Here are some signs that your HVAC equipment needs repair or maintenance.

One of the most obvious signs that your AC needs repair is when it fails to provide enough cooling or when you notice changing temperatures throughout your home. If you find yourself constantly adjusting the thermostat with no changes, it's time to call for professional help.

Another red flag that your AC requires repair is the presence of unusual sounds or odors coming from the unit. Banging, grinding, or squealing noises can indicate problems with the fan motor, belts, or bearings. Similarly, foul smells may suggest mold or electrical issues within the system.

If you observe limited airflow or poor ventilation from your AC vents, this may suggest a blocked air filter, a malfunctioning blower motor, or a clogged ductwork. Weak airflow affects the cooling efficiency of your system and the indoor air quality.

Regularly checking and replacing air filters can help prevent such issues, but consult an expert if the problem persists.

Water leaks or excessive moisture around your AC unit is a clear indication of a problem. This could be caused by a blocked condensate drain line, a leaking refrigerant, or a malfunctioning evaporator coil. If left untreated, water damage can lead to mold growth and structural issues. It's crucial to address this issue promptly to avoid further complications.

If you've noticed a big spike in your electric bills without any changes in your usage habits, this may be a sign that your AC system is not running efficiently or that you need window replacement Philadelphia. Having your AC equipment inspected by a professional can help identify the underlying cause and restore energy efficiency.

    >>Find AC repair professionals at Thumbtack

While some AC issues require professional intervention, there are several simple troubleshooting steps you can take before calling for help.

It is crucial to regularly replace or clean air filters in your HVAC system. This will help maintain optimal airflow and prevent dust and debris from clogging the system. Dirty filters can overwork the AC unit, leading to reduced efficiency and increased energy consumption. Refer to your AC's user manual to locate and clean or replace the filters accordingly.

The outdoor unit of your AC system is susceptible to debris like leaves, twigs, and dirt. This can block airflow and cause overheating. Periodically check and clear any debris surrounding the unit to ensure proper ventilation and prevent potential damage.

Sometimes, the issue may not lie with the AC unit itself but with the thermostat. Ensure that the thermostat is set to the desired temperature and mode. If it's a programmable thermostat, double-check the settings and reset if necessary. A simple reset can often resolve minor issues and restore proper functionality.

Over time, condenser coils can accumulate dirt and debris, hindering heat transfer and reducing cooling efficiency. Inspect the condenser coils for any visible dirt or debris buildup. If necessary, gently clean the coils using a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.

Condensate drain lines carry away excess moisture produced by your AC system. Over time, these lines can get clogged with debris, mold, algae, or other items, leading to water leaks or system malfunctions. Regularly inspect and clean the condensate drain lines using a mixture of bleach and water or a specialized cleaner to prevent blockages.

Simply searching best AC repair near me online may not be enough. Here are some tips to help you find the best service provider for your needs.

One of the most effective ways to gauge the reliability and quality of an HVAC repair service is by reading online reviews and testimonials. Websites like Yelp and Google provide platforms for customers to share their experiences. Pay attention to overall ratings, specific feedback, and any recurring positive or negative comments.

Seeking recommendations from trusted friends or family members who have recently used HVAC repair services can provide valuable insights. They can share their firsthand experiences, including the quality of service, pricing, and professionalism of the technicians.

Before hiring an HVAC repair service, ensure that the team members are properly licensed, insured, and certified. These credentials indicate that the technicians have undergone the necessary training and possess the required expertise to handle AC repairs safely and efficiently.

Different repair services may offer varying service packages and guarantees. Ask about the range of services the contractors provide, such as emergency repairs, maintenance plans, or system installations. Additionally, ask about any warranties or guarantees they offer to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind.

To ensure you receive fair pricing and quality service, it's advisable to ask for multiple quotes from different AC repair services. This allows you to compare prices, service offerings, and warranties.

