COLUMBIA Missouri freshman wide receiver Lawrence Lee streaked toward the end zone. Overhead, the football floated under the lights.
Lee made a quick adjustment with his body and reached out his hands. The ball grazed his fingertips and bounced on the turf, tumbling toward the end zone.

Lee pursued the pigskin, scooping it up and veering off his route at the last second saving himself and the ball from careening into the offensive linemen who were practicing blocking drills in the Devine Practice Facility end zone.
On Thursday, rain forced the Tigers' practice indoors. In the tighter confines, players had to maintain spatial awareness. As Missouri assistant coaches explained, safety is a concern in such close quarters. Quarterbacks can't throw the ball deep as often. And receivers must adjust to the lighting and the fact that offensive linemen are tussling in the end zone.
The indoor facility houses a 90-yard field with a single true end zone including a goalpost at one end.
It's apparent the loss of space can create some hazards.
Aside from Lee's close call with the offensive linemen, there were two other near collisions during the first 45 minutes of practice. On one occasion, redshirt freshman Eddie Serrano fell over fellow defensive lineman A.J. Logan during a defensive pass-catching drill. Logan, a Rock Bridge graduate and also a redshirt freshman, was retrieving a football when Serra back-pedaled into him.

April Blizzard has been letting her lights shine for 25 years, and her daughter Kelly has carried on the torch for the past couple of years.
Blizzard and her husband Thomas, a Deep Run native, own The Lighting Gallery a subsidiary of her husbands 55-year business, Blizzards Building Supply.
Kelly Blizzard has worked for her mother at the lighting store since the early 1990s, and has been managing it since her mother took semi-retirement.
April Blizzard said she still works there every other Saturday morning and when shes needed.
She grew up in Idaho and met Thomas in Utah when he was in the U.S. Air Force.
When she graduated with a nursing degree from St. Benedicts Hospital School of Nursing in 1961, she and her husband moved to Kinston where she continued her studies at ECU and taught nursing at Lenoir Memorial Hospitals then-School of Nursing.
Im in my second career now, Blizzard said about the lighting business. In the late 1970s, she worked part-time at her nephews lighting store, The Lamplighter Shop, until a disaster occurred.
There was a fire in 1987 that leveled the whole shopping center, she said, and we were out of business for the whole year.
Blizzards nephew didnt want to start up the business again, so Thomas and his brother rebuilt their building at Village Square Shopping Center and his wife opened The Lighting Gallery in August 1989. Were actually in the same location, she said, but were in the opposite end of The Lamplighter Shop.
Kelly earned a degree in interior design and took a seasonal job in Moorehead City. When she came back to Kinston, she began working in the flooring business next to The Lighting Gallery until a vacancy opened up in her mothers shop.

Adding sitting areas to a master suite is a great way to create a personal retreat.
Annie Schwemmer, Renovation Design Group
Home design is where art meets science, function meets beauty and a house becomes home. While the average homeowner can recognize a room that looks and feels good in real life, they can rarely feel what the architect has designed on paper. However, there is a method to the madness.
Part of the method of design is to understand how the homeowner will use a room. Take the master bedroom for example. Determining the size and elements of this room depends on how it will be used and how the residents will live in the space.
Do you need a big bedroom?
Big, spacious master bedrooms are good for people who plan to use their bedroom as a private getaway. When you have or create a large master bedroom, it is important to not waste the extra space. Create a mini living room with a seating area and a TV and/or fireplace. If relaxation is not your main goal, you can use the space to express your creativity with activities such as crafts, painting or practicing an instrument. The key is to individualize the space to offer a place to wind down after a long day. Large bedrooms such as these pair well with a bathroom and a closet to create the luxurious master suite. A typical master suite requires about 400 to 800 square feet and will cost about $150 per square foot for a remodel and about $220 per square foot for an addition.
The downside to a large master suite is the potential for clutter buildup. Make sure you stay organized by having a place to keep everything. A disorganized master suite will never qualify as a personal retreat.
Do you need a small bedroom?
Even though we design plenty of beautiful, spacious master suites, we still stand by our motto: Bigger isnt always better. Sometimes a small bedroom can be more restful and relaxing than a large master suite. The master suite can seem frivolous and wasteful to someone who doesnt plan to do anything but sleep there. A bedroom designed as a cozy sleeping nook really only needs space for a bed and a nightstand. A small but well-designed, bedroom can actually turn out to be more restful than a bigger bedroom and will stay cleaner.
Another plus to creating a smaller bedroom is that the square footage could be used in a different part of the house. If the bedroom isnt your priority, then you could create a design that steals a few feet from the bedroom to make a bigger living room.
