REGINA With warm weather on the way, patios in Regina are now just starting to open.

The Cathedral Village Freehouse recently opened its patio, previously under several feet of snow. They even had to bring in a Bobcat to clear it all out.

On Friday, they were ready to serve anyone who wanted to sit outside, even if it was cold and windy for most of the day.

If you want to have lunch on the patio, you can have lunch on the patio, said the restaurants general manager Craige Will. People have been waiting for this for eight months, and its ready for patio season.

Currently, 75 per cent of the patio is open. The rest is covered in a pile of snow.

People love the patio, This is where we make all our good money from, and its what sells the restaurant, the patio, he said.

Of course, a perfect patio day is hard to find in Saskatchewan so far this year.

You need a day thats warm, sunny, little to no wind (when) mosquitoes have forgotten this is Saskatchewan, and theres no wasps to be seen. So its pretty hard to find that day, said Greg Hanwell, who owns Beer Bros. Gastropub & Deli.

He adds that a working patio is an important part of any restaurant business.

A good patio can be an important part of a business because of the extra seating capacity it brings, which can lead to more sales. The fun and lively atmosphere of a patio also draws people in, and even if you cant sit on the patio, it brings people indoors, he said.
