For Macklemore, a solid collab is greater than the sum of its parts. The rapper (otherwise known as Ben Haggerty) scored the biggest-selling download of 2013 with the unstoppable hit Thrift Shop," thanks to a team-up with his regular music-making partner Ryan Lewis and Wanz (aka Michael Wansley).

On Arrows, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis appear as featured artists for another Seattle artist, Chris Mansfield, who works under the moniker Fences.

Its a reunion of sorts for Macklemore and Mansfield, who are good friends who've worked together on multiple occasions. The duo met years ago while gigging around Seattle, and Mansfield co-wrote a song on Macklemore's 2012 album The Heist ("10,000 Hours"), and was featured on 2011's "Otherside Remix," which he co-wrote.

Fences enjoys an underground following, but its fair to say the alt-pop outfit hasnt yet tasted anything like the mainstream, international success Macklemore has struck.

We do get asked often for features, Macklemore told Billboard ahead of his performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. I think this record stood out because Im a friend of Chris, I believe in his music. Its one thing to do a feature for somebody whos already famous, its another to, like, work with someone that you like, that you love, that you have an appreciation for and make art, and thats what its all about.

As Billboard reported ahead of the Arrows release, Fences is known for tortured love songs and emo anthems, but the single has a slightly lighter touch than the songs on its self-titled debut album from 2010. Mansfield signed to Atlantic's Elektra Records imprint last year.

It sounds like a cop-out but it was very organic. I dont like to use that word because everyone uses that word. But it was, says Mansfield of the demo-to-completion for Arrows. It was kind of like, we were together twice before and I had a track he would be awesome on and I thought lyrically he would be relevant with it and I sent it to him and he said 'yeah'. And here we are.

Macklemore made headlines on the weekend when he took the iHeartRadio fest stage with star singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran for a performance of "Same Love."

Id seen Ed do a cover of it when he was on tour and we had him out for our tour last year at some point in New York, Weve been friends ever sinceamazing voice, great artist, he supports the song and were in the same city, Mack says of his British buddy. It makes sense.

WASHINGTON, Sept 21 A 42-year-old man was arrested on Friday evening in Washington DC after jumping the White House fences and making it past the front door.

Reuters reported that the man, identified as Omar Gonzalez, was carrying a 3- inch long folding knife when he climbed over the fences along Pennsylvania Avenue, ran to the North Portico entrance, a distance of about 70 yards, and turned the doors brass knob that allowed him to step in the White House vestibule.

According to the Washington Post, the front door on the North Portico, which is frequently used and just one flight of stairs away from the Obamas living quarters, was unlocked at the time of the breach.

After Gonzalez made it past the door, an officer standing post stopped him and subdued him.

USA Today reported that only minutes before the breach, Obama had boarded his helicopter on the South Lawn with his daughters for a weekend getaway to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland.

On Saturday, a second man was arrested for trespassing at the White House. He approached the gates on foot first, but returned with his vehicle to another gate after being sent away by security. When he refused to leave he was arrested for unlawful entry, USA Today reported. Three people hired full-time by the city over the past week will earn from $44,421 to $121,315 a year.

The $121,315 salary will go to Giovanni Zinn (pictured above), the new city engineer. Read about him here.

Nicole Minervini will earn the $44,421 in her role as the new assistant animal control officer.

A third hire, Alyssa Torres, will earn $60,688 as an assistant corporation counsel.

Meanwhile, the city has posted the following five other positions for which people can apply. (You can pick up applications at the Human Resources Offices on the first floor of the 200 Orange St. government building Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Economic development officer/special projects ($49,186 a year).

Job description: This position is the primary contact point between the City and the private business community. Work involves contacting existing New Haven businesses and coordinating solutions to their problems, assisting new business expansion opportunities and actively promoting the acquisition of new economic enterprises for the City. It is the mainstay of the Citys business retention program. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Economic Development and is reviewed through conferences and observation of results.

Minimum requirements: Graduation from a four-year university or college with major course work in business administration, planning or other related fields; and at least two years of direct experience dealing with the business community on a field basis for either private or public agencies and the following knowledge, abilities and skills as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Considerable knowledge of public administration and/or governmental operations as well as some experience in the private sector, preferably working within a private corporation; knowledge of basic business economics including understanding of the private sector economic system, business taxation and finance, business capital investment and private sector personnel policies; competent writing, verbal and computer skills are required as well as the ability to put together logical reports; Ability to understand specific business problems and actively work toward a solution; ability to negotiate and to coordinate with other City and/ or public agencies to effect those solutions; ability to instill confidence in the City through its dealings with the private sector.

Public works laborer ($20.55 per hour/ 40 hours a week).

Job description: This is limited skilled manual and servicing work involving maintenance, repair and construction activities. Involves responsibility for the performance of manual labor, servicing and equipment operation tasks in general construction and maintenance. Involves physical labor and the operation of hand and power tools and light to medium duty automotive equipment. The work is usually closely supervised and the employee receives work instructions at the beginning of each new job; however, constant supervision is not necessary for routine and repetitive tasks which can be carried out without difficulty once these tasks are learned. As employees gain the experience and job knowledge, work assignments may become more difficult and varied.