    >>Find AC repair professionals at Thumbtack

Here are some common air conditioner problems and their respective solutions:

Low refrigerant levels can result in insufficient cooling and reduced efficiency. This may be caused by leaks or inadequate initial charging. A professional AC technician can identify the source of the leak, repair it, and recharge the refrigerant to restore optimal cooling performance.

Frozen evaporator coils can be a result of restricted airflow, insufficient insulation, or a dirty air filter. Check the air filter, clean or replace it if necessary, and ensure that all vents are open and unobstructed. Additionally, inspect the insulation around the evaporator coils and verify that it is intact and properly sealed.

Capacitors and compressors are vital components of an AC system. Faulty capacitors can cause the unit to fail to start or run erratically, while a malfunctioning compressor can result in inadequate cooling. These issues require professional repair or replacement by an experienced HVAC technician.

Leaking ducts can lead to wasted energy, reduced cooling efficiency, and compromised indoor air quality. Professional HVAC technicians can identify and seal any leaks in the ductwork. They can ensure that conditioned air reaches its intended destination, maximizing efficiency, and reducing energy waste.

Inaccurate thermostat readings or malfunctions can lead to temperature inconsistencies and inefficient cooling. If you notice significant temperature variations or suspect thermostat issues, consider calibrating or replacing the thermostat. A professional technician can help diagnose and address any thermostat-related problems.

    >>Find AC repair professionals at Thumbtack

The price of HVAC repair services can vary depending on several factors. These include the nature of the problem, the complexity of the repair, and the service provider's pricing structure. On average, homeowners can expect to pay between $150 and $500 for AC repair services.

Do you still have questions about AC repair? Lets take a deeper look at the most common questions and their answers.

Air conditioners can leak water due to various reasons, such as a clogged condensate drain line, a dirty air filter, low refrigerant levels, or a malfunctioning condensate pump. It is best to contact a professional AC repair service to diagnose and fix the issue.

A hot water baseboard heating system works by circulating hot water through pipes that are installed along the baseboards of a room. The hot water heats the air through convection, and the warm air rises, creating a comfortable heating effect. This system is controlled by a thermostat and can be powered by various energy sources, such as gas, oil, or electricity.

Heating systems should be replaced when they are old, inefficient, or require frequent repairs. The average lifespan of a heating system is around 15 to 20 years. If your heating system is nearing the end of its lifespan or if you are experiencing consistent issues, it may be time to consider a replacement.

HVAC systems should be serviced at least once a year, ideally before the start of the heating season. Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and safety. It involves tasks such as cleaning or replacing filters, checking for leaks, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting the overall system.

The most common type of heating system is a forced-air system, which uses a furnace to heat air and distribute it throughout the house via ductwork and vents. This type of system is popular due to its versatility, efficiency, and ability to provide both heating and cooling with the addition of an air conditioner.

You should get the air ducts cleaned approximately between three and five years, based on various factors like air quality, pets, and allergies. Regular cleaning helps remove dust, debris, and allergens from the ducts, improving indoor air quality and system efficiency. If you notice dust buildup or respiratory issues, you may need more frequent cleaning.

On average, the cost can range from $300 to $700. It is advisable to get a professional inspection and quote for an accurate estimate.

On average, the cleaning process can take anywhere from two to six hours. However, it is best to consult with a professional duct cleaning service for a more accurate time estimate.

The expenses can range from $100 to $200 for having someone clean your dryer vent. Regular cleaning of the dryer vent is important to prevent fire hazards and ensure the efficient operation of the dryer.

Some of the most efficient options include geothermal heat pumps, solar heating systems, and high-efficiency gas furnaces. Consulting with a professional AC technician can help determine the most suitable and efficient heating system for your specific needs.

Maintaining a properly functioning AC system is essential for a comfortable and cool home. By recognizing the signs that your HVAC equipment needs repair and employing DIY repair tips, you can effectively address common issues.

When professional assistance is required, reach out to professional AC repair services through the best online platforms like Thumbtack. The top matching services give you the opportunity to compare quotes and consider the expertise and reputation of HVAC service contractors.

What to do if you lose heat during cold winter temps in Chicago area – NBC Chicago

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

If you lose heat during cold winter weather, what can you do?

