The plumber who saved the British tourist who lost her foot after being hit by a taxi in New York today lashed out at passers by who stood around taking pictures - and revealed she is still unconscious.

David Justino said he was appalled that a group of Americans reached for their phones rather than helping Sian Green, 23, when the out of control vehicle careered into her.

He tried to visit the fashion student, from Leicester, her at Manhattan's Bellevue hospital this afternoon, but was told that after surgery she was in 'no condition' to see anybody and was turned away. Scroll down for video
