Sea Worthy for all your yachting needs

    - September 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Envision boat ownership without the hassle of cosmetic and mechanical maintenance. Thats where Sea Worthy Yacht Management comes in your one point of contact for all your yachting needs.

Established in 2000, Sea Worthy is a full-service, professional yacht management company. Owner Rob Haney and business partner Rusty Christensen take care of those time-consuming areas of boating upkeep, so yacht owners can simply enjoy their boat. One of the mainstays of yacht longevity and high resale value, Haney explained, is keeping a sharp lookout for the slightest sign of wear and tear and addressing it before it becomes a problem.

Our goal is to keep the boats turn-key at any given time, Haney said. Were a full-service company washing, waxing, basic systems check, preventative maintenance and more. We also prepare the boats for storms that threaten the Gulf Coast.

Sea Worthy is not a fly-by-night company, but a fully insured and drug-free business that has built a trustworthy brand with hard work and dedication. Haney, an Emerald Coast native, said what truly sets them apart are their years of experience and knowledge.

Since Ive been here my whole life, Ive built and maintained relationships with the best contractors around, Haney said. So when we encounter a need which is beyond our expertise, we can ensure that your work is done professionally and in a competent manner.

Sea Worthys professional services include: weekly or bi-weekly wash and chamois dry, vinyl and eisenglass treatment, clean hatches and under cushions, run engines and generator at the slip every other week, and a complete wax every two or three months at no additional charge. The preventative maintenance includes: fluid levels, racors, strainers, batteries, bilge pumps/switches, shore power, dock lines, fender, navigation lights, and fresh water level.

Weve been taking care of Destin and Sandestin for 14 years and now were looking to expand, Christensen said. We recently moved into The Wharf Marina in Orange Beach and hope to continue caring for more yachts. As we move forward we want to keep increasing and improving our level of service doing what we do, but doing it better.

Thats why Sea Worthy Yacht Management has the saying: Dont let the day to day hassle of owning a boat take all the fun out of it.

Leave the maintenance up to them and theyll leave the fun up to you.

Pink Floyd, Queen, AC/DC And Other Classic Rock Greats To Release Albums This Year: What Gives?

    - September 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

This week's music news is abound in anachronisms:

Twitter user @KitschKiller can be forgiven for wondering in a tweet: What year is it?

Its the revenge of the musical baby boomers year, apparently -- with Gen Xers thrown in for good measure. Some of these bands havent seen hits or even released albums in 20-plus years, so the question of whether they have something new to offer -- or perhaps have mansion remodeling or college educations they need to finance - seems fair. After all, trading on their names and a ready-made audience could be a sure thing. Just the mention of a new album typically sends fans into Twitter tizzies.

Queen is releasing their first album in nearly 20 years, featuring unreleased Freddie Mercury vocals (and reportedly a track with Michael Jackson sharing vocal duties with Mr. Mercury), announced The Telegraph. Pink Floyds first new album in over 20 years, The Endless River, is described as ambient instrumental music and a tribute to Rick Wright, Pink Floyds keyboardist who died in 2008. For the first time in six years, Australian headbangers AC/DC are releasing an album in December. Guns N Rosesnext record, their followup to 2008s Chinese Democracy, may be done this year. The Cure plan on releasing a double album this year, and Bob Dylans remastered The Basement Tapes and Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes will be released in November.

The musical times, they are not a-changin.

NAIOP Minnesota honors top local projects

    - September 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The NAIOP Minnesota commercial real estate group recognized 11 of the years best projects during its Awards of Excellence ceremony Thursday.

The ceremony at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis united professionals from brokerage firms, construction companies, banks, architecture and design firms and development companies. A cross-section of members played in an eight-member band called the NAIOPs.

Doug Fulton, executive director of brokerage services for Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq, said the nominees and many other developers in the room delivered projects that clients and investors want in the high-demand Twin Cities market.

Ryan also won the award for industrial build-to-suit for the Shutterfly Inc. facility at 5005 Dean Lakes Boulevard in Shakopee. (File photo: Bill Klotz)

He pointed to several encouraging signs like medical office development at an all-time high, 2 million square feet of industrial space currently in development, more than 6,500 multifamily units built this year, and a new level of interest in Minneapolis-St. Paul from the investment capital market.

In the midst of all this demand, our industry and our market is fortunate to have some of the best developers and real estate professionals in the U.S., Fulton said.

Eva Stevens, vice president of asset management for Bloomington-based United Properties, was the 2014 recipient of the Presidents Award the associations highest honor. Stevens was recognized for her role in the industry, leadership in NAIOP and service to the community.

United Properties renovation of the Loose-Wiles Building at 701 Washington Ave. N. in the North Loop neighborhood won a NAIOP award for renovations larger than 100,000 square feet. (File photo: Bill Klotz)

TCF Bank Chairman and CEO Bill Cooper touched on some trends shaping the future of the commercial real estate industry during a keynote address.

How fast will White House push Eric Holder replacement?

    - September 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Washington Whats going to be the White House strategy to get Eric Holders successor as attorney general confirmed by the Senate? Thats the big question in Washington political circles today following Holders Thursday announcement that hes stepping down.

As with any big Cabinet shuffle, the real interest among politicos and reporters is what comes next, and not what happened during the previous persons tenure. In this case that natural tendency has been intensified by the timing of Holders resignation. Hes quit just weeks before key mid-term elections. Republicans are favored to win control of the Senate, which would give them much more control over the confirmation process for the next attorney general.

The White House has a choice: try to cram Holders successor through the Senate before control might switch hands, or wait and face the possibility of GOP-run confirmation hearings.

President Obamas selection of a nominee and his decision on how quickly to push the Senate for approval will reveal much about how he envisions his relationship with Republicans in his final two years in office, writes The New York Times Carl Hulse this a.m.

Most Senate Democrats appear to be in the hurry-up camp at the moment. The Senate Democratic leadership has pushed through a rule change ensuring that all appointments except for Supreme Court justices are decided by majority vote, not the old three-fifths threshold. This means it would be much easier for the presidents pick if hearings start in November or December.

Definitely, we should have confirmation hearings as quickly as possible in the Senate, Senate Judiciary Chairman Pat Leahy (D) of Vermont told NBC News on Thursday.

Republicans, unsurprisingly, are generally clamoring for a slower process.

Allowing Democratic senators, many of whom will likely have just been defeated at the polls, to confirm Holders successor would be an abuse of power that should not be countenance, said Sen. Ted Cruz (R) of Texas.

But we say the choice here isnt that clear cut, in partisan terms. There are advantages for the Democrats in waiting to start the nomination process.

For the White House, lining up a Holder successor in a few weeks would be moving pretty fast. There are FBI background checks to make, pre-hearing interviews to get through to expose any possible weak points, and so forth. Plus, as of Friday, there did not appear to be any real front-runner for the post.