Furnaces and heating systems are having a tough time keeping up in subzero temperatures. HVAC repair companies are also trying to keep up with demand.

As the Chicago area battles brutally cold temperatures, losing heat can be a dangerous situation to be in, particularly as calls for furnace and heating repairs soar.

This is our Super Bowl for us in HVAC. This is when were at our busiest, said Pedro Sanchez, owner of Sanchez HVAC Services. Im going into houses that are sometimes as low as 30 degrees.

So what can you do and what should you do if that happens?

For those in Chicago, it's important to know the legal guidelines. A heat ordinance is in effect from September through April each year, applying to both homes and workspaces.

The heat ordinance "requires that within houses, apartments, hotel rooms, and indoor workspaces, heat be provided in all habitable spaces, toilet rooms, and bathrooms."

The requirements change by building type, however.

Here's a breakdown from the city:

    Homes (Residential Buildings)

Forresidential buildings with central (shared) heating equipment and no central cooling (air conditioning), the indoor temperature is required to be at least 68 degress from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and at least 66 degrees from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. for the entire heating season.

Forresidential buildings with central heating and cooling provided by a single system(sometimes called two-pipe buildings), the indoor temperature is required to be at least 68 degrees from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and at least 66 degrees from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. for most of the heat season. There are some special rules, however, for the start and end of the winter heating period.

Forresidential buildings with individual heating equipment in each unit, theequipment "must be capable of maintaining an indoor temperature of 68 degrees.

If you are a renter, the ordinance requires that during landlords supply heat to apartments whereoccupants do not have individual control of the heat. It also requires that landlords keep individual heating equipment within houses or individual apartmentsin good operating condition.

Landlords and building owners face fines of$500to $1,000 per day, per violation, if they do not supply adequate heat or functioning heating equipment. The reason for lack of heat does not matterbuilding owners must follow the law, and heat must be provided.

    Workspaces

The ordinance also requires that during designated cold weather months, building owners provide heat to indoor workspaces. There are exceptions for workspaceswhere cold temperatures are necessary for the type of work being performed, such as a refrigerated warehouse.

    Reporting Violations

"If you are a resident or worker in Chicago and your landlord or employer is not providing adequate heat or no heat at all, you mayfile a complaint using311. The Department of Buildings will inspect and take action against landlords and employers who are found to be breaking the law," the city said.

To report an immediate danger to yourself or others, always call 911, the city notes.

Read the full ordinance rules here.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges people to stay safe while using other methods to heat their homes, particularly those using a wood stove, fireplace or space heater.

The CDC offers these tips for safety guidelines:

Sanchez said its not always a repair thats needed when customers experience heating troubles.

Make sure the vents are open. Sometimes people will close vents because they want to force air to go in another area and now my furnace is overheating because it cant breathe, Sanchez said.

He also recommends changing your air filter every 30 days especially when the furnace is working harder during the coldest months.

Check your air filter to make sure its nice and clean. When an air filter is dirty it is going to cause our furnace to basically run at a very high temperature and overheat, he said.

A smart thermostat can alert you to problems if youre out of town and its hardwired so you dont need to change batteries. You should also keep your thermostat at the same temperature when its this cold, according to Sanchez.

Its easier to go up one degree and then when it gets colder outside, not only are you trying to go up one degree, youre fighting the temperature dropping outside so it puts much more strain on the system, said Sanchez.

Experts say the best thing to do is to thaw frozen lines. Methods might include:

In many cases, however, calling an expert for help is the best solution.

‘The Bear’: Ebon Moss-Bachrach On Whether Carmy & Richie Mend Fences In Season 3 Emmys Red Carpet – Yahoo New Zealand News

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

When The Bear comes back for season 3 and Jeremy Allen Whites Carmy gets out of that fridge, hes got a big apology tour on his hands. Not only did he screw his prospective romance with Clarie, but hes on the outs with best friend, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

For at the end of season 2, Richie and Carmy came to blows. Richie was ticked off on how Carmy treats Claire. Overall, hes a guy who cares for everyone around him.

