Also available, SENKO dry cloth cleaner removes oil and dust contaminantsfrom MPO fiber connectors. L-Com 45 Beechwood Dr. North Andover, MA, 01845 USA Press release date: June 12, 2014

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- L-com Global Connectivity, a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, announced today that they are offering three new MPO fiber products: a 40gig rated cable, a coupler for cross wiring and a dry cloth cleaner. As data center bandwidth requirements continue to grow, Multifiber Push-On (MPO) technology has become the default cabling solution and these new products will give customers more dependability in their application.

"MPO cabling brings new challenges for IT professionals" said David Gallagher, Product Manager, "But L-com offers two styles of MPO couplers to help make configuration easier, and our MPO products offer high speed data performance without taking up valuable rack space."

The L-com multi-fiber round cables deliver advantages that far outweigh their size by offering up to 12 times the density than an SC connector of the same size. This product uses four channels of the MPO connector to receive and four to transmit. Each channel is 10gig rated using OM3 cable. With a push-pull design for easy mating and removal, significant installation time can be saved.

L-com's new MPO fiber optic coupler provides a fast and easy way to connect one male MPO cable (with alignment pins) to one female MPO cable (without alignment pins). By joining two cables and cross wiring them, this coupler allows users to quickly and easily change a cable from straight to crossed or vice versa without having to buy a new cable. Steel mounting clips allow for easy snap-in installation.

Cleaning fiber optic connectors is also critical to delivering a reliable network installation. The SENKO fiber optic cleaner is a dry cloth cleaner that is specially designed to clean MPO fiber connectors. The dust cap of the cleaner acts as an adapter for cleaning unmated connectors and it is estimated that this helpful tool can clean over 600 connectors and/or ports before requiring replacement. This cleaner is simple, easy to use, and highly effective at removing oil and dust contaminants that can inhibit optical performance.

Solar water heater manufacturers seek clearance of unpaid dues from Govt

    - June 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    New Delhi, June 12:

The Solar Thermal Federation of India (STFI), an industry body representing the solar water heater manufacturers, on Thursday appealed to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to release the unpaid subsidies of around 350 crore.

About 50 crore of subsidy remains unpaid for the year 2012-13 and 300 crore for 2013-14. Going by the market growth, the subsidy liability will grow additionally to about 500 crore, said Jaideep Malaviya, secretary general of STFI.

As part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission launched in 2010, consumers could avail themselves of a subsidy of 30 per cent on solar water heaters. The subsidy was provided by sellers registered with the MNRE as direct channel partners under this programme. The sellers were to be reimbursed by the ministry for providing the subsidy to consumers.

Over the years, solar water heater manufacturing has risen to 10 lakh sq meters of flat plate collectors in the country as of 2013-14. However, this amount fell from 14 lakh sq meters in the previous year.

According to STFI, the fall in production was due to lack of funds with the manufacturers who have dues pending with banks and suppliers.

Demand has been growing at a CAGR of 35 per cent so it's not that demand has come down', but the fact is we dont have the money to produce more, said M D Akole, Chairman of STFI.

Akole added that manufacturers of solar water heaters were small-scale industries and most of them have given personal guarantees to their bankers.

Painting a gloomy picture for the industry unless the pending dues are cleared, Malaviya said that manufacturers would have to stop production soon if the dues are not cleared.

STFI, which has been seeking an appointment with Upendra Tripathy, Secretary of MNRE, has not been able to meet the top bureaucrat in the ministry to present their demands.

    It's Time to …

    - June 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Create a fragrant pathway. Turn the walk to your front or back door into a wonderfully fragrant experience by planting herbs along a sunny path. The closer you plant the herbs to the edge of the path, the more likely they'll spill over into where your footsteps will help release the herbal fragrance. You can choose from a variety of herbs, either perennials (such as lavender, oregano, sage, and thyme) or annuals (such as basil, dill, rosemary, and summer savory).

Turn your whole garden into a butterfly garden. Rather than designate only one bed as such, spread the wealth of pollinator food plants throughout the garden to nourish butterflies, bees, and wasps, all good pollinators. Incorporate native perennials such as butterfly weed ( Asclepias tuberosa), blazing star ( Liatris species), and purple coneflower ( Echinacea purpurea). You also can plant serviceberry ( Amelanchier species) and fall-blooming witch hazel ( Hamamelis virginiana), both small, native trees. Some non-native annuals like zinnia and marigold, as well as shrubs such as butterfly bush ( Buddleia davidii) and lilac ( Syringa species), can also be sources of nourishment for insect pollinators.

