Cocke Finkelstein Inc (CFI) adds Remington at Ponte Vedra Lakes To Its Growing Portfolio

    - October 31, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 30, 2014

Cocke Finkelstein Inc. (CFI), a full-service multifamily investment firm, has acquired Remington at Ponte Vedra Lakes, a 344-unit, garden-style apartment community in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, for $35.35 million.

CFLane, the apartment management subsidiary of CFI, will manage the community, which was 96 percent leased when the transaction closed last Friday.

Remington at Ponte Vedra Lakes was built in 1986 and sits on more than 28 lake-dappled acres; it offers one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Amenities include varied recreational facilities including a racquetball court, full fitness center, kids playground and two year-round outdoor swimming pools; a car-care center; dog parks and numerous bridges, gazebos and lakeside vistas designed for the exclusive enjoyment of Remingtons residents. The community is located within a three-minute drive of public beach access and is nearby such amenities as TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour's prestigious The Players Championship.

A multimillion-dollar renovation planned for the community will commence immediately and will include major enhancements and modernization to both exterior and interiors, as well and new and expanded amenities throughout the site.

Remington is the 40th Florida community in the growing management portfolio of CFLane, making the Sunshine State the third-largest, in terms of both number of communities and units managed.

Remington at Ponte Vedra Beach is an outstanding addition to our portfolio, and reinforces our commitment to seeking opportunities to both own and manage assets in the state of Florida, said Byron Cocke, CEO of CFI and CFLane. This is a rare opportunity when you consider the amazing location to both the beach and Jacksonvilles bustling corporate centers, as well as the limited amount of garden-style rentals in Ponte Vedra Beach.

More information about the new addition to the CFI and CFLane portfolio can be found at: http://www.cflane.com/id/1714/remington-at-ponte-vedra-lakes-ponte-vedra-beach-fl-32082

Aedes mosquito-breeding spots found inside Rishi Kapoor's home

    - October 31, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A team of officers from BMC's pesticide department found aedes mosquito breeding spots in veteran actor Rishi Kapoor's Pali Hill residence in Bandra. The 62-year-old Bollywood actor is admitted in Lilavati Hospital with dengue, said doctors.

According to Lilavati Hospital sources, the actor was admitted on Tuesday.

Rajan Naringrekar, head of pesticide department in BMC, said, "We found aedes mosquito breeding spot in the feng shui plant kept in the garden. Feng shui plants are notorious spots for aedes mosquitoes to breed. We have been requesting people to ensure that the do's and don'ts are followed strictly because 85% of the breeding spots are found indoors."

With the rise in dengue cases in the city, the BMC today kick started a special drive for dengue awareness where they are using the public announcement tool to reach out to more people.

"We are requesting people not to store water or beware of feng shui, money plants, fountains in their residential premises. In our survey, we found that more than 80% of the aedes mosquito breeding sites were found in the homes of middle, upper-middle and higher class societies," said Naringrekar. Bandra is also one of the many areas in Mumbai that is seeing high incidence of dengue cases.

Meanwhile, doctors treating Kapoor said that the actor has co-infection and is found positive for malaria too. "He is stable but needs to be monitored for both the disease," said the doctor.

dna had reported how city doctors are seeing a dangerous trend in vector-borne diseases with people coming with both dengue and malaria infection. Though the number of such cases are less, doctors say that it has now become important to check for both the diseases if there is fever to avoid complications and death. Talking about severity in dengue, doctors said that it is affecting major organs this time and therefore people shouldn't neglect fever.

Dr Khusrav Bajan, intensivist at PD Hinduja Hospital, said, "There is one per cent chances for a dengue patient to get malaria and vice-versa. This year, surprisingly, we are seeing people infected with both these diseases. The numbers are few but this is something we have not seen earlier."

While dengue is caused and transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with any one of the four dengue viruses, malaria is caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium that is spread by the female Anopheles mosquito.

"I have already seen 4-5 cases with the co-infection. Dengue is supportive treatment and for malaria, we give anti-malarial treatment. These patients are coming with much lower white blood cell count and platelet counts and longer fever durations," said Dr Bajan.

Carona mends fences with PAC donations to Dan Patrick

    - October 31, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

AUSTIN Dallas state Sen. John Carona, who swapped bitter personal insults with Republican colleague Dan Patrick just two years ago, is patching things up.

Carona and employees of Associa, his Dallas-based homeowners association management company, have strongly backed Patricks bid to become lieutenant governor.

On Tuesday, Associas political action committee gave Patrick $5,000 only the latest in a succession of peace gestures in the last 14 months totaling nearly $75,000.

Carona, the companys founder and chairman, was beaten by a tea party-backed challenger, Don Huffines, in March and is on his way out of the Senate after 18 years.

Like another GOP senator who publicly feuded with Patrick, former chief Senate budget writer Tommy Williams of The Woodlands, Carona has reasons to make nice with someone expected to become the Senates presiding officer.

Williams, now the Texas A&M University Systems top lobbyist, has papered over his rupture with Patrick last year. Patrick voted against final passage of the state budget that Williams helped craft. Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, Patricks Democratic opponent, has said that Patrick was resisting a boost to school funding, after the deep education cuts of 2011. Williams has said that Van de Putte mischaracterized the vote.

Similarly, Carona, chief executive of the largest company in the U.S. that manages homeowners associations, may need help fine-tuning future bills aimed at alleged HOA abuses.

On Thursday, though, Carona ignored a query over whether hes protecting Associa.

Senator Patrick is a conservative who believes in smaller government and fewer regulations, he said in an email. We are always pleased to support pro-business candidates across the country.

In May 2012, though, Carona branded Patrick a snake oil salesman and a narcissist that would say anything to draw attention to himself.

HOMETIME HOW TO, Drywall – Tools

    - October 31, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

In addition to your basic utility knife, you'll need some special tools for cutting drywall sheets.

For making square cuts, use a drywall T-square. Set your sheets of drywall upright with the smooth side out. Set the T-square on the top edge and line it up with your measurement. Run a utility knife along the side of the "T" to score your cut. Snap the sheet back to break the sheet along the cut. Then cut the paper back with a utility knife.

For making cuts around obstacles you can use a drywall saw. Just use a back-and-forth motion like you would for any hand saw.

Cutting your sheets slightly too big is better than too small. You can always shave the ends off with a rasp.

For cutting around electrical boxes use a keyhole saw. Just punch the tip through the drywall and cut along each side. You can also use a power jig saw for these cuts.

For round cuts, like around light fixture boxes, use a circle cutter. Find the center of your circle and punch in the center marker. Adjust the arm to the radius of your circle and use it to score the perimeter of the circle. Do the same on the other side of the sheet. Tap out the cut out with a hammer. You can also use a compass to draw the circles, and a keyhole saw to cut them.

There's also a power tool professionals use that's designed specifically for cutting out holes for electrical boxes and fixtures. It's like a drywall router, and they use it to cut the holes after the sheets of drywall are up. This is a lot faster then cutting them all by hand.

If you do end up renting one of these power routers be careful so you don't strip the electrical wiring inside.
