    Standing strong in home-remodeling industry

    - August 4, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Corey Schiller had barely turned 30 when he became chief executive of what was then a $130 million home-remodeling company.

Now Power Home Remodeling Group, of Chester, employs 1,350 and will report, Schiller said, $300 million in revenue for 2014.

Schiller, 32, a soccer-playing history major, was 21 when he and his best friend started at Power as junior salesmen right out of college. Two years later, Schiller earned a promotion to lead a marketing department of 40 people. He was 23 years old.

    Question: How did that go?

Answer: There's never a good reason to have a closed mind and that, unfortunately, is a situation I stepped into. We had a lot of people that had been here for a really long time, that had never been held accountable, that had never been pushed, and the professional standard, in my opinion, was very low. That, in addition to being a young man, in addition to not having a lot of experience, meant that it was really hard.

Q: How did you earn respect?

A: I've done almost every job here at Power. And I realized along the way that the only way you can be an effective leader of someone - no matter what their position is - is you have to know their position and you have to be able to do it with excellence, so you can teach them how to do it with excellence.

Q: Some young execs strive to create an informal atmosphere - jeans, beer on Fridays.

No joy at car service centres

    - August 4, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are getting increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of service provided by authorised vehicle service centres.

The J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2014 Malaysia Customer Service Index (CSI) study also found that the expectations of vehicle owners increased since last year.

Overall satisfaction among new Malaysian car owners slipped three points from last years score to 754 out of 1000, the study revealed.

Satisfaction with service provided by Malaysian national brands dipped below the overall average to 744 points, down five points from last year.

On the other hand, the study found that customers expected more from these service centres, compared to the year before.

The study identified 22 service standards that enhance the overall customer service experience. Customer expectations in 2013 were for service centres to meet 17 of the 22 standards, stated the study.

In 2014, customers expected a minimum of 19 of those 22 standards to be met in order to have a positive service experience.

The study also found that additional services improved customer satisfaction, such as washing and vacuuming vehicles at the completion of the service and making follow-up phone calls to customers after service had been completed.

It stated, however, that only 14% of mass market customers had their service centres carry these out.

Toyota ranked highest in overall customer service satisfaction with a score of 777, followed by Nissan at 776, while Isuzu and Mazda tied for third place at 775.

Which NFL stadiums are best reinventing the fan experience?

    - August 4, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Sports fans have more options than ever when deciding how to view a sporting event. HD and 3D televisions make the action more real at home and give fans a way to watch the game on the cheap, all from the comfort of their own homes.

This is leading sports organisations to invest large amounts of money into creating unique fan experience areas within their arenas and stadiums. By creating additional fan engagement areas that fans cannot get with an at-home experience, organizations are hoping to raise their chances of getting fans back.

With the NFL season approaching quickly, here are threenew and recent fan-experience renovations to NFL stadiums:

    1. EverBank Field Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have never been shy about trying new things to attract fans to come to the games and forget about the mostly lackluster product on the field. With that in mind, the Jaguars have three unique offerings that are new for fans heading into 2014:

New Video Boards: Jerryworld (AT&T Stadium) no longer holds the record for largest video board in the NFL. The Jaguars decided to out-do the Cowboys monstrosity with a 60 feet by 362 feet video board. (Did we mention there are two of these in the stadium?)

a new article today: St Louis Pest Control: Exterminator for Bed Bugs, Mice, Spiders and/or Termites.

This article reveals Pest control issues that plagues millions of homeowners every year. This process can take up a lot of time and hard-earned money to solve. This article will help find a solution to various pest control problems before things get worse.

Here is a tip for problems with bees, wasps, or hornets, spraying them with hairspray. The hairspray kills the insects and the residual odor repels new ones from emerging. But research which pest treatments are allowed in accordance to building codes and local ordinances. Do not use any banned chemical, without mentioning the potential damages caused to surroundings. Instead, find out what methods of pest control have been used successfully. Heres an idea to deal with a spider known as a brown recluse, use sticky traps to catch them. They can hide very well and they are hard to kill with pesticides. Spiders come out during the night to eat. Good places to put these traps are behind furniture and along baseboards.

To determine a termite problem exist, have a trained dog locate them. Dont rely on another human being. Qualified humans are only able to tell if one-third of the house is termite-free. The dogs smell for methane gas, which is a byproduct of the wood the termites are eating. Another Pest Control tip for bedbug infestation: a bedbug can survive for up to a year without nourishment. All holes that are in floors and walls need to be closed. And bedbugs caught in these holes wont be able to escape once they are sealed. If pests and bugs are a distraction, help may be at hand. Contact a local Pest Control professional, they can help eliminate pests and solve the pest control problem. They carry the correct pesticides to eliminate pests problems.

St Louis Pest Control owner John Mitchell says many people struggle with really understanding local Pest Control issues and they can be solved. This information is not usually shared openly in the Pest Control and Exterminator Services industry.

Therma-Tru Experts Offer Tips for Deciding When to Replace a Front Door

    - August 4, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Maumee, Ohio (PRWEB) August 04, 2014

Homeowners looking to save on rising energy bills can start right at the front door. That's the advice of experts at Therma-Tru Corp. during Door Do-Over Week(August 3-9, 2014) who suggest evaluating the main entry door at least once a year to determine the status of the door's operational capabilities and energy efficiency features.

"Every component of a home needs to be replaced at some point over time," says Brad Johnson, vice president of marketing for Therma-Tru Corp. "Most homeowners can get years of service out of their front door, but there will come a time when a door needs to be replaced. That's why it's important to annually evaluate and maintain your main entryway."

According to Johnson, there are several easy ways homeowners can determine when it's time to consider a front door replacement.

Tip #1 - Open and close doors in the home, on both dry and wet, humid days. Make sure all the components operate smoothly. If the door doesn't close securely or fits tightly on humid days, then its most likely leaking air on dry days, causing the home to lose energy.

Tip #2 - Inspect the weather stripping around all sides of the front door to make sure it has not worn out. On a bright day, stand inside near the door and look for daylight flowing through the door perimeter. If light is coming in, then so most likely, is external air and possibly moisture. That means its time to determine if the foam-filled weatherstripping may have lost some of its compression, cracked or simply worn out.

Tip #3 - Examine the locks to make sure they operate smoothly and are strong enough to help protect the home. Multi-point locking systems, like those that can be requested on Therma-Tru doors, offer exceptional peace-of-mind and security for the home.

Tip #4 - Reach out and touch the door on both hot and cold days. If you feel the exterior temperatures on the inside surface, then the door may not have adequate insulation. In this situation, consider upgrading the door with a replacement that is more energy efficient and has an ENERGY STAR qualified rating for your geographic area. Order a multi-point locking system on a new door for a tighter fit against the weatherstripping, which can help provide even greater energy savings.

Tip #5 - Look at the appearance of the door. If it's a wood door, it may be warping or rotting after years of service. A steel door can get dinged and rust over time. And, it's possible that the style of the door simply doesn't match up with the design of the home. These are all red flags that it's time to replace a front door.
