Picture a slice of melon nestled between two big pillows named Romania and Ukraine. This would be Moldova a small nation with about four and a half million people. This strategic location functions as a land bridge between the former Soviet Union and Europe. Citizens speak Russian and Moldovan, aka as Romanian. In the capital city of Chisinau the majority inhabit multi-storied concrete apartment buildings. A scant few miles away small self-constructed homes, some without running water or electricity can be viewed. Brightly painted blue, green, and yellow many are ornamented with incredibly complicated tin decorations on their porches, roof eves and even their water wells and churches. In villages and small towns families still travel by horse-drawn wooden wagons with rubber tires. Residents farm fertile black soil producing beautiful fruits and vegetables. Hundreds of acres of grape vines are cultivated to produce world-class wines.
