Guilt-racked Britons are using their sheds to secrete unhealthy snacks and store love letters from old flames, a new survey has shown.
One in five shed owners admits to spending time in out-buildings to avoid their partners while 8% would rather hide away in their shed than be intimate with their partner.
Britons love their sheds so much that the average person spends almost a year of their life in them.
New research by Cuprinol to mark the start of the annual Shed of the Year competition reveals more than 14 million people in the UK now owns a shed.

The Washington School District will seek bids for a two-story, 11-classroom addition, at Washington West Elementary.
The school board Wednesday night approved moving forward with design and bid specifications for the project. An alternate bid also will be sought for a 13-classroom addition.
The project would be financed with funds left over from a $9 million, no tax-rate increase, approved by voters in April 2013.
If bids are favorable and the board awards a contract, the plan is to close Fifth Street Elementary and relocate most, if not all, of those students to Washington West. Elementary boundary line changes also are under review as part of this project.
Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer said Washington West is overcrowded now and the addition will not only ease space constraints for existing students, but allow for the addition of Fifth Street students.
Theres been a lot of analysis done on this, VanLeer told the board, which also discussed the project last month.
VanLeer said Fifth Street Elementary is landlocked and repairs, especially HVAC improvements, would cost more than building an addition to Washington West. She also said there is a potential buyer for the Fifth Street building and property, bringing in additional revenue to the district.
School officials have talked for some time about closing both Fifth Street and South Point Elementary as part of their long-range plans due to costly repairs needed. South Point also is located in a floodplain.
VanLeer said there are no plans to close South Point at this time because voters rejected a $40 million bond issue, with a 25-cent tax rate increase, which would have allowed for a new middle school to be built and that facility to convert to an elementary school.
So now were trying to make due with what we have, VanLeer said. We have the money left over from the $9 million bond issue and that will at least allow us to move forward with closing Fifth Street and adding on to West.

Restaurant nears three years of business, boasts menu that ranges from lo mein to lamb stew

SHIPROCK Naatani Nez Restaurant is approaching its third year of serving customers a wide variety of foods.
When Jethro Begay was hired two and half years ago as the restaurant's kitchen manager, he says he thought one thing: keep Shiprock customers in Shiprock.
"I wanted to make people not go to Farmington," said Begay, who is originally from Shiprock. "They can have the same quality food and hospitality here as in Farmington."
When Begay assumed the role of the eatery's primary manager, he first scrutinized the menu, which, at the time, included many items common at other Navajo Nation restaurants. Naatani Nez, which is located at 101 Ayanni Neez Bay, opened in August 2011 with a menu that listed an assortment of Navajo foods like lamb stew, Navajo burgers and Navajo tacos.
Begay said he wanted to add variety to the menu but also keep the foods simple.
"I strived for meat and potatoes. That's what they like around here," he said.
Begay has since revamped the menu to include Mexican, American and Chinese food, as well as the Navajo staples.
The Chinese food is made by the restaurant's owner, Simon Cai. Cai deferred all comments to Begay because he said he doesn't speak English well.

Marijuana plants grow as Julia Ratcliffe, a technical consultant with The Bug Factory, a company that supplies insects for natural pest control, works at the MediJean medical marijuana facility in Richmond, B.C., on Friday March 21, 2014. MediJean currently has a license from Health Canada to grow marijuana for research and development purposes. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck
VANCOUVER From the outside, theres little to distinguish MediJean Distribution Inc.s headquarters from the unremarkable office complexes and warehouses that surround it in a sprawling slice of industrial suburbia near Vancouver.
Inside, however, the picture is unlike anything else around it. The company is putting the finishing touches on a massive hydroponic operation as it joins a lucrative new industry made possible by Health Canadas overhaul of the countrys medical pot system.
One of the facilitys growing rooms is already home to dozens of maturing green plants of various strains, and it will soon house many more. The concrete vault is empty, but it will eventually be filled with dried marijuana ready to be shipped across the country.
In contrast to the stereotypical grow-ops of movies and TV newsreels whether for medical use, the black market, or the uncomfortable place where those two worlds collide the facility has a sterile laboratory feel, which is precisely the point.
This is anything but a grow-op, says Anton Mattadeen, the companys chief strategy officer, during a recent tour of the facility in Richmond, B.C.
It is a clean-run, biopharmaceutical facility designed to produce the highest quality produce available. Whatever your views are based on the stigma (of marijuana), thats not us.
Mattadeen makes the same pitch other operators do: MediJean, he says, will be able to produce a wide variety of consistent, high-quality marijuana that simply wasnt available in the makeshift home grow-ops of the old system.
MediJean is one of hundreds of companies that have applied to supply marijuana under new Health Canada regulations that aim to stop patients from growing their own pot and instead restrict production to licensed commercial operations.
A dozen commercial growers have been fully licensed so far, and dozens more, like MediJean, are in the late stages of approval. MediJean expects to produce 90,000 kilograms of medical marijuana in its first year.
