Exterior House Soft Power Washing Services
Thompson Roof Cleaning & Powerwashing service has been serving the entire state of New Jersey since 1996 and is considered one of New Jerseys leading residential and commercial exterior cleaning contractors. We are committed to providing both New Jersey residents and business owners professional exterior cleaning services at affordable rates.
We use a soft powerwashing method called Exclusive Soft-Washing System. Our soft power washing method has been proven to be the preferred method of treatment for all types of sidings such as brick, aluminum, vinyl, cedar, stucco and even painted surfaces. Some companies rely on simply blasting high pressure water to achieve cleaning results. Most of what causes mold and stains are organic in nature. Pressure washing alone simply blows live mold spores everywhere and does not kill the organism at the root. Our soft power washing system process begins by applying a lightly chlorinated disinfecting detergent at low pressure. This kills the mold and mildew and loosens all general pollutants. After a short dwell period a final low-pressure rinse releases the debris that is being held in suspension by our water softening surfactant. Our rinsing agents allow everything to rinse spotless, including the windows. This allows your home to stay cleaner for a longer period of time.

In todays world the kitchen is often the hub of the home. Its no longer just a place for the chef to cook in solitary but also a center for casual dining and gathering informally with family and friends, often around a big center island.
The possibilities are endless when upgrading a kitchen and even a few simple budget-friendly changes can refresh and modernize your design and add value to your home.
You can actually do a lot with a minimal budget. A typical minor kitchen remodel can include updating cabinet fronts and drawers, replacing the stove, countertops and flooring, installing a new sink and faucet and painting.
But one of the keys to a successful remodel is to set priorities: Do you want a full-blown or surface-level renovation? Either is fine, but make sure you know the pros and cons of each. And know your budget.
Cabinets are key
When it comes to renovating kitchens, the experts agree: A good set of cabinets is the key.
You wouldnt want to waste your money and put a stone top on a cabinet that was basically garbage, said Gary Trapanotto, owner of Designer Kitchens East in Mattituck. As long as youre starting with a decent foundation in place, the cheapest option is to replace the countertops and appliances.
All-wood construction cabinets are the sign of good quality; some cabinets are made from flake board or fiber board, which are made of scrap wood thats glued together with resin to make a new board, Mr. Trapanotto said.
Its not as good as a plywood cabinet, but it also doesnt have the price tag, he said. Plywood cabinets are often 10 to 15 percent more expensive, but its a worthwhile investment.

Patrick Clifford receives architectures Gold Medal
The New Zealand Institute of Architects has conferred its top honour, the Gold Medal for career achievement, on Patrick Clifford, a director of the Auckland firm Architectus.
Under the design leadership of Patrick Clifford, Architectus has established a reputation for outstanding performance, the Institute of Architects says. There is an understated confidence to Architectus work. The practices buildings take their place in the cityscape with urbane and assured authority, and they possess a rare architectural quality they make the buildings around them look better.
Ian Athfield, the doyen of New Zealand architects, says Clifford is hugely respected within his profession.
Patrick is the most consummate architect I know, Athfield says. He is extremely consistent. He conducts his office and he does it very, very well.
Clifford, together with his long-time colleagues Malcolm Bowes and Michael Thomson and more recently Carsten Auer, is responsible for a series of highly acclaimed buildings in most of the areas in which New Zealand architects practice.
The firms record includes civic buildings such as Waitakere Civic Centre and New Lynn Station in Auckland; university buildings such as the new Campus Hub at Victoria University of Wellington (with Athfield Architects); school buildings such as the St Peters College Middle School in Newmarket and St Cuthberts College Performing Arts Centre in Epsom; sports building such as the West Stand at Jade Stadium, Christchurch (with Athfield Architects), and gymnasiums at Auckland Grammar School and St Kentigern School; commercial buildings such as Aucklands Telecom Central; and residential buildings such as Trinity Apartments in Parnell and Te Puni Village at Victoria University.
Architectus has also been active in urban design and planning, having designed the framework for Wynyard Quarter on the Auckland waterfront and several streetscapes in the city.
In conjunction with the Australian practices with which it is aligned under the Architectus brand, it has latterly developed expertise in the specialist area of law court design. Architectus was a finalist in the competition for the International Criminal Courts in The Hague, and designed the new Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law in Brisbane.
The record really does speak for itself, the Institute of Architects says. In the context of New Zealand architecture Cliffords batting average is Bradmanesque.