    More from Deadline

Rosy and Natalie caught up with Moss-Bachrach on the Primetime Emmys carpet tonight, to ask him whether Richie and Carmy are ever going to mend fences.

The Comedy Series Supporting Actor nominee answered, They seem very far apart from the last thing, I saw. I do think the ball is in Carmys court. I think Richie is a very loyal friend who is a very resilient soul. Carmy seems more fragile and neurotic.

Carmy also came away from season 2 in dire straits with Claire, who overheard him rambling in the locked fridge over how their relationship was a distraction for to his culinary calling.

We got Jeremy Allen White at the Golden Globes last Sunday to address that one.

    Story continues

Said 2x Golden Globe winner on how he wanted to see Carmy and Claires fate go down: As Jeremy, a reader of scripts and watcher of show, I think she deserve an apology at the very least. So, I hope theres some version of that when I read scripts again.

FXs The Bear returns to production this winter. Its already won four 2023 Emmys including Comedy Series Casting, Sound Mixing Comedy/ Drama Half Hour, Sound Editing Comedy/Drama Half Hour and Picture Editing Single Camera Comedy. India Plans to Fence Off Myanmar Frontier – The Irrawaddy

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

NEW DELHIIndia plans to erect a fence along its vast and porous frontier with Myanmar and will scrap a free movement border zone agreement, Indian media reported Sunday.

The announcement by Home Minister Amit Shah comes after hundreds of troops from Myanmar who were fleeing insurgent attacks crossed into India.

The government had decided to fence the entire open India-Myanmar border, Shah said Saturday during a visit to the northeastern state of Assam.

The frontier stretches for more than 1,200 km, ranging from remote jungle to soaring snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Shah, who gave no details of a timeframe or how the fence would be built, said the government would also end a free movement agreement.

The deal allows those living in border zones to venture a short distance into each others territory without a visa.

Many in the border zones share close cultural and religious ties.

We are going to end this facility, Shah said, according to a video posted by the Times of India.

India has already fenced more than 2,000 km of its border with Pakistan, and at least 3,100 km with Bangladesh, according to government statistics from 2021.

Parts of Myanmar near the Indian border have seen frequent clashes since Arakan Army (AA) fighters attacked security forces in November, ending a ceasefire that had largely held since a 2021 military coup.

In October, an alliance including AA insurgents and other ethnic minority fighters launched a joint offensive across northern Myanmar, seizing vital trade hubs on the Chinese border.

Earlier this month, the alliance announced a China-mediated ceasefire, but it does not apply to areas near the Indian border, where fighting continues.

7 Best Tile Grout Cleaners of 2024, Tested by Experts – Good Housekeeping

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

Grout material and color: Read the label before buying any grout cleaner to be sure it is safe to use on the surfaces you'll be cleaning. Some are suited only for white, not colored, grout, and others can damage adjoining tiles made of natural stone, like marble or granite.

Cleanser form: Sprays and foams are easy to apply but can run or drip off vertical surfaces before the job is done, meaning you may have to reapply. And some may produce fumes that can be irritating, especially when used in small spaces. Thick gels stay in place longer, but they can take more effort to rinse away.

Scope of the job: Bleach is a great whitener and germ-killer, so if your grout is very badly stained with mold and mildew, a strong bleach-containing cleaner will be your best bet and will likely require the least amount of scrubbing. If you'll be cleaning dirty or discolored floor tile grout or you're fastidious about drying the shower daily and have only occasional spots, a milder formula should suffice.

How much does it cost to add a sunroom to your home? | – Homes & Gardens

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

A room that lets you enjoy great views of the outdoors while youre still cozy inside is a strong temptation, but how much does it cost to add a sunroom to your home?

From a conservatory to a four-season design, there are a range of sunroom ideas that can provide a light-filled space that connects your home and yard. But, as with any home addition, drawing up a budget beforehand is vital to get the results you want.

