A newly-installed parking meter has been vandalised in St Paul's as the campaign against George Ferguson's residents' parking zonessteps up a gear.
Residents barricaded Morgan Street last week stopping council contractors painting new permit bays as part of the latest stage of parking changes sweeping the city.
Paint was then thrown on double yellow lines inWinkworth Place days later.And last night pictures began circulating of a new meter covered in white paint on the corner ofAshley Road and Dalrymple Road.
St Paul's is the 10th of15 zones being rolled outacross the city.
Protests have taken place across the city in opposition to the schemes but the council plans to complete its roll-out by August 2015.
Alyson Ayland, a spokeswoman for the council, said:We have not had anything reported to us but our engineers will go and look for this meter and put right the damage.
It's both disappointing and costly when people resort to vandalism. If anyone sees someone vandalising machines or signs we would urge them to contact Parking Services via http://www.bristol.gov.uk
She added that the council may not notify the police if they find it is an isolated incident.
Green Party ward councillor Gus Hoyt, who supports the idea ofRPZs, said he had recieved a complaint about the paint on the street.