DIXON The first plans for the downtown streetscape project were unveiled at City Hall in January, and work is expected to begin this month.
But two local architects still are critical of the project.
John McLane and Dean Sheaffer, who had submitted proposed designs for the streetscape and done work with KSB Hospital or downtown, say that because no landscape architect was the lead professional on the project, the city missed out on incorporating design elements, signage and greenspace into the $5.7 million project.
The city contracted Wendler Engineering Services Inc. and Willett, Hofmann & Associates, for a combined $320,930, to do engineering work and planning for the project.
The Dixon-based firms divided the project in half.
Wendler took the west side, which includes: Peoria Avenue from River Street to Third Street; First Street from Highland Avenue to Hennepin Avenue; and portions of Second Street between Highland Avenue and Hennepin Avenue.
Willett Hofmann took the west side, which includes First Street from Hennepin Avenue to Crawford Avenue, and Ottawa Avenue from River Street to Second Street.
In 2010, the city did a streetscape project on part of Hennepin Avenue.
The engineering firms were instructed to use general design guidelines from that earlier project as they worked on this years streetscape project, said Wendlers Scott Brown, who is leading the project for his firms portion.
Brown said that aesthetic elements and greenspace were incorporated into the design where available, but he added that they were very restricted in what they could do because of space available downtown.

The Wilmington River Club LLC is looking to buy a 3.6-acre parcel for about $18,000 from Brunswick County.
The small portion of land will add to the company's land acquisition for a housing development with retail and commercial space in Navassa. But construction won't begin until after the Interstate 140 Wilmington Bypass is finished.
When the highway comes, Navassa Mayor Eulis Willis said, the town understands there will be a growth spurt.
"We are getting ready to adjust," he said.
Almost 6,000 homes are slated for development in the area. Most have been stalled because of the economy, but groups have been poised to strike when the interstate is built.
The Wilmington River Club's Indian Creek development, near Cedar Hill Road and Royster Road, is envisioned to add 2,000 homes for the town of 1,500 people.
And the Mulberry Land Co. LLC proposes to build 3,684 residential units and dedicate land for a future fire department, public parks and public schools. It envisions commercial development at the intersections of Daniels Road with Cedar Hill Road and Mount Misery Road.
Navassa is bare of most retail, and Jon Vincent, the manager of Wilmington River Club, said the plans will bring something similar to Leland's Waterford.
"It's not going to be a major retail hub, but I hope for it to have a drugstore, hotel and ancillary shops," Vincent said.

The house at 309 W. Dunklin St. in Jefferson City has been undergoing renovations after years of neglect. It was chosen for the Golden Hammer Award for the month of May. Photo by Julie Smith.
Vacant and boarded up for years, the distinguished Bockrath Home was hidden and deteriorating until Nathan Runyan and Matt Winingear took notice in 2012.
As Professional Building Restoration LLC, the duo returned this late Victorian/second empire brick home with a faux Mansard roof to an eye-catching feature along the 300 block of West Dunklin Street.
The Historic City of Jefferson honored Runyan and Winingear with the May Golden Hammer Award.
We are so grateful that the new owners devoted their time, talent, and finances to restore this historical property and make it, once again, a contributing piece of history for the City of Jefferson, said Laura Ward, selection committee chairman.
The Henry and Elizabeth Bockrath House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, retains the original slate roofing and wood crown molding, decorative cornice lining the eaves with bricked corbels below, two-bay facade with arched windows, stone sills and a rounded entry.
But the building has seen changes since the Bockraths bought the home in 1899. By 1929, it was converted to two apartments and by 1935 into three.
Professional Building Restoration LLC continues to rent property.
Henry Bockrath immigrated from Hanover, Germany, to America at age 16 after being orphaned at age 10. He operated businesses in St. Louis and Florissant before moving to Jefferson City about 1885 as a successful dry goods salesman and tailor.
He and Elizabeth married in 1864 and had nine children. As members of St. Peter Catholic Church, they helped many in their German Catholic neighborhood, including Henry J. Wallau, a prominent local builder who got his first construction job in Jefferson City from Bockrath.

The least expensive step in any remodeling project is the planning.
Or dreaming as the case may be.
I have, for example, been planning my dream house for about 20 years.
It will be in the hills north of Santa Fe, N.M., and it will be a two-story adobe with maids quarters upstairs (Ill be well-heeled, I hasten to add), a sunken living room, a dining room atrium, a TV/game room, a book-lined balcony and a large bricked front courtyard with a fountain surrounded by a low adobe wall.
It changes all the time.
Sometimes the front feature is a gnarly old pinon tree, and sometimes the low wall is brick to match the courtyard.
Sometimes theres a wine cellar under the kitchen.
I have gone as far as to plan the bannister, which will be made of peeled poles. I know exactly how theyll be attached although Ill have to find a blacksmith to make the brackets Ive dreamed up, because I dont work in iron.
Oh, theyll be a big woodworking shop behind the garage and a kennel behind that. Maybe a vegetable garden, although I dont know exactly what you can grow in northern New Mexico besides peppers.
I dont like peppers.
