SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Baseball could no longer resist progress. It made no sense to avoid instant replay when the technology was available to get disputed calls right.

Passing the legislation in January wasn't the only hard part. Implementing it will present many challenges based on conversations with multiple front-office executives and managers this past week.

Big-league stadiums have not yet been wired to provide the same camera views for both teams. It would create a bad look for baseball if an electrician is getting a work order signed at home plate before the season's ceremonial first pitch.

The simple mechanics of the challenge also are creating questions. MLB officials will hold multiple workshops this spring to help soothe concerns and explain the process. Teams are facing a pair of salient issues: the time allotted for confirmation from a club employee and which employee will fill that role.

"I hear that we will have enough time, but we don't know," said Oakland manager Bob Melvin, whose team lost a game in Cleveland last season when the umpiring crew incorrectly viewed a replay on a potential home run. "Hopefully that's the case, so we aren't blowing challenges."

Several teams say they will use their video coordinators to challenge. Others suggested that they will hire someone specifically for the job.

"We will use somebody in-house. And what I do know is that it won't be the same person for all 162 games," Rockies assistant general manager Bill Geivett said.

That person will be planted for those three-plus hours. Rockies manager Walt Weiss joked "that person will have to wear diapers because they won't have time to go the bathroom." It creates a scenario where a person unknown to 99 percent of the fans could decide a game's outcome.

"The way I look at it is, it is never going to be that guy's fault. Ultimately, I am the one that (challenges). It's on me, not on you," Weiss said. "With anything new on this scale, I am approaching it knowing there are going to be issues early on."

LeeCorp Homes said the 2014 Dolphin model is now open.

Interior features also include three-window bay windows in both bedrooms, built-in closets/cabinets in the master bedroom, blinds in all windows, cove molding in the living room, dining room, hall and bedrooms; a solar tube in hall bath; ceramic tile floors in kitchen, baths, and entry; ceramic tile shower in master bath; and high-impact windows throughout.

The Dolphin is priced in the mid $100,000s plus sales tax and includes delivery, complete installation, central air conditioning/heat, plus skirting and steps on customers prepared manufactured home or RV lot.

WELLSVILLE - The cold and snows of winter have halted renovation work inside the old Liberty Theater on Main Street in Wellsville since December. A great deal of progress has been made toward The Liberty being restored to something near its former glory over the last few years, however, with big plans in store for 2014.

The theater building has been the property of Potter Players Community Theatre since 2003, when it was gifted the deed from the Liberty Theater Association. The LTA, spearheaded by Erin Roberts-Orr's father, Bill Roberts, first began efforts to restore the building in the late 1990s, several years after the final feature was shown on its screen in 1991.

According to Roberts-Orr, who is leading the restoration project, the most important goals of making the theater habitable again have been achieved. The installation of a new roof and new windows mean the Liberty is now weathertight.

During the 1990s when the old building sat empty, heavy deterioration set in. Irreparable damage was done to the original seats, flooring and hardwood stage, all of which had to be torn out and disposed of.

The inside of the theater building is now a shell, stripped of peeling paint and plaster down to the bare walls and a new concrete floor, which was poured several years ago. Removal of that which was ruined and unfit for use has mostly been accomplished, leaving a building that Roberts-Orr says is fundamentally solid and in fine shape.

"The walls are good, the structure is sound," she said.

Progress has been slow because the restoration is dependent on donations for most of its headway. Roberts-Orr says that seeking grants and working on fundraising activities take up most of her time on the project. Since the recession began in 2008, she admits finding money has been difficult.

In addition to a $109,000 grant - most of which was spent on the new roof - Roberts-Orr says they have been very fortunate to receive many generous donations from local residents. All told, she says more than $130,000 has been spent on the theater and estimates a price tag of "probably three-quarters of a million to a million dollars to finish the entire project."

The project has also relied heavily on volunteer labor. Sometimes, it's individuals lending their professional experience or expertise in completing specific tasks. Other times, it's groups from local churches and organizations pitching in with less specialized duties.

An Idaho demolition contractor blowed up the Metrodome real good this morning. They touched off the blast about 7:30 a.m., after closing the streets around the Metrodome and cordoning off a safety area in the neighborhood.

The explosive demolition went off without a hitch, according to Mortenson Construction vice president John Wood. The blast was meant to bring down only the upper ring of the structure, after an expected collapse as that was being demolished last week. It was a complete success. It is laying on the ground, Wood said. That was mission accomplished It went exactly as planned.

Wood said the crew removed 24 columns within the building using 84 charges of conventional dynamite.

Mortenson called in the explosives experts after work was halted by the partial collapse on Monday, Wood said:

As the demolition crews were working on the ring beam with more conventional demolition equipment, a section on this east side came to the ground in an out of sequence and unplanned event. We knew there was some potential of that But when that occurred, we recognized we had to take a different approach to the demolition of a remaining beam.

Its the second time demolition crews have used explosives on the Metrodome. They took out the cables that held up the roof with explosives on Feb. 2.

Dont count on any more, Wood said. We think this will be the last use of explosives in the demolition process. From this point forward, it should be a pretty conventional approach.
