Macklemore may be getting back to the basics on his own music, but when he teamed up with Fences for Arrows, his verse was anything but basic.

The Thrift Shop rapper hooked up with his old friend, Seattle artist Chris Mansfield (a.k.a. Fences), for the collaboration, which was produced by Ryan Lewis. It didnt seem like Chris, who co-wrote the track Ten Thousand Hours for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis debut album, The Heist, had to do much convincing to get the hip-hop star to lend him a couple verses all it took was a simple phone call.

I called him on my cell phone I think you were coming back from a water park or something and he said yeah, Fences said backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. So, we did it.

And the rest is history. Macklemore gets open and honest on his verses on the song, rapping about the downfalls of fame and getting blinded by this limelight.

I was really nervous, Fences said about hearing Macklemores raps for the first time. And I put my computer by my window in Brooklyn and I lit a cigarette and I listened all nervous, and I was like, Oh my god I almost cried. It was so good because he said a lot of things, powerful stuff.

And it doesnt look like Macklemore, who wrote the first verse of the song back in December of last year, has come to terms with his battle with fame. At iHeartRadio, he told MTV News that he still feels very much in that headspace.

I think a lot of it is still relevant, he said. Because I wrote the second verse later than that, and I think a lot of it is still there, it might be for awhile.

Fences Almost Cried When He Heard Macklemores Verses On Arrows

MELBOURNE: A terror suspect shot dead by Australian police after stabbing two officers in a frenzied knife attack may not have been acting alone, officials said Thursday, escalating concerns about the threat posed by radicalised youth.

Abdul Numan Haider, 18, was killed on Tuesday evening on the outskirts of Melbourne, a day after the Islamic State group called for Muslims to indiscriminately kill Australians.

The teenager, described by the government as a known terror suspect who had his passport cancelled for security reasons, launched an unprovoked attack on the policemen outside their station after arriving for a routine interview.

One of them fired a single shot that killed him.

Police on Wednesday said they believed he was acting alone but Victoria state police chief Ken Lay admitted they were now looking into reports that Haider was talking to other people in the lead-up to the attack.

There is some information that he was certainly talking to other people around the time that he came to the police station, he told ABC radio.

(They) may well have known him. I wont say working with him, but its just a little unclear to us at the moment whether there was actually people at the police station with him.

He said police were examining whether someone may have been waiting for him.

It may be a little way down the track before we can actually lay it out to the community exactly what happened that night, Lay added.

Richard Peacock Jr. a principal with Broadway Ellwood Co., is dispatching a letter this week to Alamo Heights residents about the beginning of asbestos abatement on the abandoned structures at Austin Highway, Broadway and Ellwood.

According to Peacock, the asbestos abatement program is to start Monday, Sept. 29, and take three to four weeks to complete.

Peacock said he and his business partners hope that demolition will begin by early November, and end by that month's end.

The property continues to be scrutinized by Alamo Heights officials and residents, as it was where Dallas firm Alamo Manhattan had proposed a multi-story, multi-use complex.

Following months of debate and sizing down the project to address concerns, the developer nixed the plan and terminated its contract for the property.

We really thought we were on a good path with it, Peacock told the Alamo Heights Weekly about Alamo Manhattan's basic concept.

We thought it had met requirements for redevelopment, and thought it'd be a good use of the land.

Peacock said he and his associates acknowledged all concerns expressed over the Alamo Heights Gateway project. In the meantime, the city has granted the property owners' request to get rid of the existing structures.

We are as anxious as anyone that these buildings be removed, and are very sorry for the delay in the demolition process, Peacock wrote.

We initially thought we could donate/move the houses, and it took us an extended period of time to determine that this unfortunately wasn't possible.

Demolition delayed for vacant Alamo Heights property

PARSIPPANY The company that will be demolishing the former Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Parsippany is expected to begin its work "within a month," according to Morris County Administrator John Bonanni.

The work will start with the environmental remediation that must precede physical demolition of the 675,000-square-foot Kirkbride Building, Bonanni told the freeholders at their meeting this week.

The remediation includes the removal of asbestos, lead paint and other hazardous materials.

The area around the 1876-built Kirkbride Building has already been fenced in for the project, Bonanni reported.

Bonanni, who met with both state officials and the contractor, said the "entire project" is expected to take about two years. The company, NorthStar Contracting Group Inc. of New York, which includes LVI Demolition Services, was awarded a $34.475 million contract for the work.

"An area" on the property will be "designated in memory" of the Kirkbride Building, Bonanni said.

The hospital closed in 2008 and was replaced by a new, modern hospital nearby.

Demolition of the Kirkbride Building had been vigorously opposed by preservation groups that wanted to keep the Kirkbride Building intact as a mental health historic landmark, but state officials said the plans they reviewed to redevelop the property would have been too costly.

Ultimately, the 165-acre property is to be turned over to the county, but that won't happen until the bonds issued for the project are retired, Bonanni said.

Meanwhile, county officials are working with state officials to develop plans to access the property, Bonanni said.
