Mumbai, May 13: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's MLA daughter enjoys "Z-plus category security", an RTI query has revealed.
According to PTI report, 812 police officials and security forces have been deployed for 84 VVIPs in Maharashtra.
Out of total 812 security officials, 52 have been especially deployed for the security of Shinde's daughter, Praniti.
A Pune-based RTI activist Vihar Durve had filed a query seeking information on the security personnel deployed for political and apolitical purposes.
Shinde's daughter Praniti enjoys Z plus security with 52 personnel and his wife, Ujjwala Shinde enjoys Y category security with 14 personnel.
However, Praniti, while speaking to PTI said the security provided to her family was "unnecessary" and they want their security withdrawn.
"We are provided security as per protocol, but we have not asked for any security. We do not even use the security provided to us. I have even written a letter to the state Home Minister and the Director General of Police to withdraw our security. We want it to be used for better purposes," she said.
The 12 VIPs that are entitled to Z-plus category security include Maharashtra Governer K. Sankaranarayanan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Home Minister R.R. Patil and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.
While there are a total of 46 security personnel guarding Mr. Chavan, there are 31 for Ajit Pawar. 25 personnel are deployed for the security of PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal.
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria are among the 18 persons that have been granted Z-category security and have 15-22 personnel guarding them. A total of 19 VIPs in Maharashtra that have been provided with Y-category security include Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Samajwadi Party Maharashtra Unit President Abu Azmi, sitting Congress MP Milind Deora and former Petroleum Minister Murli Deora.

Officials celebrated the completion of the reconstruction of Broad Street in Winder, using a new construction method as part of the Highways for Life program. Participants include: (from left to right) state Sen. Frank Ginn, Georgia DOT Board Member Jamie Boswell, former Winder Mayor Buddy Ouzts, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, former Winder Mayor Chip Thompson, Mayor David Maynard, former Mayor John Mobley and state Rep. Terry England.
Officials praised a new construction technique Tuesday that could help a Winder street last for decades.
(This is) the way roads should be built, said Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, cutting a ribbon on the reconstruction of Winders Broad Street, where concrete panels were built in a neary factory and then pieced together at night along the city downtown thoroughfare.
The nearly $5 million project, construted by G.P. Enterprises of Statham, is expected to create a stronger driving surface. The city also pitched in money for new sidewalks, curb and gutter, benches, lighting and landscaping.
This project started as a vision almost 10 years ago. Today we celebrate the foresight and hard work of those who came before us, said Winder Mayor David Maynard, who gave credit to his predecessors Buddy Ouzts and Chip Thompson for their contributions. I am especially proud that local businesses were utilized for the project. The contractor is a local business from Auburn, GPs Enterprises and Foley Products of Winder made the precast concrete panels that are now North Broad Street.
Cagle praised the changes to the downtown landscape.
Today we applaud the use of innovative road building techniques that allowed improvements while minimizing the impacts to downtown, Cagle said. Because of the concrete panels used, this road is going to last longer than I am going to last. Thats the type of road infrastructure we need to be putting down, the way roads should be built. In addition to that it looks absolutely beautiful and will bring economic development and business transactions to Downtown Winder.
State Transprotation Board member Jamie Boswell praised the contractor for completing the work two months ahead of schedule, despite a record cold and rainy winter.
Through this project in Winder, weve shown the benefits and importance of a partnership mentality as Georgia DOT works together with local leaders, Boswell said.

