A DARWEN plumber steered a worried animal lover from a potential cat-astrophe after rescuing a pet from under the floorboards.

Daisy the cat had been missing for more than two days after worming her way under the floorboards of her owners home while they were having work done to the kitchen.

And after hearing meowing noises coming from under the living room floorboards, they turned to plumbers at the Dyno-Rod franchise, Craven Services Ltd, in Vale Street after hearing of the firms previous success in rescue missions.

Lead plumber John Kelly used a thermal imaging camera to find Daisy, realising she could access various downstairs rooms from under the floorboards.

He removed the carpet and pulled up a floorboard then coaxed the cat out by dropping food into the void.

And once she appeared after 15 minutes, John was able to pluck Daisy from the underbelly of the house and bring her to safety.

John Kelly said: Once we got the call from the distressed customer, we knew we could help.

We got to work straight away and used a thermal imaging camera to look down the floorboards and help locate Daisy the cat. It took us about two hours to make the rescue and the customer was so relieved.

The franchise in the Vale Street Works is owned by Andrew Millar, James and Max Craven.
