This time of year Hillcrest Avenue becomes Halloween Street. More than fifty homes between Brownsboro Road and Frankfort Avenue are all decked out for Halloween. Many residents start dressing up their front yards and porches the first of October, ready to greet thousands of expected trick-or-treaters Saturday night. Homeowners along Hillcrest try to out-do themselves each year with new props, music, and sound effects. Some maintain a theme throughout their festive displays, such as Paul Kinsley: "We have everything from the Wizard of Oz to circus theme right behind us. We have ghost riders that play about 25 different versions of ghost riders."
