Everybody knows Alfred Hitchcocks Rear Window is set in Greenwich Village. But few realize the massive Hollywood set on which the thriller takes place is based on an actual New York City location.

The address given in the film which opened 60 years ago this week is 125 W. Ninth St., a red brick apartment building where the wife murderer played by Raymond Burr lives in a rear apartment with a fire escape that Grace Kelly climbs to look for evidence.

As was customary in crime films back then, the address is fictitious. But film historian Donald Spoto, a longtime resident of the West Village, traced that address a few years ago to 125 Christopher St. as Ninth Street is called west of Sixth Avenue.

Its not an easy building to get into theres no doorman, and the super didnt answer the doorbell. But around the corner on West 10th Street, The Post was welcomed into a Federal-era townhouse on the other side of the courtyard for a rarely seen rear view of 125 Christopher and the neighboring buildings that inspired the movies set.

Yes, this is where Jimmy Stewart lives in Rear Window, says the tenant, actor-director Sean Gullette. Architecture is one of the building blocks of making films, and Hitchcock was brilliantly inspired by this view.

Even with a vista partly obscured by trees absent from Hollywoods version, its recognizably the same point of view seen from the apartment of Stewarts wheelchair-bound photographer-turned-voyeur.

Granted, the backyard fence is taller than the one Kelly, Stewarts fashionable girlfriend, scales in high heels Gullette thinks the fence may have been rebuilt fairly recently. But even in 1954, the set designers rearranged things to accommodate the intricacies of Hitchcocks plot and camera moves.

Sixty years later, its easy to imagine where Raymond Burrs apartment would have been and where Miss Lonelyhearts (Judith Evelyn) lived just below, and the fire escape where another couple slept in an era when few working-class people had air conditioners.

The Bay Area is known for its intemperate summers and wild temperature swings that leave tourists shivering by the wharf and sweltering inland. But evenings turn balmy in late summer and early fall -- and al fresco dining becomes a lovely thing.

These are a dozen of our favorite spots for dining outdoors, restaurants that range from the sleek and chic to the charmingly casual, with glorious patios, terraces and decks. Most of them are fairly new -- open just a few months or a year or two. Two are classics, but they've remade themselves so completely -- from patio to menu -- they're irresistible.

El Techo de Lolinda

The scene: It's been a year since San Francisco's most famous -- and only? -- rooftop bar, atop the former restaurant Medjool, transformed into a sophisticated, Latin street-food fiesta. The sister bar to Lolinda, the buttoned-up Argentine steakhouse downstairs, El Techo is all about fun in the sun and fog: handcrafted, citrus-based mezcal and tequila "coctel" ($8-$12), by-the-pound chicharrones de carne ($14-$32), mix-and-match skewers, or chuzos ($7-$35) and a selection of small plates ($8-$13), from sopes to quesadillas, that will make you swoon for more.

Eye candy: Speaking of swooning: 360 degrees of San Francisco, a lime-tiled bar, cornflower blue umbrellas, adorable, manicured cactus gardens, wooden two-tops with metal stools, and yellow twinkling lights to fall in love under. Equally fabulous for a first date or girls-day brunch.

Sip & nosh: Empanadas de carne ($8) and ceviche de camarones ($13) are musts. The moist empanadas have a thin, flaky crust that elevates this classic combination of ground beef, potato, egg and raisin from the hard, doughy versions of yesterday. Roasted tomato, red onion, cucumber, avocado and what looked like slivers of radish gave the shrimp ceviche a zesty, addictive bite. For cocktails, we loved the complexity of the Margarita del Techo, with ocho plata, fidencio, mezcal, combiner, napoleon mandarin and lime (single, $13; pitcher, $45) and the La Paloma ($10; $34) made with tequila, grapefruit, lime, agave and soda.

The business offers design and build services, as well as lawn maintenance services, to residential and commercial clients, mostly in Summit County, according to Bob Anthony, who owns and operates the business with Kevin Graham.

Anthony said he and Graham bring 12 years of combined experience to the business.

We combined my skills in lawn maintenance and Kevins skills in landscape construction to form Timeless Landscapes about one year ago, said Anthony. This combination provides a great balance for our customers and an opportunity to grow the business. We also have five professional staff members that are knowledgeable, experienced and trained, and we can take care of all outdoor needs for our customers.

Anthony said the construction side of the business, led by Graham, can design and construct decks, walkways, patios, fencing, retaining walls and water features. Also available is bed excavation and the creation of new garden beds with annual and perennial plantings, as well as mulch and gravel work.

Anthony said customers can get all their lawn care services taken care of through Timeless Landscapes.

The lawn maintenance services include mowing, full fertilizer and weed control services, garden bed maintenance, shearing and pruning of bushes and trees, brush and tree removal, leaf removal in the fall and general spring and fall cleanup.

Timeless Landscapes also offers power-washing services for patios, decks, driveways and buildings, and in the winter, snow removal services are available.

Anthony said the business has spent time this summer working to address drainage issues for many customers after the heavy rains in May and June.

We have seen a lot of drainage problems, and we have been working to reduce these flooding issues for our customers, he said. We work to pull water away from homes, using drains and reworking downspouts to address the overflow of these heavy rains. We also look at low spots on lawns and work to prevent that pooling of water.

Timeless Landscapes offering services for lawn care needs

With the September debut of Forza Horizon 2 rapidly approaching, developer Playground Games has unveiled 31 more vehicles slated to appear in the open-world racer.

Unlike the initial deluge of cars revealed last month, Playground is now unveiling vehicles in smaller, thematic packs. The first 16 "were chosen with heritage in mind," according to Playground, and the list includes such highlights as the 2002 Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, the 1967 Corvette Stingray 427 and, because a list of iconic cars isn't complete without at least one 70s-era American muscle car, the 1971 AMC Javelin AMX.

Playground later unveiled a list of 15 cars with "notable racing history," including rallycross stars like the 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO, classics like the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe and 1971 Plymouth Cuda 426 HEMI, and high-powered supercars like the 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Granted, the Bugatti doesn't have a lengthy history of racing wins, but it does have a massive price tag only matched by the horsepower under its hood, so apparently it qualifies.