Whichever type of space youre considering, these are the costs involved in adding a sunroom to your home.

Adding a sunroom might be a project in its own right or part of a more extensivehome renovation. Either way, one of these rooms will increase natural light with its generous glazing as well as provide a beautiful outlook allowing you to make the most of the landscape from the comfort of the interior.

Although they all provide a transitional space between the inside and out, sunrooms differ from conservatories and solariums because they have a traditional roof rather than a glass version.

As for what you might pay? On average, it costs $47,000 to add a sunroom to your home, says Mallory Micetich, home expert at Angi. However, it can cost anywhere between $5,000 and $140,000, depending on the size and type of sunroom you choose.

Below are the factors that will affect how much it will cost to construct a sunroom for your home:

    Social Links Navigation

Mallory Micetich is a home care expert, with particular expertise in small home living and consumer protection. Currently renting in Austin, TX, she has been a homeowner, investor, and landlord over the last decade. She is committed to minimizing her environmental footprint and to small home living, having lived in only properties of 1,000 square feet or less.

(Image credit: Caroline Allison / Rachel Halvorson)

There is a range of different rooms that fall under the category of 'sunroom,' and which you select will inevitably impact your final costs. This is Mallorys verdict on what the bill for each might be:

Four-season sunrooms are generally the most expensive type of sunroom, costing between $25,000 and $80,000. The added expense goes toward insulating the room, letting you enjoy your sunroom year-round.

Three-season sunrooms are slightly less insulated and more affordable than four-season sunrooms. Expect to pay between $10,000 and $40,000 for a three-season sunroom.

Glass solariums are made almost entirely out of glass, including the walls and roof. On average, it costs between $30,000 and $75,000 to build a glass solarium.

The cost of building a conservatory (also known as a garden room) varies more than the other types of sunrooms. You can pay anywhere from $5,000 to $80,000 for a conservatory.

Just as with any home addition, the square footage of what you choose to construct will influence the final bill for the project.

The size of your sunroom is one of the biggest factors when determining your projects overall cost, explains Mallory. You can expect to pay between $150 and $300 per square foot to build your sunroom. Small sunrooms with 5 x 10 foot dimensions can start as low as $7,500, while large sunrooms with 20 x 20 foot dimensions can cost $120,000 or more to build.

Whether or not you have the foundations for a sunroom counts, according to Mallory.

If you dont already have a foundation for your sunroom, you'll need to budget extra to cover the costs of site prep and pouring the foundation, she says. Site preparation usually costs between $500 and $5,600, while pouring foundation costs between $1,000 and $6,000.

For a sunroom to be enjoyable to spend time in, it should have insulation just as the rest of a home should as part of the eco-home improvements you make.

You will need to add insulation to keep your sunroom at a comfortable temperature, says Mallory. Expect to pay between $500 and $1,500 to add insulation to your sunroom.

Opting between a sunroom, conservatory, and solarium affects what the roof is made from and what you can expect to pay for the room.

The material and style of your roof will influence the cost of your sunroom, explains Mallory. Most people end up paying between $3,600 and $8,500 to install a sunroom roof.

A sunroom has plenty of windows and there are the doors to consider as well, all of which factor into the cost.

Windows can be one of the most expensive components of a sunroom, costing between $3,500 and $15,000 to install, says Mallory. If you want to install patio doors, add an extra $1,300 to $11,000 to your budget.

Bear in mind that window treatments, including window blinds and shutters, will also be required to regulate light, protect furniture from the sun, and provide privacy as necessary.

Dont forget the fact that the room needs lighting and electrical outlets. Electricity is necessary to make your sunroom practical and comfortable, says Mallory.

Expect to pay $130 to $270 per outlet, $150 to $350 per ceiling fan, and $150 to $800 per light fixture.

Its a good idea to do some research to assess how much to budget for HVAC in your particular circumstances.

The cost of adding an HVAC system to your sunroom can vary significantly, explains Mallory. I recommend reaching out to a professional to see if you need to install a small, new system or if you can expand your current system. Factor in around $2,300 to $20,500 to install an HVAC system in your sunroom.

