Tradesman and Handyman Franchises in Australia Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

    - May 23, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) May 23, 2014

Over the past five years, the Tradesman and Handyman Franchises industry has grown strongly. Industry operators are typically sole traders that perform of range of jobs such as gardening, building maintenance, plumbing, fencing and painting. According IBISWorld industry analyst Ryan Lin, industry operators have benefited from the increasing number of consumers that lack both the time and skills to perform labour-intensive manual tasks around the home. As a result, the industry has grown at an annualised 3.2% over the five years through 2013-14 to total $881.9 million.

The steady rise in the number of households over the past five years has aided industry growth. As more households take up residence in new dwellings, demand for industry services to make alterations or perform maintenance work is likely to increase, says Lin. This is supported by the growth in capital expenditure in private dwellings which is forecast to be significantly higher in 2013-14 than in 2008-09. Industry revenue is forecast to grow by 3.3% in 2013-14 as a result of stronger demand.

The Tradesman and Handyman Franchises industry exhibits a moderate level of market share concentration. Jim's Group Pty Ltd, VIP Home Services Pty Ltd and Hire A Hubby make up a significant portion of industry revenue between them, as they have established the greatest brand recognition throughout the industry. However, beyond these three companies, the industry is highly fragmented. Many franchises only work within small regions or within a single state, precluding them from gaining market share commensurate with major players that have nationwide operations. Industry operators have traditionally operated as independent sole traders. Over the past five years, however, the franchise business model has become more prevalent. This is largely due to the rising instances of competition, with franchise businesses more effective in collectively marketing and promoting tradesmen and handymen. As a result of this competitive edge in marketing, tradesmen and handymen have increasingly joined franchise businesses to boost exposure and increase competitiveness.

Over the next five years, the Tradesman and Handyman Franchises industry is expected to continue its growth. Services performed by the industry will remain largely safe from any substitutes or external competition. Despite favourable growth conditions, competition within the industry will heat up over the next five years as the number of franchises increase. Industry profit is expected to continue to decline due to price competition, causing many tradesmen and handymen to broaden their skill bases so that they can provide a wider range of services for prospective clients. Kingsbury Grade and Greg Street Reopen for Memorial Weekend

    - May 23, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

CARSON CITY, NV - NDOT has reopened Kingsbury Grade (SR207) to through traffic. The next phase of construction begins Tuesday, May 27 with night work beginning at approximately 9 p.m.

The closure of Kingsbury Grade that started May 1 resulted in the completion of 5,000 cubic yards of excavation and installation of 2,600 tons of new asphalt and 1,800 feet of new curb and gutter.

We appreciate everyones patience during this closure, which enabled construction work that usually takes months to complete, to be completed in 23 days, NDOT Project Manager Pedro Rodriguez said.

Construction continues during the summer months starting Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, Aug. 29, with Kingsbury Grade open to through traffic. However, nighttime construction-related lane closures and delays are expected. The road will be open with one lane in each direction during daytime hours, weekends and all holidays through these summer months with no restrictions.

The approximately $15 million project will reconstruct pavement and make drainage, safety, curb and gutter, sidewalk, lighting and other improvements on areas of Kingsbury Grade from just east of Daggett Summit (Tramway Drive) to the intersection of U.S. 50 at Stateline. Construction follows a schedule designed to complete the project in an accelerated 12 to 18 months.

The public can sign up for construction alerts and see additional project information at kingsburyproject.com. A hotline for the Kingsbury Grade Pavement Reconstruction Project has been set-up at 1-844-888-ROAD and messages will be returned within 24 hours.

In Sparks, Greg Street reopens at 6PM Friday, May 23.

According to the city of Sparks, drivers will be able to access north and southbound lanes of Greg between Larkin Circle and I-80. Northbound has been closed along that stretch since early March. Only one southbound lane has been available.

Traffic controls have been in place to accommodate the construction of the North Truckee Drain Realignment Project.

Creative Edge has been in Lakeland 1439 Long St. for five years and offers a variety of landscaping services, including mowing, gutter cleaning, and water feature installation. The Auburndale location will offer the same services as its Lakeland counterpart.

Colorado garden to-do list for May 23-29

    - May 23, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Whether the phrase "burning daylight" was first used by Shakespeare or Jack London, gardeners know it is important to fully utilize spring days to get the landscape prepped and planted for the summer season, which unofficially begins this Memorial Day weekend. You ready? Get out there you're burning daylight. But first ...

    TAKE A WALK

Before you do any garden chores this Memorial Day weekend, take a walk. If walking isn't doable, drive or ask someone to take you for a drive. The reason is simple: Spring is here and summer is close behind. Don't miss it. Take it in with your eyes, your nose: leafed-out trees, flowering and fragrant shrubs like daphnes, mock orange, and viburnums. Spring-blooming perennials are doing their best despite the late snow: iris, peonies, salvia.

Play I-Spy with wildlife you haven't seen in a while or ever (squirrels don't count). American white pelicans are a sure conversation starter, and they're usually hanging out at West Quincy Lake and Barr Lake. You'll also find them right now at Smith Lake (the north one) in Washington Park, along with the mostly jet-black, pre-historic looking double-crested cormorants and the all-white egrets that seem to float in the air when viewed from afar.

Look westward and check the snow coverage over the high peaks. I try to guess what day in June the snow will be gone from my view (this year, my guess is June 6).

    VEGETABLES AND HERBS

If you've never grown vegetables before, try it this year. It doesn't take much space to plant a tomato or two, and they grow well in containers. You'll need amended soil and at least six hours of sun, but it can be three hours in the morning and three later in the day. Root crops like carrots and leafy greens will do fine with four hours of sun. More: http://www.ext.colostate.edu/mg/ Gardennotes/719.html

Bare-root strawberries, rhubarb and asparagus are still available in garden centers; if you want these edible perennials, get them and plant them now. Container-grown strawberries can also be planted now. For a continuous crop, plant a mix of types: June bearing, everbearing and day-neutral. More: http://www.ext. colostate.edu/pubs/garden/ 07000.html

Other small fruits to consider: Raspberry, elderberry, currants, gooseberry, grapes, blackberries. More: dpo.st/1tbqwEm

Once nighttime lows remain in the mid-50s, you can begin direct seeding of beans, cucumbers, summer and winter squash, pumpkin, corn and melons.
