home to clean clothes, dishes and ourselves is the largest energy expense of running a modern house, costing a homeowner about $600 annually, and the planet much more.
Pursuing an eco-friendly option for water heating is, perhaps, the most efficient way to save money during the wintertime. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that by utilizing a tankless water heater, also known as an on-demand unit, homeowners can save up to 30% on the cost of heating water when compared to a traditional storage water heater. The five different types of water heaters available include storage water heaters, tankless water heaters, heat pump water heaters, solar water heaters and tankless coil and indirect water heaters. After factoring in price and efficiency levels, storage and tankless water heaters are currently the top choices. However, tankless water heaters have proven to outpace storage water heaters in respects to efficiency, for many reasons.
Because tankless water heaters heat water on demand there is no standby energy loss, thus leading to major energy savings. In addition, tankless water heaters have a life expectancy of 20 years, compared to 8 to 10 for storage units. Tankless units also present less of a risk of flooding because they don't store large volumes of water. Meanwhile, these eco-friendly water heaters can be placed outside, fit on walls, slide into cupboards, and take up significantly less square footage than other models.
Establishing that an eco-friendly water heater will prove to be beneficial is fairly simple. However, finding a reliable and knowledgeable company to install and maintain your system is slightly more complicated. While eco-friendly appliances are a fairly recent trend, it is important to find an honest company that has perfected all facets of tankless water heaters, to ensure the highest quality and value. With many years of experience, 1st Choice Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning has the knowledge to provide homeowners with the insight necessary for an affordable and efficient water heating system.

Brave the cold months ahead with the most environmentally and economically sound option available. By replacing a basic water heater with a tankless water heater homeowners will not only save money, but also conserve energy, allowing for the best of both worlds. Public Meeting Arranged for Briefing on Coromandel Great Walks Project.
A public meeting has been arranged to provide an update on the Proposed Cathedral Coast Walk, which is part of our Coromandel Great Walks Project.
Everyone is invited to the meeting at the Hahei Community Hall onSaturday 29 November, from 10am until midday.
"This is a chance for us to share with everyone where we're at with the Walks project and to discuss parking issues around Hahei," says Garry Towler, Council's spokesperson on the Proposed Cathedral Coast Walk. "We need to talk about the impact that increasing visitor numbers is having on Hahei and how we can best manage it short and long term," says Mr Towler.
The Proposed Cathedral Coast Walkway is being developed in partnership with DOC and local iwi Ngati Hei. Stage 1A and 1B of the Cathedral Coast Walk is approximately 10km in length from the iconic "Blowhole," at Te Pupuha Recreation Reserve at Hahei through to the Purangi Estuary at Cooks Beach. It takes in DOC estate, Council reserve and QE2 Trust land. A private section of land at Lees Rd is also being negotiated, which will help to provide additional car parking for anyone wanting to walk the route.
"While the public meeting is primarily as an update on the Walk project and parking around Hahei, DOC are also coming along to give an update on its Integrated Plan for Cathedral Cove and Hahei," says Mr Towler.
WRC has also been invited along with Council staff and elected members from our Mercury Bay Area office.
One of the next steps in the Proposed Cathedral Coast Walk project will be finalising the names of a working group , made up of permanent Hahei residents, non-permanent residents, the Hahei Business Association and Coastal Walkways. This group will be the major forum through which the Hahei community and stakeholders can table views and issues and report back to the Project Governance Group, which is made up of our Council, DOC and local iwi Ngati Hei.

After two years of study, the city of Cupertino has updated city policy for dealing with protected trees.
On Nov. 18 the city council unanimously approved an update to its city tree ordinance that will affect how residents and applicants will need to work with city hall to remove certain protected trees.
Before the update, the ordinance required all removed specimen trees to be replaced with a tree based on the value and size of the removed trees. All specimen trees that are less than 12 inches in diameter are exempted from the process.
The resident or applicant has the option of paying an in-lieu fee only in cases where the physical planting of replacement trees was deemed to be infeasible by a professional arborist, according to the Nov. 18 city staff report.
The ordinance has been updated to allow the applicant and property owner the option of planting the replacement tree or paying an in-lieu fee at 1.5 times the cost of planting the replacement tree.
Tree-removal permits are needed for specimen trees between 13 inches and 24 inches in diameter in most zoning districts. In all zoning districts, where the planting of an on-site replacement tree is physically infeasible, the required in-lieu fee shall be equivalent to the cost of labor materials.
Protected specimen trees include: the California Buckeye, Big Leaf Maple, Deodar Cedar, Blue Atlas Cedar, Western Sycamore, and Bay Laurel.
There will be a second reading of the ordinance at the next city council meeting, likely on Dec. 2. During the second reading, the council and staff will give additional consideration for the listing of the Bay Laurel on the specimen tree list. The council could consider keeping the tree on the list, removing it, replacing it with the London Plane tree, or replacing it with another species entirely, according to the director of community development's report to the planning commission.
The Bay Laurel could be eliminated from the list because it is known to carry Anthracnose Fungus, a disease that can kill nearby oak trees. The city arborist is recommending that the that London Plane be added to the specimen list, because it is similar to Western Sycamore in physical form and water usage properties, according to city staff.
Since 2012, the city and the five-member council have been working routinely on tinkering with how the city and residents interact with public and protected trees. In March 2013, the council amended the city's tree ordinance to clarify references to public street trees and to modify penalties from a misdemeanor to infraction for cutting a public tree.
