FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) Tuesday evening customers pulling up to a Fort Worth Wendys drive-thru looking for a late night snack were greeted by signs that read closed due to maintenance.

CBS11 News has learned the fast food joint is dealing with a pest control issue. The restaurant has been closed since Monday.

We reached out to the company that owns the Wendys location just off I-35W near Western Center Boulevard.

We have temporarily closed the restaurant at 6440 North Freeway, due to pest control concerns, which may have been caused by recent construction in the area. We are taking this situation seriously and are working closely with our pest control supplier to quickly resolve this situation, said Rory Asay, Director of Operations for emerald food, in a statement:

The restaurants latest health inspection report from July 2014 indicates the location received 13 demerits for code violations like not having hand drying provisions in customer bathrooms, and for having adhering foreign material on the ice machine and ice bin. There was no indication from that the health inspection report that the restaurant had pest control issues at the time.

We are trying to do the right thing and will not reopen the restaurant until we know this matter has been completely taken care of, Asay said.

He did not specify what type of pest the restaurant may be dealing with.
