MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police in northern York County are alerting residents to a suspicious person seen lurking around homes.
Northern York County Regional Police said Monday officers responded to the 300 block of Harvest Drive in Manchester Township for a report of someone prowling overnight Saturday in Sunday.
Two residents reported someone had been on the back porches of their homes, police said. The residents said there were muddy footprints on their porches, and at another home, someone tried to open a back door.
The residents didn't see or hear anything during the overnight hours, police said.
Anyone with information about the incidents was asked to contact police at 717-292-3647 or report a crime tip through their website.

Prowler reported in York Co. neighborhood
Federal prosecutors and law enforcement officials gathered Monday for a news conference at an outdoor basketball court on the Lower West Side to symbolically return the neighborhood to its residents.
The site, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi, is where many area youths took their first steps down a criminal path.
This is where kids became lookouts, moved on to drug dealers, and where they were introduced to street violence and the 10th Street Gang, Tripi said. This court is now used for its intended purpose, and the families of five homicide victims may have some semblance of peace now that the people responsible for these murders have been convicted.
With Fridays conviction, 44 gang members who have stood accused of racketeering, numerous counts of violence, over two dozen shootings, dozens of narcotics transactions, are all now convicted, said Hochul.
Since 2010, Hochuls office has prosecuted 22 homicides and removed 200 10th Street Gang members from the street, said Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda.
They started moving into Riverside, but theyre gone now, Derenda said. Weve also made arrests of 7th Street Gang members. And were taking on gangs in other parts of the city, including the East Side.
In crediting members of the Buffalo Police Department, the State Police and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Hochul did not forget to thank neighborhood residents.
The citizens of the West Side of Buffalo stood shoulder-to-shoulder with law enforcement, providing testimony and identification of the gang members who were making their lives miserable for many decades, he said.
While no neighborhood residents were present at the news conference, some were seen standing in driveways and doorways of nearby homes. Those sitting on porches were wondering why television trucks surrounded the playground.
One man, who asked that his name not be used, told of motorbikes disturbing the peace late at night. He also mentioned a corner deli and the customers who camp out in front of the store drinking until 1 a.m. But he admitted the neighborhood is peaceful compared with past conditions.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) --
Remodeling jobs should be exciting, but if they are done incorrectly, they can be expensive and stressful.
"See the shower was put in upside down," Elvin said.
The remodeling company, International Home Developers, LLC installed a large portion of the shower improperly, causing a big problem for Elvin.
"See the plumber, when he put it in, I don't think he knew what he was doing," he said.
Elvin paid more than $6,000 to International Home Developers, LLC for the bathroom remodel project.
At first, Elvin and his wife did not realize the attached shelving was installed upside down, until his wife slipped and reached to grab on to it.
The gripping surface on the shelves was facing down, not up, so she had nothing to hold to prevent her from falling.
They called the owner of Internal Home Developers right away.
"He promptly came out and he said, 'Oh my God, this is going to cost me some money,'" Elvin said.

Troubleshooter: Bathroom remodel gone wrong
In 2009, archaeologists working in the heart of Berlin excavated the foundations of what is thought to be one of the city's first churches, St. Peter's Church, built in the early 12th century, in what is now the Petriplatz area.
The church was destroyed during WW II and in its aftermath. The site where the once-grand Romanesque building stood is now little more than a wastelandbut that is set to change.
Due to the religious significance of the site, city planners asked local Protestants if they would like to be involved in the sites redevelopment. But representatives of the Protestant community thought that another church was not necessarily the way to go.
It became clear that we didn't want to build another church, said Anna Poeschel, member of the local Protestant community. We have two big churches in our parish already, the Jewish population has exploded in the last 20 years, and the Muslims in the city need a mosque.
What emerged instead was the the House of Onean idea for a new building hosting a church, a mosque, and a synagogueall under the same roof. If all goes according to plan construction will begin next year and the doors will open in 2018.
Pastor Gregor Hohberg first put forward the idea of multifaith building, and Rabbi Tovia Ben-Chorin and Imam Kadir Sanci have now joined him in the project.
Each religion will have its own practice space, all equally sized but with different designs. There will also be a central room connecting the prayer rooms and providing an area where Christians, Muslims, and Jews can all meet, along with those of other faiths.
We can see all over the world that faith can divide people, said Markus Drge, a Protestant bishop in Berlin. We want to show that faith doesn't divide Jews, Christians, and Muslims, but instead reconciles them.
In 2012, local architect Wilfried Kuehn won a competition to design the building. To raise money for construction a crowdfunding campaign is under way, with a target of $58.6 million. So far donations amount to just over $47,000 from more than 600 donors. But failure to reach the project's goal will not deter planners, who say a basic version of the building could be built for $13.5 million. If planners are unable to raise that, they still plan to fund smaller projects that promote understanding between religions.
The project in Berlin is exciting and beautiful, but in no way the first to go this direction, said Paul Chaffee, editor of The Interfaith Observer. There are lots of sanctuaries serving more than one tradition. You could write a whole book on the experiments to date.
