In Damning Critique Of Pakatan, Zaid Says Selangor Polls The Only Real Answer

    - August 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Former Cabinet minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim says the political intrigue over the Selangor MBs post has now exposed that the tripartite pact comprising PKR, PAS and DAP as an inferior alternative to the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Picture by Saw Siow Feng KUALA LUMPUR A state election is the only acceptable solution to the crisis inflicted on Selangor through Pakatan Rakyats political machinations to remove Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as mentri besar, a former Cabinet minister said today.

Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said the pact has disappointed Selangor residents by trying to get rid of a mentri besar who steered the state with some integrity and professionalism from the time PR took the reins in 2008.

He also said the political intrigue over the Selangor MBs post has now exposed that the tripartite pact comprising PKR, PAS and DAP as an inferior alternative to the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

The people want a function government and leaders who are able to plan and move the country forward. If there is a better choice than the Barisan Nasional, they will go for it, he said in list latest posting on his blog, the Zaidgeist.

Unfortunately, there is none. There may be more corruption under Barisan rule than many would like, but the Barisan has shown its ability to govern without breaking one another's necks and changing mentri besar for no reason at all.

Rather than using its administration of the countrys richest state to showcase its potential as a replacement for BN, Zaid said the pact failed to display the expected political maturity and instead delivered false hope to the public.

Zaid, who quit as de-facto law minister during Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration and had a brief stint with PKR, slammed his former party for wanting to replace Khalid with president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, despite previously touting the former as a credible leader worthy of leading a state administration.

Zaid said PR are now intent on installing a replacement whose greatest strength is complete adulation for and subservience towards her husband, referring to PKR de-facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

While PR has now reached an uneasy consensus to back Dr Wan Azizah for the post, Zaid asserted that the decision was motivated by political expedience rather than any common goal or direction..

Hicks: Is it a bedroom or not?

    - August 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

If youput a bedroom in your basement, city safety codesrequire youto havean easy way to escape in case of a fire.

That usually means putting in a bigger window at an additional cost.

Sometimes, homeowners who wanted to avoid the cost of cutting a bigger hole in the cement, buying a new window and a putting in a bigger window well, would fudge.

They would tell city building and safety staffthe basement room they were remodeling was to be a sewing room, a den, a study -- anything but a bedroom.

So citystaff came up with a definition. If the room has either a closet or a bathroom, then it is a sleeping room and it needs a safe exit.

The definition has worked well for city inspectors dealing with people trying to avoid the cost of putting inan egresswindow.

But it became a bureaucratic nightmare for Laura Pales.

Pales played by the rules. She went to the city with the plans for her basement remodeling project putting in two bedrooms and a TV/rec room.

The city building and safety staff approved the plans. She paid $182 for the permit.

    Butseveral weekslater, bureaucracy intervened.

Roofing for Less, Orillias Leading Roof Installation Company, Announces Benefits of Fibreglass Roofing

    - August 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Orillia, Canada (PRWEB) August 20, 2014

Roofing for Less (http://www.RoofingForLess.ca/), Orillia, Barrie, Midland, Newmarket, Bracebridge, and Gravenhursts leading roofing, siding, and eavestrough installation company, is announcing the benefits of using fibreglass shingles as opposed to asphalt or any other shingle type.

Besides being more durable than other types of roof shingles, fibreglass roofing is made to handle multiple weather conditions like what is experienced throughout Simcoe County, says Doug Lewis, roofing specialist at Roofing for Less. Fibreglass shingles are really tough and dependable. Theyre good for protecting homes in cooler climates and, with the drop in cost over the years, they have become much more affordable when compared to asphalt shingles.

Lewis explains that there are many advantages of fibreglass shingles, including that they can be repaired without having to replace the entire roof. Architectural shingles in particular are even more resilient and offer supreme protection against harsh weather. In most instances, fibreglass is strong enough where it only has to be repaired; this result is a great cost-saving measure for homeowners, says Lewis.

One of the downfalls of asphalt shingles is that they shrink and curl when they wear out, which can lead to water damage, but this is not an issue for fibreglass shingles, Lewis concludes. At Roofing for Less, we have conducted a lot of roofing repairs and replacements, making us experienced roofing contractors who will properly install and repair shingles.

Roofing for Less has been installing roofs, siding, aluminium, eaves, decks, fences, windows, and doors for over 35 years. The company proudly serves the Muskoka and Simcoe communities, providing both residential and commercial roofing services. Roofing for Less also serves Orillia, Barrie, Midland, Lindsay, Beaverton, Bracebridge, Newmarket, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and Oro. Roofing for Less will give an accurate analysis of the condition of a roof and the cost of repairs or a new installation performed by its expert technicians with years of experience that will install the product correctly and in line with the current codes. North End were not far off the top two places last season. A little tinkering and additions to the squad should assist in improving the team but lessos need to be learned from last term.

The two issues that spring to mind were the slow start that North End made last season including a number of draws inthe first ten games. This was prior to Gallagher arriving and Garner settling into first team action. The second point is with the side conceding late goals costing them points a number of times.

Lat night Preston took the lead from a regenerated Chris Humphrey and looked like they were heading fro all three points when Tyson scored an equaliser well into injury time.

Some blamed keeper Jones although it is a little early in the season for doubting the new recruit although he has looked a little shaky at times. The bigger picture needs to be looked at and if Preston cannot kill teams off then they will fail to reach their aim of a top two finish.

Camera Soul Wins Second Akademia Award for Music Excellence

    - August 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bari, Italy (PRWEB) August 20, 2014

Few jazz and funk groups have gained the attention that Italy's Camera Soul has experienced during the past year. Since the group's July 2013 release of its second studio album, "Not For Ordinary People," which peaked at #2 just under legendary soul group, Earth, Wind and Fire, on the UK Soul Chart in October, Camera Soul has won its second award from the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based panel, The Akademia.

