A Shreveport man is recovering after a group of employees temporarily ditched their day jobs to pull the man from his burning home.

The four employees noticed flames coming from a home on Lincoln Street around 8:00 Wednesday morning.

First there was smoke, then an explosion of flames came bursting through this home, "saw smoke just billowing black smoke coming out of the front door, said Doug Pierrelee.

The employees right next door at Sentinel Group were loading up their trucks for the work day when their duty switched from securing to saving a life.

"Me and Jason jumped in the vehicle, and took off over there, Galli came up running behind us and jumped over the fence, and he was calling 911 at the same time we were over there," said Pierrelee.

According to Pierrelee the men didn't wait on a fire rescue crew to arrive, they got right to work.

I didn't even see a body and then Jason said there is a body right there in the doorway, then immediately we pulled him on his stomach into the grass says Pierrelee.

Instead of resting, the men approached the flame bound home once more.

"Started yelling for people and we crawled into the house a little bit, it was just saw black and you could hardly breathe, crawled back out and went around the home, asking is anybody home is anybody home, recalls Pierrelee.

Want to turn your iPhone into a home security camera? Theres an app for that.

Cloud-based video monitoring service Manything has relaunched a somewhat creepy app that lets Apple users turn their unused iPhones, iPods and iPads into remote controlled live stream cameras, complete with motion alerts.Users can also remotely switch off the power and control audio and the devices flashlight tool.

Cameras can be controlled by the app or from Manythings website.

Manything says its product is a cheaper alternative to pricey security hardware that could put $14 billion worth of old, unused iPhones to use. The app is currently free, though the company plans on launching a monthly subscription plan next year.

Manything users record more than 2-1/2 years of video per day, and are growing at a rate of 45% per month, the UK-based company said.

Residents have been warned to think about how they protect their valuable jewellery after the latest in a spate of Asian gold thefts at a property in New Haw.

Thieves targeted a home in Pinewood Avenue between 8am and 1.45pm last Thursday (November 6).

After what detectives described as a thorough search of the house, they stole gold jewellery, cash and an iPad.

Police are now looking for a man of Asian appearance who was seen in the area, wearing a red baseball cap, on Thursday.

Detective Constable Nicola Bartholomew said: This offence took place during the day and we feel sure someone must have seen or heard something.

If you noticed anything unusual, please do give us a call so we can progress our investigation.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been approached or has information relating to Asian gold jewellery.

Asian gold burglaries have increased in recent years, particularly with the high price of gold.

Sometimes called Indian gold, Asian gold is a broad term that covers jewellery bought and held by south Asian families, often passed down through generations.

In September, a family in Ashford lost more than 40,000 of jewellery in a burglary.
