AVON LAKE, Ohio A Lorain County boy was struck by a vehicle on November 6, and Saturday night, the community is showing support for him as they pray for his recovery.

People are rallying in prayer for Noah Venesile, 9, not to mention they are leaving their porch lights on for him as wella sign of hope.

Tuesday afternoon, Avon Lake police say the boy was hit by a 53-year-old area resident after he ran out into Deer Run Lane after a ball.

The boys had the day off school and were playing outside when the accident happened.

I pulled in right after it happened, best I could tell, the streets were blocked off and someone said Noah was in an accident, said Ruben Herrera, who lives near the accident scene.

It was just a tragic accident. The young man ran across the road, chased after the ball and the driver did not see him, said Sean Ludwig, who lives in the home where the kids were playing outside. My three kids were all outside playing when it happened. They all saw it. The young man in question is one of their best friends and is down at the house every other day, he went on.

Kids in the neighborhood helped set up a memorial for Noah near the accident site. It is surrounded by candles and teddy bears.

Homeowners also kept their porch lights on for the boy Saturday night as a sign of hope.