Factor in the finishes that make a sunroom a space as chic as the rest of your home and one with decor that complements its overall style, too.

Interior finishes like paint and flooring can cost anywhere from $200 to $9,000, says Mallory. This can also be a great place to cut costs by choosing affordable materials or DIYing simple projects like painting a room.

In terms of renovation projects that will add value to your home, adding a sunroom doesnt offer the best return on investment. On average, sunrooms have a 49% ROI, says Mallory Micetich, home expert at Angi. Installing a sunroom may be less valuable than high-ROI projects like kitchen and bathroom remodels, but it can still recoup half of your investment when it comes time to sell.

Of course, a sunroom can allow you to enjoy your home more in the years that you occupy it, making it well worthwhile. And when you do list your home, a sunroom with its excellent natural light and views could boost its curb appeal.

A sunroom adds a bright, airy space in which to relax but it's possible to achieve a similar result with other home addition ideas. You could opt to expand a kitchen or increase the square footage of your existing living space. Whatever you decide, its vital to plan a home addition carefully, as it does cause disruption, and be ready for home addition costs which, like those for a sunroom, will depend on its size and type.

When it comes to your home, youre likely to find mold in or around in damp areas, and anywhere else that moisture may accumulate.Which is why it's essential to know how to clean mold in the shower, bath, sinks, laundry room, basement, kitchen, dishwashers and from windows, to prevent this issue becoming more serious.

Even if you know how to clean a bathroom and cleaning a kitchen is top of your daily to-do list, mold may still be a challenge you need to deal with. That's because mold is often a symptom of a damp problem which is also one of the causes of cracks in walls and is cited as one of the most undesirable home decor features that put home buyers off.

'Vinegar is a versatile, eco-friendly, and effective solution for preventing and treating mold in the home,' says Michael Golubev, CEO of Mold Busters. 'Its natural properties make it a safer alternative to harsh chemicals, suitable for regular use in maintaining a mold-free environment.'

'Vinegar, especially white distilled vinegar or cleaning vinegar, serves as a natural and cost-effective solution for mold removal,' explains Michael Gottron, owner of Germicidal Maids.

This is because these kinds of vinegar contain roughly 5 to 8% acetic acid, which is known to have antifungal and antibacterial properties, according to the National Library of Medicine.

'Its acetic acid content creates an inhospitable environment for mold growth, disrupting its structure,' says Michael Gottron. 'This also inhibits its return, making it a safe and eco-friendly option for maintaining a mold-free environment.'

Killing mold with vinegar is a simple process with only a few key steps:

    1. First, mix equal parts vinegar and water and transfer the vinegar into a spray bottle, then spray a generous amount of the solution directly onto the moldy area.

    2. 'Let the vinegar sit for at least 1 hour, allowing the vinegar to penetrate and kill the mold,' advises Hashi Mohamed, president of Ivy Cleans.

    3. Afterward, scrub the area with a brush to remove any remaining mold residue. Then, rinse the surface with a clean damp cloth and let the area dry completely to prevent further mold growth. Immediately discard the cloth and brush you used to clean the area.

If the mold and smell linger after this process, you may want to consider using cinnamon to prevent mold alongside your vinegar solution or bringing in the professionals.

Michael Golubev explains the benefits of using vinegar to banish mold:

Preventive use: Vinegar can be used as a preventive measure in areas prone to mold growth. Regularly spraying a vinegar solution in damp areas like bathroom ceilings and basements can help inhibit mold growth.

Air quality improvement: Regular use of vinegar in cleaning can improve indoor air quality by reducing mold spores. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with allergies or respiratory issues.

It's eco-friendly and safe: Vinegar is a safe, non-toxic alternative to chemical mold removers, making it an excellent choice for households with pets and children.

Combining with other natural ingredients: For enhanced mold-fighting power, vinegar can be combined with other natural ingredients like tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide. However, always test on a small area first to ensure no damage to surfaces.

