TROY The hardship of having no water has been particularly tough for one woman she's going through chemotherapy. Now, shes getting some help.

One plumber is donating his time. Thats because the plumbers mom had something to say about the situation.

While the city has been doing nothing to help the family get the water restored, a private plumbing company has stepped in to take care of things for them.

Early Thursday evening, water flowed into the homes pipes for the first time in 10 days.

This is an ongoing operation at the Daus family home on Fourth Street. Its a story of perseverance and good samaritanism. Most of all though its a story of motherly persuasion and wisdom.

For the last 10 days, the Daus family -- including Eric Daus and his terminally ill mother, had been living without water ever since their underground pipe froze shut.

At 2:30 Thursday afternoon, Matt Ward showed up with his plumbing truck, saying he will take care of everything.

In fact, Ward says he is on a mission from the highest authority his mom.

She told me to go over and see if I can give them a hand down here in Troy see what our company can do for them here. said Ward. When a mother says something, you usually listen.
