This is the moment workers ran from an engulfing dust cloud moments after demolishing a Birmingham residential tower block.

The footage was caught by Mail reader Sharon Boland as Cornwall Tower in Heaton Street, Hockley, was brought crashing down on Sunday.

The video shows the eight-storey block of flats being demolished and four workers running as a dust cloud starts billowing towards them.

Billy Young, contracts manager for DSM Demolition Group, which carried out the controlled explosion, said: We were caught out a little bit by the high wind which was blowing down Heaton Street and four of us including myself ran away as it descended on us.

However, there was never any risk to the safety of the public.

"People who were watching were at a safe distance and were advised to turn their backs when the dust cloud reached them. It was a very successful controlled demolition.

Cornwall Tower is one of eight tower blocks earmarked for demolition as part of a Birmingham City Council 26 million housing demolition programme.

A council spokeswoman said: The purpose of the demolition is to improve the efficiency of council housing by removing properties with high future investment costs that will achieve savings.

"It will also improve the effectiveness of Council housing stock by creating opportunities for the development of new, affordable, high quality homes that better meets the current and future needs of the citizens of Birmingham and contribute to the creation of sustainable communities.

We have had many requests for installation instructions and/or owner's manuals for certain model ceiling fans. However, in most cases, assembling and installing a fan is very standard. Most fans have very similar parts and therefore are put together in much the same way.

It should be noted that it is recommended the outlet box/and or support be rated for a weight greater than the actual weight of the fan. You also have to factor in the centrifugal force of the rotating blades, and allow for any vibrations, etc. A fan that weighs 25lbs or so is usually recommended to have a support rated for 30-40lbs or more. But in any case, in order to have a legal installation, the fan (and outlet box) should be attached to ceiling joist or rated fan brace. If the outlet box is loose or unsupported you will need to brace it further.

Anyone with a bit of mechanical and electrical aptitude should have no problem installing a fan. However if you are in a situation where there is not already an existing power supply and support, you might want to call a professional if you are not comfortable and knowledgeable working in this area.

1. Some pieces of the fan require assembly before hanging. Attach the blades to the blade brackets. In the case of a downrod fan, slip the canopy over the downrod and attach the downrod to the fan. In the case of a close mount (not hugger) fan, attach the canopy directly to the motor. In some cases you may want to attach the light fitter (should one apply) to the motor before assembly, in other cases it will be easier to attach once the fan is on the ceiling. Some fans also require the switch housing be plugged in and attached. In any case, at this point the fan should consist of 3 or 4 types of pieces: the motor assembly, the mounting bracket, the blades, and, if applicable, the light attachments.

2. Attach the mounting bracket to the fan brace and/or ceiling outlet box.

3. Hang the motor assembly from the mounting bracket. In some cases this will be via a small hook, in other cases the ball on the end of the downrod will fit directly in the bracket. Be sure the groove in the ball lines up with the tab in the bracket and/or canopy.

4. Connect the wires. Refer to the Ceiling Fan Wiring Guide for more information.

5. Attach the canopy to the mounting bracket. In the case of some fans this may be 2 thumbscrews on the bottom, others may have as many as four screws on the side. In close-mount fans and some downrod fans the canopy is load bearing, in other cases it is purely decorative. In downrod fans be sure the ball is (still) lined up with the tab in the bracket/canopy. If the canopy has a decorative ring to cover the screws, attach that.

5a. For hugger fans, attach the motor to the mounting bracket, in most cases with four locknuts (some fans may vary). Attach the motor housing cover to the mounting bracket (usually with four screws).

6. Attach the blades to the motor via the blade brackets. Each blade bracket uses two screws which fit directly to the motor or the flywheel.

I just wanted to share how I removed blood stains on the carpet. It all happened when the patient vomited lots of blood around her bed, on the carpet and most of the parts of her room. Internet heavyweights including Facebook, Google and Twitter are taking the side of popular review website Yelp in a Virginia Supreme Court case to be heard Tuesday that will consider whether commenters who anonymously criticized a prominent local carpet-cleaning business must be identified.

The case, scheduled to be heard in Richmond, has drawn national headlines and is being closely watched by First Amendment advocates as well as prominent Internet companies for the impact it could have on online speech.

Tuesdays arguments come after an appeals court in January ordered Yelp to turn over the names of seven reviewers who anonymously criticized Virginia-based Hadeed Carpet Cleaning. Business owner Joe Hadeed sought to unmask the commenters after suspecting that the negative reviews left on Yelp were not made by real customers.

In a friend of the court brief, Facebook and six other online companies warn that upholding the decision could have dire consequences for free speech. The companies represent their services as having transformed and elevated this countrys long tradition of town halls, private assemblies, robust debate, and anonymous complaints by bringing it online and making it more accessible to people everywhere.

The right to speak anonymously would be greatly diminished if those who objected to anonymous speech could readily employ civil discovery to unmask a speaker, the brief states.

The companies also argue that, aside from free speech issues, the court decision erroneously expanded the Virginia courts subpoena power by seeking to secure records from Yelp, a California-based company that does not have a physical presence in Virginia, where a subpoena would be issued.

In addition to the technology companies, which also included TripAdvisor, Pinterest, Medium and Automattic Inc., the San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation filed its own amicus brief to say that the lower appeals court ruling in the case places the court out of step with the vast weight of authority.

Courts around the country have agreed that, at a minimum, plaintiffs must make an evidentiary showing demonstrating a compelling need for the information in order to unmask an anonymous speaker, EFF attorneys wrote. However, the Court of Appeals did not require Hadeed to demonstrate with sufficient evidence that it can meet that standard here in order to discover the identities of the authors of the Yelp reviews Hadeed alleges are defamatory.

Mr. Hadeeds attorney, Raighne C. Delaney, said he doesnt think the fact that other online companies have weighed in on the case will make one bit of difference.

He noted that the length of time scheduled for the case, 40 minutes rather than the 30 minutes assigned to all other cases that will be heard Tuesday, could indicate that judges have an interest in hearing more nuanced arguments on the case.