Avoid using it on certain surfaces: Vinegar is safe to use on most surfaces, but there are a few you may want to avoid. Soft surfaces like carpets, rugs, and window coverings arent effectively cleaned with vinegar. Similarly, stone surfaces and wood flooring can be negatively affected by vinegar as it can dull stones and break down the finish on the wood.

Do not mix with bleach: Bleach and vinegar are two cleaning products you should never mix, as they can produce harmful chlorine gas when combined.

Some mold breakouts do require professional help. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) states that if the moldy area is larger than 10 square feet, you should leave the cleaning to the experts. Additionally, the EPA suggests making sure the professionals you hire are well-versed in dealing with mold eradication and water damage to make sure the problem is completely taken care of.

'Remember that while vinegar can be effective for small, surface-level mold problems, it may not be suitable for more extensive mold infestations or mold infiltrating porous materials like drywall or insulation,' explains Hashi Mohamed, president at Ivy Cleans. 'In such cases, seeking professional mold remediation services is advisable to ensure thorough removal and prevent potential health risks.'

If the affected area is smaller than 10 square feet, it is highly likely youll be able to deal with the issue on your own.

While it is possible to use bleach to kill mold, experts agree that vinegar is a much better option. Unlike bleach, vinegar can effectively kill the mold at the root, making it less likely to return. Vinegar is also less toxic than bleach, making it a better choice for household use.

It should be noted that vinegar cannot kill every type of mold, according to a study from 2015. It is highly effective at getting rid of Penicillium chrysogenum, which is most commonly found in damp areas, but not Aspergillus fumigatus, which is typically found in plant matter and soil. While the former is most commonly found in homes, contact an expert if you have any doubts about the specific type of mold youre dealing with.

Cost To Install Fiber Cement Siding: Per Square Foot, By Type And More Forbes Home – Forbes

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

The main cost factors to consider when budgeting for a fiber cement siding project are the type of siding you choose and the square footage youll need to cover.

Fiber cement siding typically costs between $5 and $15 per square foot to install, which includes materials and labor. But costs can be higher depending on the type of siding you choose and whether there are any hard-to-reach areas or obstacles that the contractor will need to spend extra time navigating.

There are three main types of fiber cement siding. The type you choose will affect your final costs.

    Planks

Fiber cement planks are long, narrow strips that look similar to traditional wooden planks, but theyre more durable and weather-resistant. You can install them in vertical or horizontal configurations depending on the look youre going for. These planks usually cost between $4 and $6 per square foot, not including labor.

    Shingles

Fiber cement shingles are designed to look like wooden shingles. They feature relatively small individual pieces that are often used to cover smaller areas or create decorative patterns. Fiber cement shingles cost between $2 and $6 per square foot not including labor.

    Panels

Fiber cement panels are large flat sheets that give homes a sleek, minimalist look thanks to their smooth, uniform appearance. You can expect to pay between $3 and $15 per square foot for these panels not including labor.

In some cases, your location can affect the cost to install fiber cement siding. Generally, it costs more to install siding in areas with higher costs of living, such as large cities. The availability of materials in your area can also affect your costs.

Texas wide receiver room bolstered with addition of Oregon State’s Silas Bolden – HornSports

    - January 22, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

Steve Sarksian believes in building his program through high school recruiting, but the third year coach of the Longhorns is not afraid to utilize the transfer portal to fill voids left by the departure of key players. This holds particularly true at the wide receiver position, as Sarkisian has already added Houstons Matthew Golden and Alabamas Isaiah Bond to the 2024 roster. On Tuesday evening, the talent-rich wide receiver room grew even more, this time with the addition of Oregon States Silas Bolden.

Bolden entered the transfer portal on January 1st and visited Austin last weekend before announcing his commitment. He led the Beavers in receiving this season with 746 yards on 54 receptions with five touchdowns. Bolden, who is 5-8 and weighs 160 lbs. committed to the Longhorns over a host of other programs including USC, Washington, Kansas State and Utah among others. He possesses elite speed which will benefit Jeff Banks special teams unit in the return game.
