ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) A mold problem has kept some 300 children out of school since Friday at Queen of All Saints Catholic School on Christopher in the Oakville area of South St. Louis County.

But classes are scheduled to resume Thursday at the parish elementary school following extensive cleaning of the 25 classrooms and common areas. A round of post-cleaning tests was being completed on Wednesday afternoon.

Tests completed by an industrial hygiene and safety consultant showed mold in classrooms, on furniture, band instruments and ceiling tiles. The mold was identified asPenicillium, Aspergillus or Cladosporium, which can be found outdoors. It was not the more dangerous so-called black mold.

Bob Palisch, Manager of Archdiocesan Building Projects said the mold could cause allergic reactions. He described the problem in the school as extensive. The cleaning process included wiping all surfaces and spraying with a biocide that kills mold, cleaning out duct work and air handling units. Contaminated paper products and carpets or rugs were disposed of.

According to Palisch the cooler than normal summer may have contributed to the problem. Air conditioning units on the roof of the school did not run sufficiently to lower humidity levels. He said the parish would have the malfunctioning units repaired and probably launch a capital campaign to finance a replacement air conditioning system.

A new look to any landscaping takes a lot of planning.

Our 16 Curb Appeal project is making good progress. Crews removed a tree and the old shrubs. And now it's time for the installation of new plants.

Mark Linton from Linton's Enchanted Gardens showed us how to build a flower bed with a stone retaining wall.

Remember the wooden timbers at the front of our 16 Curb Appeal home?

They're gone and so are the shrubs and soil.

Something that's kind of disturbing is seeing where we've had some wash outs here, Lintoln explained. A piece of wood that was tucked in here, we've got some erosion going on. What we're going to do is actually back fill that and compact that and we're going to build a stone retaining wall.

Sturdy and attractive, he says each stone is hand selected.

We sort through the sandstone, and pick out pieces that have a nice flat edge. We face that toward the front. The first course of stones are partially buried, below grade,.and what that does is prevent any soil from washing or eroding from underneath it.

From the top down, you'll notice the wall is built at a slight angle toward the foundation. That gives it strength against the flower bed soil.

Typically Steed

The vehicle retains its chunky looks, amplified by muscular wheel-arches and high ground clearance, but now with a slightly sleeker profile with the side indicators incorporated into the door mirrors instead of the front wing. The Steed is available in Titanium White and three metallic colours (optional at extra cost) Pearl Black, Sky Silver and Noble Grey. The Tracker special edition will be available in Titanium White and Noble Grey.

Inside the new Steed is where some of the more significant improvements are to be found. Higher quality materials, such as that used on the seat facings and a sharper, more contemporary design of instrument cluster, creates a more comfortable and ergonomic feel to the cabin. New technologies have been added to improve convenience and enhance the ownership experience, including a multi-function rear view mirror with automatic dimming and an outside temperature display. A tyre pressure monitoring system is also incorporated which will display the working pressure for each tyre.

Carrying capacity compares very well with established pick-up rivals as the cargo bed measures 1,380 mm x 1,460 mm x 480 mm (length, width, depth). The Steed has a maximum payload of 1,050 kg and is now certified in the UK to tow 2.5 tonnes with a braked trailer. The increase in towing from 2.0 tonnes followed independent tests at the Millbrook Proving Ground in 2013 where it was put through stringent tests by an independent team of engineers and consultants, subsequently resulting in the Steed being fully validated by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