According to its website, The Akademia is described as a new panel that was created by six former senior record executives and music industry professionals, whose sole purpose is to award excellence in music. The Award also serves as a first step to sharing the artists' work with a greater audience within the music industry. There are five submission types for songs, albums, and videos, as well as 25 genres that are judged and awarded among hundreds of worldwide submissions each month.

To quote the anonymous sources on the panel that commented on the newest win for song "Locked Inside," Camera Soul delivers "riveting sensual vocals, tight acoustic instrumentation, and inspired solo work [that] captivate the listener and establish this group as a musical force to be reckoned with."

Selections from the album, "Not For Ordinary People," continue in strong rotation primarily among Internet radio stations around the world, and the group hopes for inclusion in rotation on terrestrial and satellite radio as well.

August has proven historically to be a great month for Camera Soul. It was in August 2013 that the band won its first Akademia Award in the category 'Best Funk Song' for "My Heart," with music from Piero and Pippo Lombardo, and lyrics by Ballard Shut. On August 15, 2014, one year after "Not For Ordinary People's" release, The Akademia announced that Camera Soul had won again, this time in the category 'Best R&B/Soul Song,' with the chilling psychological ballad "Locked Inside," jointly penned by Ballard Shut and Pippo Lombardo.

The coveted Akademia Award comes on the heels of the anticipated release of Camera Soul's third studio album in three years, "Dress Code," featuring two notable additions to the lineup: lead vocalist, Maria Enrica Lotesoriere (aka 'Maria Enrica'), and drummer Fabio Delle Foglie. "Dress Code" is slated to release in late 2014 and promises strong compositions and arrangements from the Brothers Lombardo, renewed musical and lyrical collaboration with Ballard Shut, and including new contributions from Maria Enrica.

Camera Soul has also been extremely busy both on- and off-stage throughout 2014. In February, the group kicked off a mini-tour of Southern Italy, often to standing-room and sold-out audiences. The highlight of the tour came on July 15, 2014 when Camera Soul opened the first week of the Multiculturita Summer Jazz Festival in Capurso, with high audience attendance and acclaim, as well as a subsequent interview on BariWeb TV.

In addition to the small tours and studio recording on "Dress Code," critics on revered soul music sites such as SoulTracks.com (USA), The Baltimore Times (USA), Music Vein (UK), and the Puglia Journal (Italy) have offered glowing reviews of "Not For Ordinary People." Soul music fans, particularly on the Soul Train Power 20 Site Soultracks.com, have 'Liked' and shared the review of "Not For Ordinary People" throughout the year on Facebook, creating additional buzz about the group.

For more information about Camera Soul, including tour dates, music, photos, as well as to download a free Android music "jukebox," visit the group at http://www.reverbnation.com/camsoul.

Los Angeles Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Contractor, Modaa, Inc. Produces a Time-Lapse Video to Stay Competitive in …

    - August 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2014

Los Angeles kitchen and bathroom remodeling contractor looks for alternative ways to showcase his work in a competitive construction market. California alone has about 300,000 licensed contractors in various building trades. Long gone are the days of before and after photos, project portfolios, and letter of recommendations. With the market being overpopulated by licensed professionals, builders are thinking outside the box to come up with more creative ways to share their work and display their portfolio. Los Angeles is among the top competitive areas for remodelers, given the development opportunities and Hollywood's luxury homes. One of the most shocking realities is partaking in a job walk that has six other contractors bidding the same project. Yelp and other review sites are a great way to share customer reviews, however "video has killed the photography show," in terms of displaying detailed craftsmanship.

Here is how Modaa Inc, a Los Angeles kitchen and bathroom remodeling company promoted their recent kitchen build out. The footage is a compilation of thousands of images captured during construction, in order to create a moving video of all the remodeling pieces that come together like legos. The camera had to be in one exact spot without any movement to the lens or body. Employees had to work around the camera, making sure the time-lapse images were an ongoing sequence. In addition to set up, remodeling around the camera was the most challenging aspect, especially when the larger moving pieces arrived.

As demand for a service increases, so does supply. When thousands of competitors are pursuing the same projects you're working towards, you have to stand out and most importantly add value. "Competing against three contractors to bid a job is the norm, however when there are six other builders interested in the same project, there needs to be a clear definition of why the client should hire us," says Patrick Ahounber, Founder of Modaa Inc. Price estimate is the most commonly compared item in terms of bids, with quality or work, vision, and work ethic as being close followers. However, there is almost always more to it than cost and quality. The essence of a team needs to be present from the get go. "I often question what our marketing team is doing capturing all these videos. I'm used to the old fashioned way of doing business which is thru referrals. But as things change, we need to adapt and stay relevant," says Patrick Ahounber.

The old fashioned way was for the Architect, Designer and Contractor to work as a team and keep things moving. However, nowadays one remodel can have two Designers, an Architect, a Contractor and Advisors. It is critical for the team to share the same vision in order to effortlessly complete the project without any surprises. The market has become so competitive that contractors go in with a low bid and stack on the change orders in order to get the job. That kind of creativity will backfire sooner than later. Being upfront, and transparent gives us the advantage to proudly place a camera on our job site and showcase our work. Our clients love the idea of video testimonials and video coverage of our work.

The important factor is not the number of clients companies take on, it is the number of clients they sustain. Through our years of designing and building, we have come across many remarkable people and remodeled incredible homes. Weve made some friends, established partnerships and picked up a lot of cultural nuances. After all, Los Angeles is the circle of diversity.