ELGIN The city council Wednesday night is set to approve awarding a $4.05 million bid to Landmark Contractors of Huntley for an extensive rehabilitation project in the Locust Street area on the citys near-west side.
The amount includes $1.006 million for street rehabilitation, $20,000 for water works, $200,000 for sanitary sewer adjustments and $2.76 million for sewer separation. Engineering services in the amount of $295,000 will be presented to the city council separately at an upcoming meeting.
I would like to start by the end of the month or sooner if possible, but there are a number of documents we need to have in order before they start, City Engineer Joe Evers said Monday. I am taking the [engineering] agreement to the committee of the whole on May 28, and if all goes according to plan to the regular council meeting on June 11.
Supporting material for the Wednesday meeting notes work involves the installation of a new storm sewer, removal and replacement of curb and gutter, sidewalk and drive approaches, the repair of, and in some cases the complete replacement of, the pavement base, pavement grinding and new riding surface of bituminous concrete. The project will improve approximately 0.2 miles of streets and construct 4,000 feet of storm sewer. The project also includes minor repairs or adjustments to sanitary sewers and water systems.
The work will cover all of Locust Street, which runs from Route 31 (State Street) west to Jewett Street; South Crystal Street from Locust north to Highland Avenue; Vine Street from Locust north to South Street; Elm Street from Locust south to Crosby Street; and West Chicago Street from Crystal east to the Fox River.
The storm sewer will extend up West Chicago, south on Crystal and then along Locust. It is sized to pick up some of the streets south of Locust, Evers said. The street work will include all of Locust, from Jewett to State.

Seeding is underway at the new Cabot Cliffs golf course in Inverness. This photo offers a view from the No. 17 hole of the new course that is expected to be ready for the 2015 season.

INVERNESS Seeding on some holes at the new Cabot Cliffs began this week as the course remains on schedule for a July 2015 tee off.
The new 18-hole course is being built on the Cabot Links resort, just north of the now renowned Cabot Links on a property overlooking the coastline of Inverness.
Ben Cowan-Dewar, managing partner for Cabot Links, said the same grass underfoot will give those who have played Cabot Links a sense of familiarity when they finally get the chance to walk Cabot Cliffs.
Familiarity will also come from the fact that Cabot Cliffs designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw share some of the same philosophies as Rod Whitman, who designed Cabot Links.

Oakville Beaver
Garth Webb Secondary School teams are scheduled to play 51 regular-season games this spring.
None of them are slated to be contested on Webb soil.
In fact, according to Webb phys-ed head Jay Anderson, the Chargers have hosted just one game a field hockey contest last fall since the school opened two years ago.
The reason? An chronically-saturated athletic field that Anderson wryly suggests might be more appropriately used as a bird sanctuary than as a venue for field hockey, soccer, rugby and football.
A couple of weeks ago, it was just covered with geese. They enjoy it, Anderson says.
Then the smile disappears.
Were a school who has just opened up, so you try to get traditions going. You try to get momentum going for school sports, and then you dont have a field to play on, Anderson says.
That makes it tough.
School thought it was getting artificial turf

Whether youre looking to re-invigorate the family home, spruce up the garden, or just add something new to your recreational life, the annual Brandon Home and Leisure Show will almost certainly have something for everyone when it hits the Keystone Centre this weekend.
The event, now in its 48th year, will feature over 165 exhibitors showing off a wide variety of home, garden and recreational products and services including patios, decks, gazebos, hot tubs, barbecues, travel trailers, lawn and garden equipment, fishing and pleasure craft, personal watercraft and more.
General manager Dave Melcosky says that he can still remember when the shows original incarnation then called the Brandon Sportsmans Show was 10,000 square feet in the 1970s and featured mainly recreation equipment. Now the Brandon Home and Leisure Show spans nearly ten times that over 96,000 square feet and has a vast breadth of products on offer.
Its quite large, says Melcosky. Its really gone through a growth spurt in the last little while, particularly on the leisure side.
Attendance is up as well, according to the general manager, with last years event drawing over 10,000 for the first time since he became involved with the event five years ago.
In fact, the annual event is so large that its even spilling outdoors.
Theres lots of interest in modular homes now, so well actually have two modular homes in the entranceway coming into the Home Show, with one inside as well, says the general manager, adding that theyre residential/cottage homes that are built to all of the Canadian housing standards.
Melcosky says that, while some bemoan paying a fee to enter the show, the value proposition is extremely good. Its all under one roof The diversity of this if you were to put $6.50 worth of gas into your car, I doubt youd hit half of the businesses featured in the show. Its a total one-stop shop.
