    1 U.S. 92 at North Brunnell Parkway: Expect intermittent eastbound lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews begin removing eight driveway entrances and sidewalk.

    2 U.S. 17/92 at Kinney Harmon Road: No lane closures are scheduled as crews remove muck and put extra soil on the southeast corner.

    3 State Road 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from Overlook Drive to U.S. 27: Watch for slow-moving vehicles and intermittent closures as crews place final striping on the roadway.

    4 SR 37 (South Florida Avenue) from Young Place to Palmola Street: Expect overnight closures as crews replace curb and sidewalk.

    5 U.S. 92 at Palmer Road: Expect intermittent overnight southbound lane closures.

    9 U.S. 92 at U.S. 98: Expect temporary traffic stoppages at night as crews install signal span wires across the roadway. Work on this project includes removing the pedestrian island from the northeast corner of the intersection, widening the turn lane, resurfacing and upgrading the signals.

    Sheriff: Demolition continues in Maimpis

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A sheriff tasked by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 47 in this city said over the weekend that the demolition of illegal structures in the contested 130-hectare property in Barangay Maimpis, being claimed by lawyer Eligio Mallari and some 90 farmers on the other end, is ongoing as embodied in the June 4, 2014 Writ of Demolition issued by the court.

    In his fifth partial report furnished Sun.Star Pampanga, Sheriff Designate-on-Case Angelito Domingo said that from September 3, the demolition of remaining structures--concentrating on the boundaries-- in the two parcels of land under Lot 3364 with TCT No. 154516-R (now TCT No. 042-2012002013) and Lot 3843 with TCT No. 154515-R (now TCT No. 042-20100057900) situated in Maimpis village in the City of San Fernando, continues.

    "With the aid of a geodetic engineer, we are following the technical descriptions as embodied in the name of the petitioners (Spouses Eligio and Marcelina Mallari)," said Domingo.

    He added in the report that "we are putting mounts of soil on perimeter boundaries because the bamboo posts and barbed wires had been destroyed and/or taken by the people who are respondents/affected individuals."

    "As regards to the unauthorized planted sugarcane and others," Domingo furthered, "demolition has already been caused through the use of bulldozers and tractors."

    In the meantime, he said in the report, the chief of police of the City of San Fernando and Pampanga provincial police officers "keep on personally monitoring from time-to-time the on-going demolition to maintain peace and order."

    "Up to the present, the demolition is on-going until it is fully accomplished for the proper turn over to the petitioners as embodied in the June 4, 2014 Writ of Demolition issued by the honorable Court. If the tenor of the Writ of Demolition is fully complied, the corresponding report will be filed and complete turnover of the subject property to the petitioners will be made," concluded Domingo.     Wokingham's Eustace Crescent reduced to piles of rubble as transformation project begins

    A street dubbed Useless Crescent is one step closer to ditching its unpleasant nickname, as more than half the buildings have been knocked down.

    Our photographs show Eustace Crescent being reduced to piles of rubble as wrecking teams work to transform the run-down estate.

    Demolition is well under way and planning permission for the replacement street Phoenix Avenue is due to be decided by Wokingham Borough Council in the next few months.

    A council spokeswoman confirmed demolition was going well.

    She added: It is hoped the whole site will be levelled and cleared by the end of November.

    Councillor David Lee, who represents Norreys ward, said: I know that people are delighted with the start and things are moving along faster than they were before, with demolition to fully be finished within the next couple of weeks and building to start next year.

    Subject to planning approval, construction of replacement homes by council-owned Wokingham Housing Ltd will start on site early next year.

    Demolition of Eustace Crescent expected to start in next few weeks

    The roads new name was unanimously chosen by a panel of residents and councillors in July, after The Wokingham Times ran a competition asking for readers suggestions.

    Capitol Report: Priciest new homes in U.S. built in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania region

    WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) Buyers who want a new home in the Middle Atlantic region are paying up, reflecting pricier tastes and high local labor costs, according to recent research.

    The median sales price for a new spec single-family home in the Middle Atlantic was $131 per square foot in 2013 52% more than the U.S. median making that region the countrys most expensive, according to findings from the National Association of Home Builders, which crunched government data for its report. Speculatively-built homes are residences constructed on a builders land that are sold in one deal along with the land.

    The Middle Atlantic includes New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. High home prices in these states show that the relatively large share of well-heeled buyers are demanding nicer finishing touches, such as ceramic rather than vinyl flooring.

    Its the level of finish, the level of accessories, said David Crowe, NAHBs chief economist.

    Higher costs in the Middle Atlantic region also reflect other higher costs, such as construction workers wages, he said. Meanwhile, the countrys least expensive spec homes in 2013 were found in the West South Central region, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Homes there cost $73 per square foot, according to NAHB.

    Spec homes accounted for about three-quarters of new-construction starts on single-family homes last year. The rest were for custom-built homes, which are erected on an owners land. The priciest custom residences were found on the coasts. In the Pacific region, the price per square foot was $145, compared with $143 in New England, according to NAHB. The cheapest custom homes were in the East South Central area.

