Of Electric Fences, Trash Pits and Hooligans
Here is a fun little metal detecting hunt I recently went on. In it, I find a Civil War trash pit, examine the sounds of an electric fence and relate the story of how I became a Hooligan. ...

Sadler's Risk makes impressive debut over fences

    - May 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Updated: Monday, 19 May 2014 21:15 | Comments

Sadler's Risk made an impressive winning debut over fences in the Follow Us On Facebook Beginners Chase at Roscommon on Monday evening.

Useful on the Flat and rated 143 over hurdles, all eyes were on Henry De Bromhead's six-year-old and there was never a worrying moment for those who backed him at 9-4.

He put in a nice round of jumping to come home six lengths clear of Busty Brown.

Rathpatrick (12-1) showed the benefit of his debut experience when recording a length and a quarter verdict over Bosman Rule in the Kepak Flat Race.

The mixed card began with four Flat races and Gentry (2-1jt-fav) narrowly held the late challenge of Benny Blanco in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. (C & G) Median Auction Maiden.

John Oxx's charge took it up in the home straight but Jessica Harrington's charge was soon in pursuit and Declan McDonogh's mount was all out to score by a short head.

Connor King gave Abby Cadabby a fine ride as Andrew Oliver's three-year-old completed a hat-trick in the Roscommon Handicap.

The 3lb claimer stole a march on his rivals when sending the 9-2 shot to the front entering the run in and she had enough in the tank thwart the strong finish of Kabjoy by three-quarters of a length.

Toe The Line (4-6fav) was a warm order for the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Fillies Maiden and didn't disappoint his supporters.

Seven hotels in various stages of completion

    - May 20, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The seven hotels being built in San Angelo are in various stages of completion, from no site work having yet commenced at two to the installation of interior furnishings and finishes and framing of various floors at others.

According to a May 5 report to the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce from the city of San Angelos Permits and Inspections Department, the Baymont Inn & Suites at 1418 N. Bryant Blvd. was granted a city building permit last September and is open for business.

According to the citys update, Courtyard by Marriott, 2572 Southwest Blvd., was issued a permit last August and has nearly completed framing to its second floor. Third floor framing is expected to begin shortly.

Residence Inn by Marriott, 2545 Southwest Blvd., received a building permit last September. The 92-unit hotels framing and exterior sheathing are nearly finished, and roof trusses will soon be placed, according to the report.

At Candlewood Suites, 4587 Houston Harte Expressway, interior insulation and drywall have begun, and Red Arroyo, 4268 Sherwood Way, has had interior plumbing partially installed. There also are indications that the interior wall framing will soon begin at the latter hotel, according to the report.

Permits were granted this spring at Homewood Suites by Hilton, 4514 Sherwood Way, and Home 2 Suites, 2569 Southwest Blvd., but site work has not commenced at either location as of early May.