Local summer staple closed for repairs

    - June 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - In Chattanooga, hot days like today usually mean kids flocking to the Coolidge Park fountain. The problem is, it's closed for repairs and has been for the last 10 days.

The "closed for repairs" sign is a disappointing sight for families looking for a free and fun way to beat the heat.

"We're sad because the water was not going," one kid said.

"We were just going to come down here for something different to do in the summer," parent Amber Wyatt said.

A broken pump put the attraction out of service June 13th.

"We had to un-install the pump and have it repaired and when we re-installed the pump, there were a couple other issues and we've had to un-install it again and have some additional repairs done," Chattanooga Public Works Dept. Deputy Administrator Justin Holland said.

Meanwhile, every day dozens of local families have been putting on their swimsuits and driving to Coolidge Park, just to turn back around.

"That's the alternative, papa's going to have to quirt them this afternoon with the hose," grandparent Fred Bennett said.

"If they don't come down here, they go somewhere else so that definitely hurts my sales," Bill's Shaved Ice owner Bill Henderson said.

Having fewer people in the park is costing surrounding businesses.

Renoir-inspired statue makes debut at PPG Plaza

    - June 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

It took three days, a 50-ton lift and a 70-foot flatbed to install Seward Johnsons statue A Turn of the Century, at PPG Plaza.

Passers-by on their way to Market Square Monday through the plaza stopped, took out their headphones and gazed at the 20-foot-tall, 14,440-pound monumental bronze sculpture.

The likeness of a Parisian couple dancing was celebrated Tuesday as the Freya String Quartet played La Vie En Rose, among other works, and the Point Park University Conservatory Dance Company, dressed in bright red, performed Memoirs in Renoir. As the crowd waited for the ribbon cutting, Paris-trained mime Mark Conway Thompson, dressed as Marcel Marceaus character, attempted to mop water back into the plazas dancing water fountain.

"This is another endeavor to give Pittsburgh the look and feel of a European City, Elizabeth Tata, president of Laurel Foundation, said.

The statue, which has been displayed in other cities, is based on an 1883 life-sized painting by impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Dance at Bougival.

Renoir used two of his close friends as models for the piece, which evokes the scene at open-air cafes in the Paris suburb of Bougival. Ms. Tata said the foundation brought the sculpture to Pittsburgh because the work reflects the city with European flair, with many plazas and open-air cafes.

The Laurel Foundation was started by Mellon heiress and philanthropist Cordelia Scaife May in 1951 to preserve the citys culture and history. Since Mays death in 2005, Ms. Tata said, the foundation honors her legacy by bringing people to the city with interesting and unique works.

The foundation rented the sculpture for $22,000, which included hauling the three pieces and gluing them together, and it will stay in PPG Plaza until Oct. 3 before the ice rink is installed. Ms. Tata said she hopes the sculpture will bring people to the city. Already, a bridal party took pictures imitating the couple Saturday as the piece was being installed.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said at the ceremony he also hopes the statue will bring people to the city.

"Were a city known for making things and building things, but we are also known for our arts, he said.

With its vast indoor platforms, raised glass-panelled walkways and giant, futuristic pillars it is a far cry from the scene that greets India's rail passengers on their current daily commute.

The striking image is an artists impression of plans by a global engineering and design consultancy to transform New Delhi railway station into an urban icon for a modern, vibrant city.

Arup has been appointed to redevelop the 86 hectares that the station covers and make the site fit for 21st century travel.

'Urban icon': The computer-generated plans for the new station include vast indoor platforms, raised glass-panelled walkways and futuristic, sweeping white pillars

Outdated: The new design is a far cry from the current New Delhi railway station where passengers have to wait outdoors on crowded platforms

The proposed station - which is covered by a white ceiling and dotted with trees - will feature 18 platforms and handle in excess of 500,000 rail passengers per day.

The company hopes to completely transform the current overcrowded site, which travellers on TripAdvisor complain is chaotic, dirty and dangerous.