    Its partly related to incomes, but more perhaps related to vacation areas, said Sam Khater, CoreLogics deputy chief economist. New England and Pacific [areas] have states with the highest shares of vacation homes in the country.

    In most of the U.S., a custom home costs more than a spec home.

    New custom home buyers are not only willing to wait longer to move into a new home but also pay extra for more expensive features and materials, NAHB reported.

    Their three-story vacation rental house with an estimated construction value of $680,000 actually sits on the lot next to the one they own in the gated Ocean Hammock resort community.

    We are in total disbelief, just amazed this could happen, said Mark Voss, who owns a property management and real estate company in central Missouri. We may have moved (to Ocean Hammock) someday. But, with this headache and grief, were not so sure. The Midwest is looking pretty good right now.

    The Vosss builder, Keystone Homes, which is based in Ormond Beach but builds primarily in Flagler County, has contacted the two lot owners and other parties and is trying to negotiate a settlement, said Robbie Richmond, company vice president.

    The buck stops with the builder. We know that. We are in the process of trying to schedule a conference call and find a fair resolution without the lawyers, Richmond said. I have built about 600 homes in Flagler County and this has never happened to me before. It does happen, but its rare.

    The Vosses, who own 18 other residential lots in the Hammock Dunes master-planned community, paid $160,000 for one with a street address of 23 Ocean Ridge Blvd. North in June 2012, according to Flagler County property records. They hired Keystone Homes to design and build a 5,000-square-foot house there to use as a vacation rental managed by Vacation Rental Pros in St. Augustine.

    The house has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. It also includes a home theater, game room and screened-in pool.

    But the house was mistakenly built on the lot next door, 21 Ocean Ridge Blvd. North.

    Andrew Massaro and his wife, Brooke Triplett, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, bought that lot in 2003 for $355,000. They could not be reached for comment.

    The builder and Voss each say the error can be traced to the first survey in 2013. East Coast Land Surveying in Ormond Beach misplaced stakes, and the foundation survey and other documents and building activity were based on the error. During construction, dozens of subcontractors arrived each day to work at the wrong lot. And a final survey failed to note the error.

    Less has never been as less as this, the critic Hilton Kramer wrote in a scathing review of Richard Tuttles first mid-career retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1975. The exhibition of unassuming worksincluding dyed, irregularly shaped canvases laid on the floor and thin wires pinned to the wallwas so poorly received that it led to the firing of one of the museums top curators.

    Tuttle, however, is having the last laugh. The US artist and his traditionally marginalised media are the subject of three simultaneous exhibitions worldwide. A joint exhibition in Tate Moderns Turbine Hall and at the Whitechapel Gallery in London focuses on the artists use of textiles. Meanwhile, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Maine is hosting the first retrospective of Tuttles prints.

    The 40m-wide installation in the Turbine Halla combination of fabrics dyed midnight blue, deep red and bright orange and hung from the ceilingis the artists largest work to date. It is also the first textile of this scale the Turbine Hall has ever seen, and the first installation since the venue temporarily closed last year to accommodate the construction of the Tates Herzog & de Meuron-designed expansion.

    Inspired by India

    Tuttle has worked with, collected and studied textiles for much of his career. In 1967, he created his first major series, a group of unstretched, shaped and dyed canvases that could be put on the floor or hung on the wall. It was clearly not an ordinary painting, but something that was consciously a textile, says Magnus af Petersens, the chief curator of Whitechapel. The works also distinguished him from his macho, industrial sculptor peers, such as Richard Serra and Mark di Suvero.

    Tuttle developed the fabric for the Turbine Halla unique combination of rayon and natural fibresin collaboration with a textile factory in India. The process gave him a renewed appreciation for the craft. The fabrics we designed could not be more precise, Tuttle says. I am in awe of what a real textile designer does.

    The artist was particularly interested in creating a fabric that blended the manmade and the natural. He is not nostalgic about pre-industrial textile production, says Achim Borchardt-Hume, the head of exhibitions at Tate Modern. Hes more interested in the space textiles occupy culturally.

    In 2012, Tuttle spent ten months as a scholar and artist-in-residence at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. When the designers in India used a technical term he did not understand, he looked it up in the Gettys library. His scholarly understanding of textiles informs a new publication, to be released in conjunction with the Tate and Whitechapel exhibitions. The book is expected to go beyond the traditional catalogue to focus on the history of textiles, and will feature photographs of his personal textile collection.

    Rubenstein Construction Update: Getting a New Roof

    Construction on Rubenstein Library has continued as students settle into classes and the first traces of fall begin to appear in Durham. Workers recently completed the window reconstructions and finished preparing the elevator foundation for further work. In the coming weeks, they will be focusing on a number of projects throughout Rubenstein, including interior wall framing on all levels of the library, beginning storm drain installation, and removing the scaffolding from the Gothic Reading Room.
