HEILBRONN, Germany Lift & Shift Engineering Middle East (LSEME) has completed multiple load-outs in Oman of decks for ADMA-OPCOs Umm Lulu/Umm Kaasar project offshore Abu Dhabi.
Challenges including a high center of gravity were addressed through use of self-propelled, electronically steered NICOLAS MHD SPE trailer vehicles, known for their high bending moment. LSEME says the MHD additionally provides the lowest driving height available when loaded.
L&T MF Oman contracted LSEME to transport and load out five offshore decks and one bridge at the fabrication yard in Sohar, Oman. These comprise:
Engineering for this exercise started in 2012 and was completed earlier this year. LSEME was responsible for engineering of transport schematics for trailer arrangements, marine analysis to identify the suitability of barges, and devising a final ballasting and loading plan for the load out of the modules.
It employed 152 NICOLAS MHD SPE axle lines, driven by seven PowerPacks. LSEME mobilized technicians and engineers from Oman, India, and the UAE to manage operations. The WHT 6, the heaviest of the decks, had to be moved during fading evening light. However, there were no incidents during the entire load-out program, LSEME says.

Three times after that, the Johnson family experienced flooding of their basement apartment from sewage backing up through their plumbing, spurting out of the tub and other fixtures. The combination of property damage, health risks and insurance payments left Ms. Johnson and her family in a bind waiting for the city to help.
As Murray heard about the story, he flashed back to the issues that his family experienced in the aftermath of Sandy and knew he had to help. He reached out to the Johnsons to offer his services free of charge. Arriving on the scene the next day, Murray and his team cleaned the apartment, removing all waste and water and taking steps to assure that any health risks were mitigated. The job would normally have cost about $3,000, but the Wolf Disaster Services Team would not accept any payment. They knew it was the right thing to do and the Daily News followed up with a story about Wolf's generosity. Wolf's website contains testimonials from Ms. Johnson, as well as other customers, and describes all of Wolf's services and accreditations.
"We are fully dedicated to our customers and are always continuing our education within the industry," said Murray. "We are a part of several associations and organizations from the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), New York Rug Cleaners Institute, National Association of Mold Professionals (NAMP) and many more."

Four old-style cottages that will boost capacity, enhance experience on verge of completion
Waterford Don't be fooled by the continuing busy rumble of construction work at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Eight years after initial planning began, the campus is on the brink of a major development in its ongoing $8 million project to enhance the residential experience of visiting students, teachers and other professionals.
Four of the theater's seven new Victorian-style dormitory cottages, plus a new rehearsal hall, are slated to open in about two weeks, according to theater Executive Director Preston Whiteway. He said once all seven cottages open, the theater campus will increase capacity for residents from about 40 to roughly 100 beds.
"Now we're going to have a village," said National Theater Institute Artistic Director Rachel Jett.
Whiteway emphasized how the architecture and arrangement will facilitate sociability and create a "summer camp" feel.
Students of NTI and the inaugural National Musical Theater Institute arrive on campus Sunday and leave soon after for a brief off-campus study portion of the semester, some to London and others to New York. The opening of the cottages will come just in time for the students' return, according to Whiteway.
Jett said the additional space will allow visiting artists to stay on campus for extended periods, when in the past they might have stayed at a hotel or been on campus for only a night. This will allow greater opportunity for collaboration between experienced theater professionals and students, she said.
"Now we can invite them to work on what they're working on either with or in front of the students," she said.
Project architect Chad Floyd said he modeled his design for the new buildings on the Methodist camps of the 19th century, where people gathered during the summer for worship and community.
