Austin, Texas (PRWEB) September 02, 2014
National home security firm Protect America, Inc. has announced the addition of Jared Miller to its executive team. As Vice President of Corporate Development, Mr. Miller is responsible for driving increased company value through subscriber acquisition and retention efficiencies, improved customer lifecycle experience and economics, and new growth strategies.
Mr. Miller brings eighteen years of experience in marketing, operations and business development in the subscription services business: most notably in the wireless industry. Before joining Protect America, Miller served as a Sales Director at Amdocs where he was responsible for sales and strategic business development for a Tier 1 wireless service provider account.
The home security space has transformed from providing a passive alarm service into an interactive offering, said Miller. It now includes monitoring, automation, and mobile integration - creating a much more engaging customer experience. I am excited to join the Protect America team which is so well-positioned to capitalize on the growth potential in this space, both with their product and focus on customer experience.
Jared Miller, a graduate of the University of Washingtons Foster School of Business, also served as Director of Retail Strategy and Analytics at Clearwire - one of the fastest growing wireless broadband carriers in America prior to its acquisition by Sprint in 2013. Mr. Millers international consulting and technical experience in the telecommunications and technology industries brings a unique understanding of the nuances within rapidly evolving business climates.
We look forward to Mr. Millers role in the maturation of the company, said Protect America President Scott Fleming. As home security becomes more available to everyone, our team and business strategies are becoming even more robust. Were ensuring that Protect America has the structure and leadership in place to not only accommodate for growth, but to vigorously pursue it.

In the spirit of Humans of New York, we decided to try our hand at Brandon Stantons craft. We walked around the Us campus, looking for people with a story to tell. And this is what we found.
It started with an awkward silence.
Alyssa Claerhout, a sophomore, said This is like one of the most awkward first dates. You totally know what Im talking about though. Just like, whats your favorite color?
What are you studying?
Yeah Oh! I thought you were that was another [one of those questions].
Well it is, but . . .
Im thinking multidisciplinary design with a minor in math because I like the creative side, but I also like the challenging math side.
Not that many people like math. What makes you like it?

My close friend at the time, Russell Homer, had used this particular feng shui master for his home in Jersey, so on his recommendation I got in touch with Master Li. We had previously furnished him with the exact time and dates of birth for Rachael, Emma and myself in order that he could prepare our individual readings before he came.
Master Li explained that there is a health area in every house and we should have a small light on 24 hours a day in that area. He also advised us to put a water feature in the kitchen and he told me in what direction I had to sleep, with the back of my head facing south/south east for the rest of that Chinese year. Apparently you heal as you sleep, so it is important to know where to sleep.
Rachael moved me into a small single bedroom to accommodate this and also the chair in my snug was moved in to a good direction. He added that our health moves in 10-year cycles and mine had started when I was seven years old; he said it was written in my chart that I was going to have health problems from ages 57 to 67.
He also said I would need to celebrate my 70th birthday with a big party, although at the time I was not sure I would make that milestone. However, Rachael says that is when she knew, without doubt, I was going to survive, and that is what kept her going in the terrible times. Deep down she always had this certainty I would live.

Former captain says he was 'open to anything' in fight against cancer Battled the disease for four years after discovering a tumour in his neck Enlisted the help of Master Li a feng shui expert used by a friend Advised him in which direction he should sleep and which parts of his house were healthy

Cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott has revealed how he turned to Feng Shui to help him beat cancer.
The famously blunt-speaking former England captain says he was open to anything in his four-year fight against the killer disease after the discovery of a tumour in his neck.
He enlisted the help of Master Li, a feng shui expert used by a friend - who advised him which direction he should sleep and identifying which areas of his house were most healthy.
Cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott, who has revealed how he turned to Feng Shui to help him beat cancer
In his new book, The Corridor of Certainty, which is being serialised by the Daily Telegraph, Mr Boycott wrote: I was open to anything, just trying to find things to help me stay alive,
The 73-year-old said that on diagnosis, he was given just three months to live unless he embarked on a gruelling programme of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
He coped with the painful sessions following the 2002 diagnosis by thinking back to his cricketing days.

Boycott was determined to complete his 35 doses of radiotherapy and arranged for a Feng Shui expert to visit the home he shared with his daughter and wife Rachael as he tried to get better.
He revealed how Master Li, a feng shui master previously used by a friend, did a reading for him and his house, explaining which direction he should sleep in to ensure he would heal. The family followed his advice, moving Boycotts bed and chair and identifying the health area of the house with a light.
Boycott was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, after noticing a lump in his neck. As someone who does not smoke and rarely drinks, he was confused by the diagnosis and his first thought was, Why me?
After a number of tests, doctors told him the tumour was about the size of a 50 pence piece. It was too large to remove and he would have three months to live unless he undertook a gruelling series of chemotherapy and radiation.
He decided to have the treatment.
He wrote: In one day cricket I used to count my runs, how many an over we needed to win and whether we were above or below the asking rate. I went about it in exactly the same way when I had treatment. I would count each and every one until we got to the halfway mark.
Boycott had to have laser treatment five days a week, which left terrible burns on his neck that had to be covered to stop them becoming infected. He had to wear a plastic mask that was bolted down onto a table, staying completely still to prevent the rays hitting his spine.
He said he was in agony each time the protective pads were removed and his skin was exposed to the air.
His wife likened his chemotherapy drugs, which he was given intravenously, to mustard gas. These drugs destroyed his taste buds, which took 12 months to regenerate, as well as his immune system which took two years to return to normal.
The former England captain lost weight rapidly throughout the treatment, once at the rate of 10lbs in a week, and was unable to eat because of painful blisters filling his mouth.

Immigration minister James Brokenshire said the fence will send a message that Britain is no soft touch for migrants.
The numbers of migrants have recently increased, sparking clashes between rival groups prompting the Mayor of Calais to appeal for more help with the trouble.
Writing in the Sunday Telegraph Mr Brokenshire said it is up to the French to maintain security and order on their own land, but added that the UK would do what it could to help - recalling a 3 million boost to the port earlier this year to improve security.
Clashes: migrants wait for a food distribution by charity NGO in Calais, northern France (Picture: Getty) The minister said the new fencing would replace the "inadequate" fencing currently in place, and added that a hope would be to create secure parking for legal travellers to wait without the threat of hassle from any disruption.
In a stark warning to would-be illegal immigrants Mr Brokenshire said they "should be under no illusion about what awaits them if they arrive here illegally".
He said the Immigration Act ensures those who should not be in Britain will not get benefits, housing, bank accounts or driving licences, and added that criminal gangs who traffic people to the port on the promise of a better life will be investigated and broken up.
Mr Brokenshire said: "Effective solutions must involve co-operation, not confrontation.
"But in working with our international partners, I am, of course ever mindful of our responsibilities on this side of the Channel, chief of which is the need for an immigration system that is fair to British citizens and legitimate migrants and tough on those who flout the law."
Yesterday former home secretary Lord Howard of Lympne said France needs to "get its act together" and deal with the growing numbers of asylum seekers in Calais rather than blaming Britain.
He told BBC Radio 4'S Today programme normal protocol is that asylum seekers apply to stay in the first safe country they reach.
